What a wonderful stay! We had a group of 11 and the house suited us perfectly. We have stayed at numerous rental properties at Lake Shasta but Ali's home was one of the best in accommodating a large group. There was plenty of silverware, dishes, a well stocked kitchen, and an expansive deck with LOTS of seating. The teens in our group loved lounging on the comfy sofa watching the World Cup games, while the adults made use of the comfortable deck space. We appreciated that the house felt like a "home", not just another vacation rental. Communication with the host was very responsive, even allowing us to check in early once cleaning was complete. We would happily return again!

Weekend trip

We had an amazing weekend at this cabin. Check in was easy and the cabin was very large with a great deck for BBQing and relaxing. We would stay there again!

Beautiful Cabin, fully stocked for large groups. Very well maintained and clean. I would definitely recommend this home to my friends and family with children as it very accommodating.

Myers hide away was great for our large family group. The house is very nice and fully stocked with all your needs. The house was very comfortable and we had a wonderful time.

Myers Hillside Hideaway worked out so well for the 16 of us who came from Yreka, Reno, Bend, Sacramento and Alameda to enjoy an outstanding Thanksgiving Feast. The weather was outstanding for all of us to enjoy the deck until dark and then head into the roomy livingroom for laughing and sharing. Your kitchen was wonderful with your cookware and counter space for our food supplies!

Hubbys Birthday trip

Amazing fun long rainy weekend at this cabin and it was so accommodating and comfortable. Great places for our kids of all ages and enough space for everyone to spread out. We can’t wait to go back and make more memories. Love the Myers cabin.

Our Christmas vacation

His property was overall the greatest have stayed in in a while. Everything was very accommodating even when we forgot things of our own it was a great fit for our family to enjoy the Christmas holiday. It was like home away from home

Had a family gathering and this was perfect. Plenty of room to spread out both inside and on the balcony. There were enough trees around to hide the neighboring houses. Having 2 refrigerators was a bonus. Our group included some small children who used the crib and child's bed and loved all the toys.

Shasta

We had 5 couples for a friend’s retreat. The house was very well stocked and comfortable. The outside deck was a lot bigger than expected. Kitchen is big enough for several people cooking and preparing. the price is right as well.

A Wonderful Family Getaway

My family vacationed at The Myers Hillside Hideway for four days and had a wonderful time. The home is spacious and clean, and its setting in the woods is very peaceful. We enjoyed our meals on the beautiful deck... making it difficult to get up and wash dishes! :-) We docked our boat at the Antlers Resort which was close by, convenient and affordable. Ali and Cory are wonderful owners and I can't express enough how accommodating they are to any travelers needs. My only complaint is ~ I wish we booked it longer!

Home away from home

We have a large group that takes a yearly trip to Shasta. We have stayed at this house 5 of those years and absolutely love it! The wildlife around the house is such a joy to watch with morning coffee, the boat slip is such an added bonus to get with the property if you need one. The house has such a feeling of being home And I have never stated another house that had such a stocked kitchen! The owners have always been wonderful to work with and very accommodating. When any question has arisen. We are looking forward to staying again in the future!

Great cabin for the whole family!

Our family of 17 enjoyed our nine-night stay. First impressions: WOW! It felt very homey and comfortable. Beautiful living room/dining area. Kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed to feed the crew. Everyone was sad to leave. The 4 stars instead of 5 for cleanliness was due to some of the dishes, pots and pans needed to be rewashed before we used them, but we realize that's due to previous renters of your cabin slacking a bit in the dish washing department. We'd love to return in the near future. Thanks for sharing your home.

Best Getaway yet!

the cabin was better than expected nothing to complain about the location is so peaceful you really get at East and forget about all the stress from our daily life the kids loved it playing inside and outside it was a beautiful day the snow was not far from we can't wait to come back for summer to try to late communication with owners was amazing everything in the house is labeled directions and tips for getting out of town or sightseeing we didn't have to communicate with the owners not even once of how everything set up in the house. thank you once again and we hope to come back. The best house we've stayed at at Shasta

Our group has been coming to Shasta for years, and this is the nicest property we've stayed at. Usually there are 8-12 of us but this house could have easily accommodated more. It's pretty clear that someone actually lives here, at least part time, which is AWESOME because it has all of the stuff you'd never find at just a rental. Need a lemon zester, an extra fridge, or a giant pot for a shrimp boil? Done. A pile of blankets and firewood in case the power goes out? It's here. Beds are comfy with quality linens and house has nice decor throughout. The space is giant as shown in the photos, so everyone isn't on top of one another all of the time. The owners were amazingly accommodating and responsive.

