Walk over to Sunset Beach Fishing Pier and drop a line, leave a personal message at the Kindred Spirit Mailbox, book a tee time at nearby golf courses, and feast on delicious seafood at local restaurants during your stay!

Wonderful place!

Amazing rental for a larger group and very kid friendly. We took a mom's trip with kids of all ages ranging from 6-15 years old and this fit our needs perfectly. The pictures don't do this rental justice. The downstairs level was separate so it was great for the older kids to hangout without disturbing the younger ones that went to be earlier. One block from the beach, close to all the island shops and ice cream. Easy drive to grocery stores, etc. This location is perfect. The host was very responsive and clear on his directions for check in and out. We def will be returning here!

We stayed with my children, grandchild, aunt, and father. This place was set up perfectly for large range of ages. Steps were only complaint by elderly parties but not bad at all. They would all come back again! Walk to the beach was wonderful, this location was perfect for us. Great place, will be back!

Two week stay with grand kids

The kitchen had more than adequate supplies and utensils. It made cooking meals just perfect. The house was clean with room for all seven of us. The downstairs was perfect for two girls and two boys. This is our third year as a family (I've been coming for years and years). We love Sunset Beach. Thanks for your hospitality.

Our stay was great except for the weather. It was cold and rainy the entire time. The walk to the beach was longer than shown in the pictures and the shower in the bedroom upstairs was very small. It is a nice property in which to stay. Not much parking space and a few too many stairs for us older folks.

About the host

Host profile image
Richard and Nancy reside in Black Mountain, NC. Both have vacationed at this house since the early 1970s. First owned and built by the Turner family from Ridgecrest, NC and purchased by Nancy's parents 1990s. After her parent's deaths, we purchased from the estate in 2017. Richard is in the insurance and property management business in Black Mountain and Nancy is a retired teacher. They have 3 adult daughters and 3 grandchildren. We are just "plain ole people" who like to share the house with like-minded folks.

Why they chose this property

It's spacious, comfortable, convenient, clean and well stocked. The main kitchen upstairs has everything you need, including a hand thrown set of pottery dished by well know McDowell County, NC potters Derrick and John Garrou. Derrick is a son-in-law!! Downstairs kitchen is smaller but has all you need to cook a breakfast or fix a quick lunch. Both Kitchens have full size appliances. Since we have young grandkids it has plenty of things for kids.
