LOCATION: Escape to The Riverside Cabin — a classic, hand-hewn log retreat in the Peaceful Valley area of Allenspark, Colorado, just 11 miles from Rocky Mountain National Park's Wild Basin entrance. Set along the Middle St. Vrain Creek at 8,000 feet, this is the mountain getaway that actually delivers on the promise: crisp air, wildlife out the window, a six-person hot tub under the stars, and genuine quiet. No highway noise. No crowds. Just the river, the peaks, and the kind of reset you came to Colorado for.
The cabin sleeps 4 guests across 3 bedrooms and 4 beds, with 3.5 bathrooms and a beautifully upgraded interior that blends mountain character with modern comfort.
AMENITIES: Everything you need is here: - Six-person hot tub under the stars - Cathedral, floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the creek and mountains - Wrap-around deck with outdoor dining, lounge seating, and a swing - Fully equipped chef's kitchen - Living room with grand piano and stunning mountain views - Primary suite with large soaker tub - Luxury linens and bedding in all bedrooms - Plush towels in all bathrooms - Downstairs family room with TV — great for kids - Loft with reading nook and 70-inch HD TV - Dedicated office space with monitor, keyboard, mouse, and Wi-Fi - Full-sized washer and dryer - Bathroom configuration: 1 full bath, 2 three-quarter baths, 1 half-bath - Large wrap-around deck with grill, dining table, lounge seating, and a swing - Free Wi-Fi (best available service for this location; supports streaming and multiple devices) - No A/C — not needed. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: Rocky Mountain National Park's Wild Basin area is your front door to Colorado's best hiking. Thirteen trails lead to waterfalls, alpine lakes, and high-country wilderness — including Calypso Falls, Ouzel Falls, Copeland Falls, Pear Lake, Bluebird Lake, and Sandbeach Lake. Download AllTrails or Komoot for trail maps and conditions.
Estes Park, 25 minutes north, is the classic Colorado mountain town — great restaurants, shops, wildlife, and the legendary Stanley Hotel.
Nederland, 23 minutes south, is Boulder County's most eclectic mountain community: breweries, live music, coffee houses, and the gateway to Indian Peaks Wilderness.
Eldora Ski Resort, 30 minutes west, is a local favorite — convenient, affordable, and one of the few ski areas east of the Continental Divide.
WILDLIFE: Moose, elk, deer, bear, and coyotes visit the property regularly. Enjoy them from the deck — but please do not approach or feed any wildlife. It is dangerous and illegal in Colorado. Do not leave food in your vehicle; bears are capable of breaking into cars.
WINTER: A 4WD vehicle is recommended for November through April. The road is paved and winter-maintained, but mountain conditions vary. Use the OpenSnow app (search "Peaceful Valley, CO") for accurate local snow conditions.
If it snows during your stay, a shovel is located near the hot tub and a second near the grill on the deck. A snow removal service handles the driveway — our neighbor to the west. No alarm needed when you see him.

We were looking for a cabin to serve as a home base for hiking in RMNP. This cabin was in the perfect location- less than 20 minutes from the Wild Basin entrance! Also close to the Indian Peaks Wilderness area. We enjoyed hiking trips in the mornings, afternoons on the deck listening to the river, and evenings in the hot tub. It could not have been more perfect!
This cabin was exactly as described and absolutely wonderful! Very clean, well stocked, modernized, hot tub was clean and easy to use. Hosts were extremely responsive and the guidebook for the cabin contained everything we needed to know. The property is so peaceful and enjoying morning coffee on the expansive and comfortable deck watching the sun come up over the mountainside was the highlight of our time there.

Thank you so much for a wonderful review! We are so happy that you had a wonderful time and welcome you back!
Our stay was one of the best experiences I’ve had through VRBO. The host was incredibly attentive, ensuring everything went smoothly and addressing any issues promptly, as if we were her top priority. The house itself was exactly what we needed, set in a beautiful location. I will definitely be returning in the future! If you’re looking for a spotless, well-appointed, and inviting place to stay, this is it.

Everything about this stay was perfect! The owners had perfect communication and allowed us to use the property for our needs which was perfect! I had a lot anxiety booking out of state but it ended up perfect and I can't stop raving about how great this beautiful this place is and how it really made our stay in Colorado better.
This property has the WOW factor from the moment you drive up. Very comfortable and had all the essentials. Our family enjoyed every inch of this incredible log cabin experience. Our 3 year old grandson summed it up perfectly..."I really really really like my mountain home"

Thank you so much for the wonderful review! It is so great to hear you had a wonderful family time! Please come again!
The cabin was spectacular and my family thoroughly enjoyed this space. The beds super comfy, amenities in cabin very adequate and the wrap around deck was just what we needed to relax and spend time with each other listening to the St Vrain creek rushing by the property. This was one of our favorite VRBO's as a family of 10 and hope to return one day when we are back in this area. Thank you Don & Vonda-you are wonderful hosts and I appreciate you checking in with us regarding our first night in the cabin. Don't hesitate to rent this wonderful property!
Our family had an amazing time during our stay. The cabin is cozy, well equipped, has comfortable beds, and a nice big tub and shower in the main bathroom. Many rentals didn’t allow children and this cabin had all the necessities for them. If you have toddlers who are climbers come prepared with a child’s gate to keep them on the main level. Vonda, Don, and Shelby were always helpful and available with anything we needed in making it a perfect stay.

Thank you Carolyn! We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for being great guests as well and taking care of our home.
This is a beautiful mid century modern log cabin situated on a stunning mountainside with the St Vrain creek running across the street in front of the cabin. Very quiet and peaceful! Our family of 6 adults and 4 children enjoyed this cabin immensely and it was very well stocked with everything we could possibly need. Don & Vonda are attentive hosts and even checked with us on the first morning in the cabin to be sure we had arrived and everything was satisfactory. Do not hesitate to rent this property-every single thing about it was lovely! Thank you Don & Vonda for everything!

Thank you, Cheri for the wonderful review! We are so happy that you had a great time at our mountain cabin! Hopefully you can come and join us again!
Our family loved this cabin! It fit all of our needs! The wrap around deck was awesome with such a beautiful view and the sounds of the river! We played games in the evening on the big dining room table. Our one year old granddaughter was with us and while we brought all of her things we wouldn’t have had to! There was a nice high chair and pack n play! The cabin was centrally located between some neat mountain towns. Went to Estes one day and Nederland the next! The hosts were very easy to reach! Overall we had a wonderful family vacation! Highly recommend!

The property was perfect for our family of 6. The layout worked really well with the master and guest downstairs with a shared room upstairs. Lots of room to spread out with the downstairs living room, upstairs area, and basement. The kitchen was just right and had everything available that you'd need. The decor was just like the pictures and my family loved the homey/mid-century modern cabin vibe. The view and creek across the road makes for a perfect setting for a mountain getaway. The drive into Estes Park was easy (around 30 minutes) and convenient and you're also close enough to head to Boulder for a day trip. If you're considering a home base for Rocky Mountain National Park, this is your spot. Thanks for a great stay!

Hi, we are Don and Vonda Downs. Though we hail from the midwest we have been Coloradans for over 22 years. We love both the beauty and serenity of the outdoors as well as the multitude of activities the Colorado climate and terrain afford. Don is an avid hiker (he's climbed 34 of Colorado's 14'ers), cyclist, and runner. Though he loves his hobbies - more than anything he loves and is thankful for his wonderful wife and kids. We also love our Riverside Cabin and are very thankful to be able to share it with you. Enjoy!
