Whether for a weekend getaway or a long week long vacation this newly updated interior 4bd/3bath beach property has all the modern luxuries for that perfect getaway! Whether it’s last minute or planned in advance we offer the easy life filled with surfing, swimming, fishing, walking the beach, or relaxing in the hot tub we have it all. Spend your days playing on the beach and then relax on one of the spacious decks overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. A quick walk to the Rodanthe fishing pier, shops, and local restaurants offers variety and options for the adventurous vacationer. The OBX has many places to explore and do for all ages and skill sets for activities in the great outdoors. The famous lighthouses along the coastline, wildlife preserves and large sand dunes plus plenty of wide open beaches to explore. Why leave the house? An open concept updated kitchen with all new stainless steel appliances and accessories put in the summer of 2023, offers a culinary delight to the chef who enjoys cooking. Lunch or late afternoon grilling on the deck adds flexibility and variety for the outdoor chef. The 2 large decks facing the ocean are great spots to relax and hang out while playing games or soaking in the hot tub, with unobstructed beach and ocean view that stretch across miles of ocean! One of the most unique and exciting things guests have mentioned about their stay is seeing schools of dolphins and sea birds are just off the deck behind the house. The front deck of the house is a sweet spot too that boasts tremendous sunsets facing the sound side of the island. Nice place to escape for a while on your own. It is also a great spot for a late afternoon or evening tea or glass of wine. Guests enjoy the close proximity to the beach, waves running up to the back deck steps and the tranquility of the ocean sounds when sleeping. Let the adventure begin!

My family and I loved it here! Every amenity that was advertised was provided, super clean, excellent view and access to the beach and during our stay the host was in constant contact with us making sure everything was good. I would 100% recommend a stay here.

Best beach view by far. The host was so easy to reach and addressed any questions promptly. The house came it lots of coffee pods and a few extras Dish soap and laundry pods. Shampoo body soap and plenty of towels. I would rent this house againAshley

The host was quick to answer emails. All of the amenities were excellent for a restful weekend. The coffee,teas, and hot chocolate were super for extra cold but restful weekend.

A very nice property right on the beach. Communication with the owner was excellent! The driveway has about a foot of sand in it so we found it best to park on the street and carry everything about 50 feet to house while walking in deep sand. The house also has LOTS of stairs . For these reasons this is NOT a good rental for those who have mobility issues. None of the property photographs show the front house view and driveway filled with sand. Unfortunately, you will be tracking sand into the house every time you come in. If you’re looking for a clean comfortable house right on the beach with a great views this is the one!Small thing.. The beach chairs/umbrella have a lot of rust, for a small amount of money the owner can upgrade these issues.

Awesome trip!

Owners were very responsive with any questions and accommodated some changes we requested with no issues which was so helpful to us. You can’t get any closer to the beach! We had an awesome time. A must visit.

A nice vacation

Quiet and pleasant. Came during hurricane season and the waters were rough and some flooding. The host Darren was excellent and very helpful and informative.

Awesome Vacation

This was our first trip to the OBX and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. House was clean, comfortable and roomy and the view was fantastic!! There were a couple weather related issues but Darren was quick to respond, kept us updated and issue resolved. Will definitely look to rent again if we go back to the OBX.

Amazing Location and a Wonderful Host

This was our first visit to the OBX and staying at Heads Above was excellent! The customer service and attention we received from Darren was timely and top notch. Darren even provides an App for your smartphone on all the "need to know" topics for the house and surrounding area. The accommodations were comfortable, clean and the location couldn't be beat. The best compliment I could give is that I want to go back.

Absolutely Perfect

It was one of the best vacations. It was everything we hoped for. The view is breathtaking and peaceful. The place was clean and so roomy. Darren and Claudia were the best hosts. They checked in to see if everything was okay and if we needed anything. Even got us chairs and an umbrella when I mentioned if they had them there. They couldn’t be more accommodating. I will be telling all my friends who want to go to the Outer Banks. We would definitely stay there again. Cheryl C.

OBX House

The inside of the home was super clean, decorated nicely. Extremely close to the ocean. The views are spectacular. Especially from the upper deck. Our only issue was the driveway. There was so much sand that it made it hard to walk to and from our vehicle. The driveway should have been cleared, at least to some degree. I notice other rentals had the driveway cleared.

We had a wonderful time at this amazing beach house!! Nothing beats the proximity to the water and the phenomenal view. House was clean and the master bed was very comfortable. Coffee bar was nice with a good variety of choices. We would definitely love to come back!

Dreamy beach getaway

One of our favorite beach trips yet! Perfect for a family with children to let them run wild on the beach. We spent most of our time outside but the inside was just as great!! The location cannot be beat, the home is extremely cozy, and the hosts are great! We will definitely be back 😀

Great location, amazing host!

Darren is an amazing host! He did a great job of helping me rent the place out last minute and answered every question or concern I had in a timely manner! He’s a great guy and even has his cleaning crew send me my sweatshirt I left behind! The view was absolutely breathtaking and the house itself felt very homey! Would stay here again for sure! Thank you so much Darren!!!

Large house, lots of space!

We stayed here with our family and my sisters family. There was plenty of room, owners communicated well, walking distance to most things including the pier. I would definitely come back.

Our best family vacation to date!

Our family agreed that our stay at this property was our best vacation to date! We love OBX and this was our first stay in Rodanthe. The house was perfect and the host was amazing; great communication. The hosts turned what could have been a disaster of a vacation when we were bumped last minute from our original rental into the perfect week. They even arranged amazing weather for us😃. 10 out of 10!

Young family very blessed to have two amazing kids and a new little golden doodle named Oliver. I Grew up on the west coast and lived in Washington state and attended college in Hawaii and Pennsylvania. Use to take trips to the OBX while in school. My wife grew up in Argentina and we met while I worked in Huntington Beach, CA. We enjoy traveling and exploring the world. Also, enjoy hiking and golf, and long walks on the beach. Love the outer banks and what the area has to offer. Glad we can share our property with our guests from around the world. We hope you also feel welcome staying here!

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

When I was in graduate school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania we would have super activities with large groups of young adults in our church on the outer banks of North Carolina. We would rent these large houses on the beach and have big bonfires and sit in the hot tub after a fun day on the beach exploring the area. It was a blast and I have fond memories of that and the amazing beauty of the area. I wanted my family and kids to experience similar things so when the opportunity presented itself we couldn't resist and we bought our first property on the beach in the quaint village of Rodanthe, called "Heads Above"!

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

This property is unique because it is on the beach. I mean literally on the beach. There are fewer of these type of house left in the area and you can hear the soft tranquil waves crashing on the shore from inside the house. But even better there are 3 decks to observe the majestic sea from above or to watch the magnificent sea birds fly by. Two decks are facing the ocean with unobstructed views on the back of the house and they are large with lots of patio furniture and a hot tub. The front porch deck has sound views with the most amazing sunsets! Great place to escape in the early evenings in the lounge chairs with a favorite beverage. Also there are restaurants and shops close and within walking distance or a short bike ride to the house. Convenient in all respects.
