Nice! Quiet, relaxing memorial Day weekend getaway

Yes the lake was closed and off limits but that meant nobody else was using it so it was nice and quiet. Serene and relaxing. Just what we wanted. Talk about unobstructed views. This place has got one killer view! And if you can't swim in the lake or use it, you better be able to look at it

Beautiful stay!

This is a great property on a quiet cove on Lake Lure. So peaceful! The deck spaces were so expansive. Indoors, the place was clean and roomy- great views in the living room & dining room. We had good communication with Marissa and happy we could stay after the Helene hit the area in the fall. We wish the community the best as it rebuilds Chimney Rock.

Beautiful experience but interrupted by Hurricane

This lake house is beautiful and Lake Lure is amazing. We had so much fun swimming, kayaking, jumping and floating. Our stay was cut short because of Hurricane Helene and we are just at a loss for words with the devastation in Lake Lure and neighboring towns. The owners stayed in touch with us throughout when we had power and they were really great. I hope the area can rebuild quickly and others can enjoy this beautiful house!

Great Get-away

If you’re looking for a quiet place on the lake this place is perfect. The cove was perfect for swimming, floating, and using the kayaks/paddle boards. The outdoor spaces invited you to lounge and gather. Home was clean and comfortable having all of the household amenities one could need. We look forward to returning!

Wonderful Weeklong Stay

We had a great time staying at this property for the week of 4th of July! We stayed with my parents, husband and 2 elementary age kids and the house was perfectly sized for us. The owners have obviously put a lot of work into updating the property and supplying everything they think their renters might need. They have a great upper deck with areas to relax and eat. We had breakfast out there every morning enjoying the beautiful view. They also have a great lounging area in full shade down by the water. That was a great space to hang in the afternoons when it was hot and everyone was in and out of the water. The cove is a perfect place to play in the water, lounge, paddle board, kayak, etc. The views from the living room are also beautiful. And we got a lot of use out of the puzzle table! It was an amazing week and we would definitely come back again!

We Love This Place

My family and I have stayed in this lovely home on multiple occasions over the years. There are 6 of us, two adults and 4 children. It is perfect for our crew. The house is comfortable and cozy. The view of the lake and surrounding mountains is gorgeous. The boathouse and dock area have been remodeled and are beautiful. We love coming here and can't wait to get back.

Family lake trip

We highly recommend this beautiful lake house! Our family of four and plus our dog had a great time staying here for a week of relaxation. The new dock was perfect for docking our boat and the house was well stocked with everything needed including Apples to Apples (and other board games and puzzles). Loved it!

Favorite house

We’ve stayed around Lake Lure for almost a decade and this is our favorite house. We love everything about it especially the beautiful boathouse deck. Planning to return in the fall.

What a beautiful spot

We so enjoyed our stay! The view itself is just stunning. We loved the air hockey table! The home had it all. We enjoyed the kayaks as well.

Anniversary weekend at Lake Lure

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend here: the setting was beautiful during the day, the stars were amazing at night, and it was wonderfully quiet. We loved the open concept and the view downstairs. Marissa was incredibly responsive to our requests and the weekend was over way too fast. We enjoyed hiking at Chimney Rock as well as Eagle Rock (especially the Tunnel Trail). We hope to return for another visit!

Beautiful Location

We had a great vacation with our youngest two boys. The house was perfect for our family. Beds were comfortable, nice linens. The bunk beds being close to the master bedroom was perfect. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking meals. The outdoor space was everything we needed and the covered porch was very relaxing. We loved the property and would visit again.

Great location and cozy lake house

We had a wonderful stay at Hickory Nut landing! Pros: The location is awesome and we loved the view of the lake and mountains. It’s a great swimming cove away from crowds. The house is cozy and has plenty of lake house charm. The bathrooms and bedrooms were clean and updated. The beds were comfortable. We enjoyed use of the kayaks. My boys loved jumping off the top deck, the air hockey and the water slide. We liked the split level design of this home. Cons: The downstairs screened porch was awesome but we were sad that the bushes blocked the view of the lake. The outdoor space in general needed lots of maintenance, especially the wobbling deck stairs. The washing machine was unusable due to mildew inside. Dirty linens were left by accident by the cleaners but they were picked up quickly. Sheets were not placed on the bunk room beds. Our host was very responsive and we’d return to this cozy house after some maintenance to the exterior!

Sunset and Soaking

Lovely spot! Beautiful water views and stellar sunsets. Kayaking and floating around in the water near the boathouse and deck were daily delights. Close proximity to hiking, restaurants and attractions. Casual, restive, outdoorsy fun. House was well set up and furnished. Worked ok for our dog too. Neighborhood was quiet but friendly when we walked or floated by. “Sandy beach” spot for kids was weedy. Boathouse/ deck needs some attention but was great for morning coffee, afternoon swims, cocktail hour, sunsets, etc. TV sets everywhere but tough to view live sports! Cell coverage was spotty. Internet was decent. We would definitely return.

Family vacay

Other than having to share 1 bathroom if you didn’t want to walk down steep stairs in the middle of the night, this was a very nice lake cottage. Perfect for our needs. If you don’t mind a few steep steps it’s very Comfortable with a beautiful view and easy access to the lake. Could use a little more in the kitchen and the boat dock needs work. I would definitely stay there again.

The history of a place, or a home is important to our family and this house on Hummingbird Cove really spoke to that sense of place and time. We bought the house from a family that had owned it for over forty years. Their strong connection to the lake was passed on to us and we have tried to honor that relationship between the house, the community and the lake itself.

There are lots of houses on the lake, this one stands alone for having all the "pieces" perfectly put together to create a magical vacation. The quiet cove for swimming and kayaking, the big lake for adventures, thoughtfully renovated and decorated spaces to make inside as inviting as the beauty outside and the attention to detail that meant the world to us, and hopefully to your family as well.
