Saluda, Rutherfordton, Black Mountain, Mills River, Blowing Rock, Boone, and Brevard are great day-trip destinations. By choosing to visit, you’re supporting the local businesses of Lake Lure, Chimney Rock and Western NC. The Town of Lake Lure is expecting the lake to be at full pond by May of 2026.

House was perfect size for 4 adults and 2 teenage boys. Water and deck were great! The house is a little quirky, The ladders from the water are narrow also, but we were careful. Would recommend and stay there again.

Had a great time here! Great location. The stairs were a lot, but definitely worth being so close to the water! Very clean and organized inside, comfy beds, and a very reasonable to-do list before checking out. Main problem was the spiders and spiderwebs outside! Definitely need a cleaning/pest service for certain times of the year, but would definitely stay here again despite the bugs. Loved the paddle boards and life jackets. Thanks for letting us enjoy the home!

Thanks for the great review and taking the time to write it. We battle the pesky spiders all the time. Given the proximity to the water insecticides cannot be sprayed on and water facing structure. We have brushed all the existing webs. Being the industrious creatures they are they will find a way to rebuild. Thanks again for the positive feedback.

Everything was absolute wonderful!! The steps were a struggle! Don’t assume you can walk them if you aren’t in great shape! We were pitiful going up to the car. It was comical!

Thanks for your review. With regard to the condition of the lake, I researched the information that feeds to our booking platform. We have been diligent since Helene struck to keep up with the recovery efforts of the lake. I had updated the system when the lake began to refill. Unfortunately I did not check the description on the booking sites to see that the update did not flow through. Your comment on the condition of the lake prompted me to check. I apologize for any misunderstandings this caused. The lake should be at full pond no later than Memorial Day.

Great Vacation

Great stay on Lake Lure. There are a lot of steps to get down to the house, but this was made clear and we loved that the house walked right out to the lake. Everything was as communicated, couldn’t ask for an easier renting experience.

I booked this house for our annual family vacation with my husband’s family. The house definitely has a lot of stairs but it’s so nice to be right on the lake!! It was also so nice to be able to dock our boat right there at the house. Overall our stay was great!

Amazing

The listing is underselling itself. The place is incredible. The 100 steps are no big deal and the luggage ‘train’ is clutch. Such a chill wonderful stay. One of the best places on the lake and minutes from the grocery store and restaurants. Will 100% be staying here again

A gem of an experience.

It was so easy and convenient to rent this property. The manager Kathleen is great and added a personal touch to make sure we had all the info. An awesome home to enjoy. We will be back.

Great House

This house was just as described. They even had paddleboards for us to use. We did rent a boat for the week, and we were able to dock it at the house. House was clean, had all the essentials, was very close to Chimney Rock. We will rent again.

Summer vacation

Property manager was very attentive. The house was our favorite so far of our 4 trips to Lake Lure. The downstairs kitchen to deck set up was perfect. The teens loved jumping off the boat house . We rented a boat for a couple of days too. Green paddle board was awesome . Great house. We will be back

Labor Day Weekend Fun!

We had family traveling from Columbia, Greenville and Clemson, SC to stay for the long holiday weekend. Lots of parking available—we had 5 cars and a small kayak trailer. The Lake Lure train for luggage and coolers worked perfectly to get our items to and from the house. We loved the interior spaces and we had everything we needed. Everyone enjoyed swimming, jumping off the dock and the SUPs got lots of use! We also watched “A Breed Apart” that was filmed at the house and all in the lake close to the house. It was neat to see how much has changed and what we recognized. We highly recommend this beautiful home!!

Perfect Getaway

This home is on a quiet cove, perfect for floating on rafts and using SUPs! Check in was smooth, the property was clean and well equipped. We used all of the outdoor decks and toys extensively.. even enjoyed a trip around the lake on a pontoon boat from a kind neighbor! Highly recommend this property. Grocery store is 3 min drive. Plenty to do and see locally yet we just relaxed at the house and enjoyed the serene surroundings!! There are truly 100 steps down to the home.. your cardio workout is included : ) You will not be disappointed with this hidden gem listing!!

Christmas getaway.

We enjoyed the layout of the house and the fireplace in the rooms was a nice touch. Lake views also add a nice touch. The house sits at bottom of the hill so be ready to walk down and up close to 100 steps, fortunately we are an athletic family so we didn’t mind the steps. We had some minor issues that were resolved by Kathleen who was on sight. We enjoyed Chimney Rock, we went zip lining at The Forge and great places to hike like Little Bradley Falls. We did a goat cheese tour and tasting at Round Mountain Creamery (recommended). We dinned at The Highlands-high end, Fish House-casual and La Strada- Italian. Very nice home and location for a getaway.

The house was very nice. It was spacious and well stocked with all the necessary supplies. The bathrooms were great and the whole house was clean and tidy and well furnished. Sadly the lake was missing but this obviously cannot be helped. It would have been an awesome spot with the water. Please understand that this house does require a tremendous amount of stairs to be negotiated. There are the 100 to get from the parking area to the house and the house is three floors. The tram was not working while we were there and is the reason for the four star review. It was a lot of work getting everything to and from the house. Otherwise we had a five star stay and will hopefully be able to get back when the work on the lake is complete.

Disappointed

We were forced to leave early because the septic was not working. Also 2 of the 3 fireplaces were not working. It could have been a great stay, but they need to address the problems.

You are correct and the problems are being addressed. The fireplaces are working and have had annual maintenance performed. The plumbing in the house will be restructured to handle the volume of water needed to comfortably accommodate 8 people in the house.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review of Tucked Away Gem. The TV issue turned out to be a series of unfortunate events. I mistakenly assumed the instructions for using the TV control and Roku control were on the nightstand. When I sent our assistant to help with the TV I was unaware that you were not following the printed directions. My apologies. We have not had any issues with the TV when the directions are followed. The entry to the lake is what it is, the ladders are sturdy but may take some physical strength to use. The unusable floats have been eliminated. We have added a floating pad. I'm assuming that you are unfamiliar with Airbnb's protocol, they use their address in lieu of the guests, hence the Irvine, CA designation. Perfect for family!

My husband and I just stayed here with our four kids (ages 4-12) and my MIL, and we all had a great time!! The train is a fun way to send all your luggage down to the house (there are a LOT of stairs). We’ve rented a lot of vacation homes, and this was the cleanest one we’ve ever stayed at- it was spotless! The beds were comfy and the two masters had relaxing views of the cove. Each bedroom has its own spacious bathroom. The lowest level, where the living room and kitchen are, was a bit dark and a bit crowded for our big group, but the screened-in porches with ceiling fans offered space to spread out into. The kitchen had everything we needed for easy cooking and the appliances are top-notch! The property manager, Kathleen, was very friendly, helpful, and responsive when we had questions. Plenty of towels, and also lake towels were provided! We spent a lot of time in the water with the kids, and the cove is a quiet, safe place to swim. The stand up paddle boards were a lot of fun, and there was also a large assortment of inflatable toys that the kids loved. I had Verizon service at the house. This house is so close to Ingles and we also enjoyed a lunch at The Highlands restaurant (a few minutes’ drive away). Lake Lure Adventure Company is right around the corner if you want to rent a boat. We also walked around to the other side of the cove and enjoyed delicious dessert at the restaurant of The Lodge on Lake Lure. We can’t wait to go back!

Very Nice Place

Very nice home. Lots of wonderful features. Highly recommend. Beautiful lake front, screen in porches, etc. Very nice. However, fancy shower in main bedroom on 2nd floor did not drain well which distracted from an otherwise wonderful property. The concern is greater given that others have shared having the same issue based on online reviews.
