About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Ledfords Landing is a picturesque lakefront retreat in a private setting. This 2600 sq foot lakefront home is spread over two floors. Upper and lower decks boast of views across the lake to Chimney Rock. The main level has a large great room with ample seating that surrounds a lovely brick fireplace. The kitchen/dining area is spacious and opens into the great room. The upper level has 4 bedrooms - 3 of which have a sliding glass door that opens onto a common covered balcony facing the lakefront. The master bedroom on the lakefront has a king bed and its own full bath. The other three upstairs bedrooms share a full bath in the hallway. All of the bedrooms are roomy and comfortable. The two lakeside bedrooms have queen beds. The fourth bedroom has two twins. For additional sleeping space there is a 5th bedroom with a queen bed that is located just off the kitchen. There is also a full bath with shower downstairs, which is also accessible from the outside, great for a quick rinse off after swimming. The large covered porch/deck located off the great room provides a great spot to read a book or enjoy the lovely views of the lake and mountains.

If it’s a water experience you are interested in, there are only 20 steps from the house deck to the lakefront over-sized dock with shaded area and ceiling fan. Whether canoeing, kayaking, swimming or just floating aimlessly in the cool emerald water, you’ll be at ease as we are situated in a quiet “no wake” cove. (We provide 2 sea otter kayaks and canoe for your use.) No matter how you spend your day, you’ll want to be on the 'rooftop deck' over the boathouse in the evening. The water changes from cool green to brilliant gold as the sun sinks over the mountain. At Ledfords Landing, you have a beautiful view directly across the lake to the mountains.

PONTOON BOAT AVAILABLE: We have a 1999 Voyager 21' pontoon boat available at your option to rent with our home. It has a 90 hp 4 stroke engine. The pontoon rental is $195/day with a 3 day minimum in. The following rates are with taxes and fees included:

offseason weekend rate $365 (Fri-Sun)

long weekend rate $570 (Fri-Mon or Thur-Sun)

weekly rate is $1275.

It is a great way to get see the lake and surrounding area; go for a sunset cruise, go to Bayfront Grille by boat for lunch or dinner.

In 2006, Lake Lure has passed a regulation that makes it unlawful for boats with commercial licenses (i.e.our boat) to tow skiers or tubes, etc behind the boat.**************

There are several (14) acres adjacent to the house that are perfect for playing baseball or Frisbee, picnicking, or star gazing at night. It was on this property that several scenes from the movie Firestarter were filmed.

Please note that our home is family friendly. We welcome you to use some items we've kept for your convenience - portable crib/high chair/toddler bed/booster seat. Also an ample supply of toys, books and videos. The porch has locking gates to help keep little ones safe and let you relax.

We love animals, but for the comfort of all our guests, we do not allow pets.

Why Jenny Cox chose Lake Lure

Our home was purchased in 1988. There are countless precious family memories here. We welcome you to come and enjoy our home and the lake with its beauty and peacefulness and make your own sweet memories.

What makes this house unique

Not many homes on Lake Lure possess the combination of a level lot, ample space outside to play, and proximity to the water. We are 20 steps from deck to dock.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our family is very large and growing each year. With ten adults and five children under the age of 4, it can be difficult to find adequate space that we can enjoy together. Ledford’s Landing was absolutely perfect for us. The entire house was wonderfully childproofed that allowed us to kick back and watch the kids play instead of constantly running after them. We also enjoyed the use of the pontoon boat. Whenever the kids got too rowdy we would just load them up and go for a cruise. It was a fabulous distraction and relaxing for the adults as well. The swimming areas were also fabulous. The kids loved the shallow beach area where they could splash around. For an adventurous family that planned to find a new and exciting location each year for vacation we have decided to stick with Ledford’s Landing. It was simply too perfect! We look forward to spending time with you again next summer.

4th year at Ledford's Landing

  • 5 of 5

This was the fourth fall we've rented Ledford's Landing for our group of five couples. Ledford's Landing never disappoints. This time we rented the pontoon boat and cruised the lake.... so relaxing. L.L. has everything we need.... plenty of room to spread out, an updated kitchen, fireplace, and lots of outdoor living space. We kayaked and canoed, and sat on the deck and enjoyed the lake and mountain view. You will not be disappointed with this property.

Stellar location. Good, old-fashioned lake fun

  • 5 of 5

You won't beat the location on Lake Lure. The set up with docks and boat house is great. All in all, we had a really enjoyable time, with the only problem being that there was too much to do and too little time! Hope to return again.

Memorial Day Weekend

  • 5 of 5

This was our first stay at Ledford"s Landing, and the house was excellent. We've rented a house on the lake for the last four years for Memorial Day weekend, and I'd rate this one as the best so far. Excellent layout, with easy access to the lake, along with a stunning view!

This was a three night stay for me and my siblings and our spouses. Everything was perfect!

Perfect spot , perfect house and perfect accommodations! Most of all the view was outstanding and Jenny Cox (home owner) is just the best to work with. The weather was a little cool and the water also, so I'm hoping I can go back soon and enjoy floating on the lake. If I do return to Lake Lure it will for sure be at this place!

Best Property On The Lake

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, my best friend, and our children spent Spring Break at Ledford's Landing. We have found our "Happy Place"! We chose this property because there was enough room for all of us, as well as the option to rent the pontoon boat. It was exactly what we were looking for! The house is clean and super comfortable, and had plenty of room for everyone to sleep and relax. The property is beautiful, and the view of the lake is breathtaking, especially at sunset! We enjoyed the pontoon, kayaks, canoe, and paddle boat more than anything! The owners are very nice and accomodating. We will definitely be back!

The Two Important C's: COMFORTABLE and CLEAN

  • 5 of 5

My husband wanted to spend the holiday with his sister and our five, young, adult children in the mountains. I like to be by the water, so this home was the best of both worlds. We enjoyed Lake Lure at Ledford's Landing as our launching point for a wide variety of activities and day trips in this area. Hiking trails at Chimney Rock, Looking Glass, Sam Knob, and Pounding Mill Overlook was the favorite activities, especially for the boys. The girls enjoyed a fun trip to the Chimney Rock Gemstone Mining Company and the Biltmore. Asheville brought lots of shopping options with a trip to PF Chang's. Night time meant family dinners, games, and various members catching up on their technology through the convenient wi-fi throughout the home. The weather was temperate but rainy over the Christmas and New Years holiday, but we didn't let that stop us. We took breaks in the weather as opportunities to get out on the lake in the owner-provided paddle boat, too. What a treat! Best of all, this home is comfortable for larger familiars. We had nine people, and it was perfect. I have rented several VRBO homes, and I always look for quality and cleanliness. This lake home met both benchmarks! My one suggestion to people who are not familiar with this area is to prepare for curvy roads. Bring your dramamine if you tend to get car sick, and then, set back and enjoy the beauty of the mountains. Lake Lure is not just for the summertime. Our winter vacation with family was ideal!
