The management of the cabin was professional and easy to work with. We had absolutely no problems during our stay. Be prepared for windey roads!

Great place close to national parks.

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in the Red Cabin for 3 night while traveling with my wife and 5 kids through the USA.

From the Red Cabin we have visited Sequoia, Kings Canyon and Yosemite national parks. The red cabin is very nice place in the mountains very close to Kings Canyon. 2 hour drive to Yosemite.

There is a lot of space in the house. The house was clean. Outside you can see the wild animals if you are lucky and the kids can play in the garden.

Nice place but unpleasant arrival arrangement

  • 4 of 5

The manager sent us the wrong address. And it took us two hours to find out about where the correct address is b/c the lack of cell phone signal there. It is very stressful after a long drive. Also the payment for the place isn't very easy. The instruction is not clear about how to make bank transfer, so we mailed a check but when it arrived, we were told that there is not enough time for check to be cleared. The landlord has to come and pick up the cash payment. This can be improved for future customers. Other than that, the place is nice and has a small swing and playground for kids. We enjoy the stay there.

Great location, house left much to be desired

  • 2 of 5

We stayed in the Red Cabin because we wanted to visit Sequoia National Park and King's Canyon.

Pros: It was in a good location, though traveling anywhere was on windy roads. The house has a lot of bedrooms so is a good size for multiple families. It has a new fridge, new washer and dryer. The bocce ball court, tetherball and outside area made it fun to hang out there.

Cons: The house was pretty dirty. The cleaning crew didn't even seem to vacuum the upstairs. The flimsy 1 towel per guest is quite stingy. There is no reason to not leave a certain amount of towels and just make sure they are all there at the end. There was only 1 kitchen towel to use, and no hand towels (though the lack of hand towels was clearly stated, quite ridiculous for a rental). There were no paper products except for toilet paper. We stay in a lot of VRBO homes/condos, and they have all supplied toilet paper, napkins, paper towels and tissues. There was also no shampoo or conditioner in the showers which is a nice amenity for the price of the house to rent. The sheets were all old and the beds were not made when we got there. The sheets were placed on the beds but the wrong sheets where on most of the beds. Some of the blinds when moving them would either come off their frame or individual pieces would come off. It would also have been nice for charcoal to be with the bbq. Overall the price for the rental was not worth what was offered at the house. We would not stay here again unless we knew improvements were made.

Close to Sequoia with rustic feel

  • 4 of 5

The outside was rustic and away from it all but a close windy, distance from Sequoia, just as promised. We had to discover the bed linen closet for ourselves and determine which sheets would fit on which bed. This took a bit of time, but the linens were clean. The water was plentiful and hot for showers, and the swamp cooler worked well. One bedroom had approximately 50 flies in it when we arrived, but no odd smells--perhaps this was due to a small herd of cows that were pasturing nearby. We saw one large eared mouse in the kitchen. The fridge, kitchen, table, bar, and sitting room were greatly enjoyed by our 2 families.

very bad experience

  • 1 of 5

When we arrived there, we could not open the fence gate, the combination was wrong, our phones did not work, after struggling with it, we asked for help with a person driving by. With his phone we called the manger and the code was wrong, but she emailed us the wrong code, and she said she did not email the wrong code, (we have email proof of the wrong code), she was not concerned at all, very very unprofessional.

After getting into the cabin, the air condition did not work, no vents in the bed rooms, very hot, the beds were not made, we had to do them .

the floors were very very dirty, our feet were filled with dirt.

The TV remote did not have batteries in it, you would think someone should check all these things before renting the cabin, very very disappointing.

To top all of this, there were mice the house, how unhygienic can you get?

we called the manager from a pay phone and asked her about the air conditioning, then she tells us some instructions and said it is a cooler, not an air conditioner, again not very professional neither said sorry for all the inconveniences, very unprofessional.

The place could be much cleaner and comfortable and of course without the mice.

We did not enjoy the stay at all and regretting for renting the cabin, very bad experience, hoping for you to correct all these problems for the next renter.

Owner's Response: Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We are sorry to hear of your bad experience. The combination to the property is the same and works for everyone else who enters the property... not sure why it did not open for you. I am confused?? Your last email stated: "I have no complaints about the cleanliness of this place" it is hard to understand why your review indicates otherwise. We strive to keep our promises: Upon guest arrival clean and folded linens are at the foot of each bed.Your rental agreement clearly states the beds are left unmade to ensure clean linens. So sorry you missed it : this property does not advertise air conditioning and instead mentions a cooler. Too bad we were not able to make you happy even after sending staff. We wish you all the best with your next rental experience. Safe travels.
