On the Calfkiller River! Comfortable, quiet home for 6 guests with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a beautiful view and access to the river. 10 minutes to downtown Sparta! Sparta is also well-known as an excellent kayaking and hiking area with several rivers and falls nearby. Other nearby attractions: Calfkiller Brewery, Northfield Vineyards, the Mennonite Communities of Fall Creek Falls and Muddy Pond. If you're looking for a fun get-away, close to downtown, than look no further!

The owners were very kind and welcoming. It was so nice to have things like toilet paper that I didn’t have to replace with my own because it was so horrible lol, enough supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, etc to last for our time there. Homemade banana bread on the counter when we arrived was a lovely surprise. Ventured out on the kayaks which was nice but challenging to get in and out of.

This is a very comfortable home and everything we needed was there. Communication with the host was great. We really enjoyed the out side cats who visited at least 2x day. It was nice to use the kayaks on the river. We would definitely stay again.

This house is so interesting and amazing! Well thought out design and space. It was very clean and the host was very communicative. We even enjoyed the daily fur baby visits. And thank you so much for the gift of delicious bread on the counter. We will certainly stay here again on our next family visit.

The house and property were wonderful! The hosts thought of everything, kitchen had everything you need or would want. There was fresh picked tomatoes and homemade bread to welcome us! The view of the river was so relaxing, and the use of the kayaks was so much fun! The only thing I would have wanted different was to get the check in information the night before. I highly recommend if your looking for a great place to stay and enjoy family time!

We had a wonderful stay at the River House. Beautiful property, all amenities provided, great location to explore Middle Tennessee. Sparta is small but has some great restaurants and is close to larger towns for more shopping/restaurants. Loved the daily visits from the dog, Merle, the cat and the chickens. This rental is one of the best we’ve stayed at. Highly recommend!

Awesome location!! My hubby enjoyed every minute of fishing on the river conveniently situated in the backyard. Lovely deck to enjoy our morning coffee. The hosts thought of everything needed for their guests. One of the best Vrbos we have stayed in and we highly recommend it! The hosts very extremely nice and made us feel so welcome. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in TN

Above and beyond

Our stay here was outstanding! Check in and check out was seamless, with prompt communication. We enjoy hiking and kayaking, and there is an abundance of that in this area! We enjoyed relaxing on the deck overlooking the river, it was very peaceful.

A Fantastic Place to Stay.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the River House

hosts communicated very well, the house was clean, well put together and had a great location. We will definitely stay again on our next trip to Sparta.

Quiet, clean and great accommodations

Stayed here with my wife and sister, very pleasant experience. The river was beautiful. Very close to Sparta and many state parks. Will definitely be coming back.

Perfect Relaxing Getaway

This rental was everything we could have asked for. The house is on the river, with nothing to obstruct the view. The owners provided everything we needed and more for our comfort. We were greeted with a tasty loaf of banana bread and a bottle of wine when we arrived. Followed shortly by a visit from Luna, the sweetest cat. And later Merle, a big, lovable dog. Both visited us every day. We plan to come back next year.

Great accommodations in a great hiking area

We chose this location and rental due to location and other great reviews. It is centrally located to many state parks but there is also the option to kayak right out the back door. Large windows overlook the river with beautiful sunrises. Great options for food and ice cream (our favorite treat) nearby.

Great getaway

Everything was great! It was a good place to get away from all the hustle and bustle. Savannah kept us in the loop despite all the stormy weather and it was overall a great experience! The boys loved Merle the dog and the cat that came and said hello every day!

Lovely Home away from home

The owners have done a wonderful making this a very comfortable location. You feel like a guest, not a costumer

Lovely place

Super cute place and the host left yummy homemade zucchini bread and fresh eggs and veggies. We had vistors every morning (Luna cat and Marge dog) they were the sweetest animals Very relaxing place would have love having more time there. and new friends.

Sibling get together

Weekend away with siblings. Savannah’s place easily accommodated 5 adults. It was well stocked with amenities. We had a wonderful time catching up and making new memories.

Family reunion

The property was well equipped and it was a very nice touch that they provided a bottle of wine, a loaf of sourdough bread and a dozen fresh eggs for us-that really made us feel welcome. We did have a minor incident with the baby and one of the cats So we would say just be mindful about the mix of kids with the animals that stay on the porch Overall, we are very glad we picked the River House

Wonderful Stay

The property is gorgeous, and the home spacious, clean, and comfortable. Owner provided so many things that were above and beyond expectations. Communication was great. We loved kayaking on the river and spending time with our family. We had a wonderful time. Thank you for your hospitality!

Delightful

We had a short trip for my daughter's birthday and loved our stay. The homemade bread and eggs were such a nice surprise when we arrived. Perfect location for a day trip to Rock Island. We had enough space and all we needed for our family of 5. Would recommend!

Felt like home!

My husband and 3 kids stayed at this cute and cozy home for 3 nights. We had a great stay. So many little details that made this feel like a home and not a rental. We loved the visits from Merle and the kitties. The fresh eggs and bread that were waiting for us when we got there was so sweet. We even got a special treat of fresh picked blackberries from the neighbor. I can’t say enough good things about this home. We would love to come stay again.

Amazing location with so much to do

The house was super cute! We were on the go most of our trip, but we did enjoy early mornings on the deck visiting with Merle the dog and Luna the cat and game nights around the adorable breakfast nook. We visited Farmer's Storehouse three times during our short visit (what a treasure!), enjoyed kayaking with Canoe the Caney, and hiked Burgess Falls, Falls Creek Falls, and Rock Island.

Beautiful river home

This property was A+ and then some. The small details that the owner added is also a plus walked into the house to a fresh loaf of sour bread, fresh eggs from the chickens next door. Their home is beautiful the river was a plus with two kayaks the kids got to go out and play in the water the river is slow moving so it was perfect area for my family

Absolutely beautiful home and property!!

This was the best stay we have ever experienced!! The house and property are beautiful. It is in a nice rural area that felt safe for our family trip. The location was also close to everything that we wanted to do (Falls Creek Falls, Burgess Falls, Lost Creek Falls etc.). The accommodations were above and beyond, (towels, blankets, lotion, kleenex, laundry soap etc.) including fresh eggs, bread and a bottle of wine. We took the kayak's down the beautiful and peaceful river, sat on the porch and enjoyed the morning view (sun), saw wild turkey's every day and a beaver (we think) on the river. Especially enjoyed the company of the resident fur kids (Merle the dog is an absolute delight, Luna the cat (is a boss) with her boys and the chickens)!! Also enjoyed meeting Jon (one of the owners) and visiting with him on occasion. Oh, and the online communication with Savannah was prompt and appreciated too!! We felt very comfortable and at home here. Highly recommend for relaxation and peace!! We will come back!!

Our home sits right along side the Calfkiller River, which is a 42.4 mile-long stream in the east-central portion of Middle Tennessee in the United States. It is a tributary of the Caney Fork, and is part of the Cumberland, Ohio, and Mississippi watersheds.
The Calfkiller River is great for fishing and kayaking, and you'll have access directly to the river right outside in the backyard.
