The cabin's location right on the water was ideal. We spent the majority of our time on the deck overlooking the lake. Ease of entering the water and the ability to use canoes and kayaks at our leisure were a welcome convenience. Having a fire at night facing the lake was the highlight of most evenings.The cabin was clean and having a designated parking space(s) was much appreciated. We enjoyed our 2 week stay and would definitely return to lovely Lake Desolation.

We had a great time at Ava’s Cottage. Plenty of space for the four of us. The location is fantastic, in the foothills of the Adirondacks. Peaceful and quiet, but also a quick drive into Saratoga Springs for shopping and dining out.The cottage has pretty much everything you might need for preparing meals. There were a number of classic games and the tv was great for watching the World Cup match. There’s several hiking trails around, as well as public tennis & pickleball courts at the nearby town park.We took advantage of the kayaks to paddle around the lake and since there’s no motorboats on the lake you can safely swim across for a great morning workout or just sit on the deck with your morning coffee and watch the loons.

Ron was great to work with. The cabin is on a small, quiet lake that is easily accessible with the dock and swimming decks out in the water. It is a no wake/motor lake which was a selling point. Paddling around was fun and relaxing. We made a couple of day trips up to 1000 Islands and a shopping and dinner trip to nearby Saratoga Springs (yes the Belmont Stakes Saratoga). We also did our grocery shopping there. The cabin was a little more rustic than we had thought and the fridge needed a good thorough cleaning before we could use it. If you go, make the walk to Tinney's at least once for dinner and coffee at the Galway Connect!

What a gem! We were here for a very quick stay, and loved the cottage and location. Beautiful sunsets, kid friendly beach, very clean, dog friendly, comfortable living area inside and on the deck, and a delicious little restaurant right at the lake! We hope to return again someday.

Amazing stay!

We had such a great week at Ava's Lakeside Cottage. The lake was so calm and clean, perfect for swimming, fishing and kayaking. My daughter enjoyed catching multiple salamanders daily also. The house was very cozy and very well kept. We definitely be returning in the future.

Quiet Lakehouse

Cute cottage on the Lake with beautiful views. We enjoyed our stay. Quests should plan or be aware restaurants nearby not open Monday and Tuesday so plan accordingly. Also plumbing so sensitive there is a porta potty on the property.

Hi, The plumbing in Ava's cottage is fine there are no problems. Both hot and cold water function and so does the drainage, but if guests would let us know if/when a problem occurs we can take care of it ASAP.. The toilet/septic is on a holding tank that needs to be pumped out periodically, which was just accomplished yesterday after the guests let us know that the toilet would not flush. Had we known about this sooner we would have had it resoled quiker. Yes, there is a portapotty on site for when the tank pumping is needed.

Stayed a couple of days to relax and paddle on the lake. Loved being right on the water with effortless access to kayaks and equipment. Incredible lake view from inside the super comfortable cozy house. Walked to neighborhood pub, easy drive to Saratoga. I’ll be back!

Tranquility

Enjoyed the peace & quiet of the area. The cabin sits at the top of a mountain overlooking a lake. Keep in mind after turning off "Main St " the house is on a single lane non paved road. If another vehicle approaches some one will need to back up. A big plus is the bar/restaurant (with great inexpensive food ) walking distance from the dwelling. Owners were very responsive.

A great getaway!

Our group had a really lovely time staying on the lake. The view, the ability to take a boat out in the morning, and a dip in the afternoon... a delight! It's a little more rustic indoors, so be prepared to bring things like olive oil, or pepper, if you're planning on cooking. And linens aren't included. But beyond that, the VHS collection was very fun, and the grill and fire pit were also a great way to spend the evening. Thank you to Robb for a wonderful long weekend!

I'll be Back

Beautiful cottage on the lake. Serene. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Nice size kitchen and livingroom plus an enclosed porch with two comfortable couches that over sea the lake. Had a table to eat or play cards and games. Good for kids and adults. Host was accommodating and give access to rowboats and kayaks which we took advantage of. I loved staying there and plan to be back in the next summer. We loved the fire pit and all the chairs for lounging and table for eating on the patio that overlooks the lake. Resultant "Tinney's" walking distance with great food and prices. I loved the place-the 3 bedrooms and they also have sofa that I believe pull out to beds if you needed. Thanks for a great stay.