Great log house near boat launches

We had a great time in this larger log home Near the lake. Home had everything we needed. Large deck with Bbq. Home has AC and kept it comfortable at most times during a hot week. Not super clean, guess there was big group before us that didn’t take good care of the place. Only down side is I had to call the police on the crazy neighbor in white mobile home. He is a psycho that gets sets off with any noise. He kept yelling and threatened to shoot the neighbors dog for barking. Then went postal when the local bar had karaoke night about 1 Mile away. I think he went to jail for a couple nights. We will definitely try booking again next year and hope the crazy guy moves away. Thanks

Unfortunately our experience was not consistent with some of the other reviews. I gave two stars because the house was generally as expected. Three things largely spoiled our stay.First, despite being listed as a no pet home, someone had clearly snuck a cat in recently. Due to a serious cat allergy, a portion of our party had to rent a hotel last minute in Redding, incurring not only an additional 2000 expense but also adding multiple one hour round-trip daily drives to and from where our boat slip was located.Their cleaner claims they can't smell or find anything (of course) but multiple people in our party including cat owners immediately noted that the house reeked of cat urine so beware if you or anyone in your party has an allergy.Second, we went to fire up the grill and were met with a substantial grease fire (see picture). This meant instead of cooking dinner I was babysitting a fire for over an hour while keeping the kids off the patio and stuck inside. The owners response was "I would have just changed the pan," which is rudely dismissive and ignoring something that is expected as part of grill cleaning/maintenance.Third, and perhaps most concerning, on Friday night their immediate neighbor began shouting threatening obscenities. I believe he was upset by other rental properties in the area making noise, but he was also clearly unwell. This made us uneasy having our young kids outside the last two nights. Sharing our experience for others as a warning.

This review was absolutely expected after this guest demanded a refund in order to “make him happy”. I did offer to refund his money to leave early, but he wanted to stay for free. Unfortunately, I could not get him out of my home fast enough, even with offering a refund. We have a strict no pets policy. We did a deep clean upon his exit, and there was no cat hair anywhere to be seen, and after crawling all over the floors in the house, could not find any urine anywhere. The carpets were just shampooed June 30th, 5 weeks prior to this stay. Ironically, per this guest, “the urine smell dissipated by the end of the week and wasn’t so bad” which was why we couldn't smell it. The BBQ was also brand new and only 5 weeks old. It was clean, but we neglected to replace the disposable drain catch underneath the BBQ and were completely transparent about that misstep. Rather than remove and replace the container with the extra disposable pans offered to him, Our guest opted to reach out to me multiple times throughout the week to complain that he couldn’t use it. We also have a strict quiet time policy on the deck after 10pm as a part of the rental agreement. This is a neighborhood and guests that stay out late at night and have a blatant disregard for our community are not welcome. While I understand people are on vacation and want to have fun on the deck, we do have to be respectful outside during quiet hours. Another reason this guest is not welcome back. We have never had problems with any of the neighbours, and in fact, they have helped us out quite a bit when there are snow storms by clearing out the driveway with the backhoe. For those curious, there are also multiple affordable hotels, inns and short term rental homes in Lakehead within walking distance and up to 1 mile of our home, should you need additional accommodations. Please reach out for recommendations. :) We love our house, our neighborhood, and 99% of our guests. We have a beautiful log-style cabin with boat slip and amazing amenities for a really affordable rental price. We are beyond blessed and generally enjoy sharing our home with respectful guests. This guest is not welcome back and our similarly negative review of his treatment of our home and his communication style demanding refund to "make him happy" reflects our terrible experience with him.

The 13 of us had no problem in your kitchen hosting a Thanksgiving Feast for the second year in a row. Plenty of room in the refrigerators and supplies to use. Your deck was a great spot to hang out enjoying each other! Such a great time! Thank you!
