Whether you are planning your first visit or returning for your annual family reunion, there is much to explore and enjoy on the 28-mile long and one mile wide barrier island. Uncrowded, natural beaches, free from high rises, traffic and crowds, offer many simple pleasures – excellent fishing, kayaking, outstanding bird watching and awesome star gazing – just to name a few. And the beaches are pet friendly, so no one gets left behind at vacation time!

The Gulf of Mexico, The Apalachicola Bay and the Apalachicola River converge to form one of the most productive estuaries in the world. These island waters are nationally recognized as a fisherman’s paradise. Fresh oysters and sweet, plump shrimp are harvested locally and sold at the numerous fresh seafood dealers. You may also enjoy these seafood delicacies at the excellent restaurants on St. George Island and nearby Apalachicola and Eastpoint.

There are a number of full service marinas and public launch ramps available in Apalachicola, Eastpoint, Carrabelle, and now on St. George Island. Bruce State Park at the eastern end of the Island also provides excellent kayaking launches.

The newest addition to the Island is the majestic Cape St. George Light, rebuilt from the fallen remains of the final Cape St. George Lighthouse. Visit the St. George Island Visitor Center and Lighthouse Museum and learn about its fascinating history.

We had a blast! Thank you so much for letting us stay in your house. St. George was great and you have a fabulous house. I cant recommend Chris Robinson enough as a fishing guide. We loaded up on Redfish on the grass flats and also caught a pile of trout and flounder. I hooked one Tarpon about 50lbs but he threw the hook after the third jump and after stripping about 25 yards of line off the reel. I had chances of hooking 3 others but couldn’t get them to bite. Thanks again for letting us stay. Ill be sure to pass on your listing to our friends.

another stay, another great experience

For those that depend on reviews to make their beach house selection, then this is it! We have stayed at this house multiple times over the years and every year it is awesome. This house is located in the gated plantation....basically once you cross the bridge onto the island, turn right and follow that to the end and you'll dead-end into the gated subdivision. The house is located RIGHT on the beach and if the water is choppy or you have small kids, then you have your own in-ground pool. This can also be heated as well depending on time of season. If you want to grill steaks, etc, there is a gas grill down below. The place is dog friendly as well. If you like to get out in the water, there are also kayaks and paddle boards. The inside of house holds a ton of people and is very spacious. Shopping, food, etc is all right down the road where you crossed the bridge. Everything is very convenient. If you like golf, St James Bay golf is the place to be....just remember they are usually closed on Mondays. THE BEST PART ABOUT THIS HOUSE......IS YOU DEAL DIRECTLY WITH THE OWNER, NOT A RENTAL MGMT COMPANY. Gordon is the owner and if you need anything, he is always available. He will usually even call you once you arrive to ensure all is on point. There's just something to be said for dealing with the owner directly, rather than a mgmt company. Well, that's my review......good luck and I hope this review helped with making your decision.

Another great week at A Reel Deal

Love staying at this house but had to give a 4 star this year. We arrived at 5:00 pm and the cleaning service was still there! Usually check in is 4:00 pm. Come to find out they just started cleaning! We had things that needed to be refrigerated so we brought our luggage/coolers on the back deck. We waited until 7:00 pm to get into the house which is when the cleaning service finally left! I'm sure they were rushing and in doing so neglected to leave toilet paper, paper towels & kitchen dish towels. Fortunately, as a "seasoned" beach goer, I had all of the above...just in case. As I said, love this house, always well supplied & Gordon has always been nothing but great at details & making sure things run smoothly, but wanted to share this ONE time mishap. Would have hated this to happen to first timers. The rest of the week was great, fishing always good this time of year, & great weather!

Great location.

Great location. Close to beach and activities. Property and home could use some T.L.C. Much maitanance needed including all out door furniture barely functional.

When you want to get away from it all...

The Plantation on St. Georg Island, Florida is a beautiful area. We spent January and February, 2017 there. A Reel Deal sits right on the water with 28 miles of sandy beach right out the back. Great morning dog walks or shelling. Beautiful sunrises. You can watch dolphins and pelicans straight from the deck. The house is very spacious and comfortable to live in. Easy to have friends come visit. All the service amenities you need are within a 15-30 minute drive on the island, in Eastpoint and Apalachicola. Best oysters at Lynn's; Best seafood shop: 13 mile; Best seafood restaurant: The Owl Cafe; Best cosmopolitan restaurant: The Place Upstairs. If you want peace and quiet, this is the place to be. Take your martini out back in the evening and be amazed at the star covered sky.

Paradise Perfection

This was our first annual family beach trip and our first time to St. George Island so we had extremely high hopes for the vacation. Gordon's home surpassed our expectations and was exactly what we needed! The house was in great shape, far better than the pictures show. The views from inside and outside the house are breathtaking! Throughout the week, we had 8 adults and 3 children in the home and had plenty of space. The mornings spent in rocking chairs on the deck were made even better by all of the dolphins dancing close to shore. Both the adults and kids loved the pool and the convenient distance to the beach was great. We could go back and forth to the house for snacks, naps, etc with ease. We had plenty of beach space and it all seemed very private and secluded. We can't wait to go back!
