About Dan Young

Being an outdoor enthusiast all my life and having explored the country for the best hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, biking and fishing possible, I found it all in one place; right here in Telluride.

Dan Young purchased this condo in 2006

Why Dan Young chose Telluride

I consider this town to be a secret gem lost in the mountains of the highest concentration of 14ers in all of Colorado. They surround this restored mining town like a cathedral and every time I venture out, I find myself. In this place, there is everything to keep you connected with the past, yet with all the amenities of today. The restaurants, unique stores and festivals with all of the other sports activities available make this town perfect for anyone who wants to breath fresh air and relax. I think it is a great destination place.

What makes this condo unique

My condo is in the most unique settings in all of the town. Located in the very center of the historic part of Telluride, but just across a footbridge adjacent to the San Miguel River. The sound of the glacier water rolling over its rocky bed will lull you to sleep every night. Literally a five minute walk to the Gondola, Town Park, Festivals, Chair 8 and Restaurants you never need to get in your car until leaving; you can walk everywhere! This condo is directly adjacent to a redwood hot tub over looking the river, great for long days on the slopes. The master bedroom and living room look out towards Telluride Peak and Ajax. The interior has been remodeled in classic Telluride style with a fire place in the living room and both bedrooms. A truly ideal place in a truly perfect part of the world.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dan, the stay was incredible. Up to now I believed that Glacier National Park and its confines were my favorite place in the lower 48 but I must say Telluride is at the very least its equal! Your condo made it perfect, I hope it was left in the condition we arrived, except with a few used sheets (I was a girl scout, try to always leave where I stay better than when I arrive, but couldn't do that with your place because it was immaculate). You were right about the location! After a thorough exploration of the town I couldn’t imagine a better spot… smack in the middle of everything. The stairs were no problem for my dad. I could go on and on, but I won’t bore you. One amusing thing however: as you know, the laws about marijuana are quite strict in most places but Colorado. When I told my children (5, the youngest 18) that I could see “The Green Store” from the balcony they cracked up. I don’t suppose that is a selling point for the condo, but it’s quite intriguing when you come from Texas. I actually went in and bought one of my sons a t-shirt. I felt a little shifty coming out but the staff was quite friendly. In fact, everyone there was friendly! One night I was in the liquor store buying, I am ashamed to admit, a box of wine and the salesman teased me about my high class taste. The next morning my sister and I ran into him, almost literally, on the Jud Wiebe trail where he recognized me and told me he was glad to see me after my box of wine. I assured him I had not consumed the entire box the previous night. Hah!

Thanks again, I know I will make it back to Telluride and if your condo is available that will be my only choice!!

Great condo for a long weekend ski trip

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the River House condo. Dan was very gracious in giving us lots of info about Telluride in advance. The location was wonderful! a quick walk to the gondola. The condo was spotless, and the bottle of wine was appreciated. The only heads up is the steep spiral staircase. It would be difficult for families with young children. All in all, we loved it!

Cozy condo in ideal Telluride location

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay here! The multiple fireplaces made the condo so cozy, and the location couldn’t be beat. Close to town but tucked in the trees along the river, we felt we had privacy and proximity. Owner was responsive to emails and provided everything we needed for a great stay. Will definitely be back!

Perfect for our trip

  • 5 of 5

Very clean and well-appointed condo that fit the needs for our family visiting for a wedding. Bonus that it was walking distance to the groom's parent's home and the reception hotel. Very close to the gondola and anything you need in town. We did not move our car the 3 days we were there. It was nice to have a kitchen so every meal did not need to be purchased out. Kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. Rates were excellent compared to the local hotels. Easy communication with the owner.

Note: There is a roll out bed under the bunkbed - missed that at first!

As stated in other reviews the outside stairs and inside spiral staircase could be challenging for folks with mobility issues but the setting is quiet and peaceful if that is not an issue.

Practically Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Perfect Place to stay in Telluride! Located in the historic district it is within a 5 minute walk to everything; restaurants, trails, the gondola, & shopping. We parked our car and left it there until we sadly had to return home. The parking pass included with the rental makes that part so much easier. The bottle of wine waiting for us upon our arrival was welcoming and delightful!

The only caveat are the stairs; there is a narrow circular staircase that connects the bedrooms with the living and kitchen area. My husband just had foot surgery and it took a few times to figure out how to best negotiate the steepness. The hot tub made it all okay.

We had a slight issue upon arriving. We contacted the owner. He could not have been more caring and the responsiveness to the issue was fast and conclusive. Thank you for that!

We definitely would stay here again!

Car: not necessary

My home is arguably, located in the most perfect spot in all of Telluride. Uniquely situated on the San Miguel River but in the center of the historic district, it also is a hike in and out AND ski in and out. Located within a 3 minute walk or glide to chair 8 or the Gondola, access to town or the village is pretty darn convenient. The river only enhances the whole experience because you really feel like you are in your own world. In the evening, dinner is only a five minute walk to ALL restaurants! We bought the home because of the location, but the interior has as much charm as the exterior. We love it here in Telluride, I think you will too. Dan
