The Garden of Light is a private two-story, three-bedroom villa fully furnished and equipped. It sleeps up to six guests with two master bedrooms and one smaller room with two twin beds. The house sits in the botanical garden at less than 1 min walk through a private path to one of the most beautiful beaches on the Island.

The Garden of Light villa is in the Monticello estate, a luxurious and private 5-acre getaway beachfront property with a garden, gazebos, and cabanas. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean with great swimming and snorkeling in crystal blue shallow water, perfect for children. There are miles of beautiful pink sand to walk on and a large gazebo in the tropical garden to enjoy while listening to the sound of the sea.

Quiet, secluded and spacious. Comfortable beds. The proximity to, privacy and the amount of beach front can't be beat. One word of advice -- get a bigger set of wheels. You'll still make it in a sedan, but you would feel much better driving the stretch of the road between the house and the main road in an SUV.

Family stay at Garden of Light

We loved our stay at the Garden of light Villa. We had two young kids with us and there was a lot of space for them to play when we weren’t at the beach. The beach in front of the property was very secluded and we loved going on beach walks in the evening. I would definitely recommend this villa to others!

Last Minute Vacation

We booked this trip one week before we left. The owner was very accommodating of the last minute booking. The property was better than described. Beautiful remote location with the beach almost totally to ourselves as far as we could see. I 100% recommend this property.

Ocean Front Paradise

Garden of Light on the Monticello Estate was a comfortable, ocean front, well equipped home south of Governor’s Harbor In Palmetto Point. The decks and porches were awesome and the motion lights lit up the stairs outside for coming and going. We would stay again for sure.

Incredible location

We stayed 9 days. Incredible location. The beach is just fabulous and very private. The property offers everything to enjoy the house or the beach. Tons of outside furniture to enjoy every part of the house and a lot of different items to take to the beach or on a get away. Very clean and well maintained! One thing to note: the main floor and second floor do not connect from inside the house, you need to use the outside stair/balcony. We were surprised at first, but it hasn't been a issue. Overall incredible stay, would go again and highly recommend.

BEAUTIFUL BEACH AREA AND CLOSE TO HOUSE

THE BEACH WAS BEAUTIFUL AND CLOSE TO THE HOUSE. THERE WAS NO ONE ON THE BEACH, BUT US. WE WENT DURING THE OFF-PEAK TIME SO A LOT OF RESTAURANTS AND STORES WAS CLOSED, BUT WE ENJOYED THE QUIET TIME TOGETHER. THERE WAS A HOMECOMING GOING ON AND WAS NEAT TO GO TO. THERE WAS RAIN FOR A FEW DAYS AND THE SEA WAS ROUGH. THE GLASS WINDOW BRIDGE WAS CLOSED FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS BECAUSE OF WAVES GOING OVER. I RECOMMEND GOING DURING THE PEAK TIME.

The house was clean and comfortable. We had a couple power outages and the generator came on immediately. The house has a extensive DVD catalog of movies. The cable tv never worked, but we enjoyed watching movies, playing cards and reading. We didnt anticipate that some of the restaurants would be closed due to it being low season. The Shell station in town had a good selection of groceries. The house has a book detailing all the beaches and how to access them along with another book detailing and rating snorkeling spots which is handy while exploring. The "road" to the house is pretty rough but our rental Nisson Cube made it just fine.

My own Beach

Although it was initially hard to find, it was more than I could hope for. The house consisted of two separate apartments. The upstairs consisted of 1 bedroom, kitchen, dining area and bathroom. Downstairs, where my son stayed there were 2 bedrooms, a living room with a small fridge and another bathroom. Also downstairs there was a separate laundry room. There was a porch on both levels in the front and a patio in the back on the upper level. There is also a sitting area on the side of the house. All around the house, there were plenty of chairs and lounges to relax. From the back porch it’s a 1 minute walk to the beach. It’s beautiful. In 4 days we saw 4 people on the beach. Great vacation, will definitely go back.

Absolutely gorgeous!

My husband and I both agreed, we had the best vacation yet at Garden of Light! We chose this place because we wanted to be on the beach but didn't want to break the bank to do it. The pictures showed it to be exactly what we were looking for but honestly they don't capture just how beautiful this location is. After arriving, one of the first things we did was head down the path to check out the beach and the view just took our breath away - absolutely stunning! We traveled to Lighthouse beach one day and North to Queen's Bath another day but we both decided the best place to be was right on "our" beach out front. We felt like we had the entire beach to ourselves, only seeing a few people here and there and usually only in the morning when they were enjoying a walk. We swam, walked the beach, enjoyed the shade of the cabana, and drank in the gorgeous view - so relaxing! The communication with the owner, Barbara, was great and she was very helpful in providing information about the house and the island that came in very handy. We referred to her info and suggestions multiple times. Mr. and Mrs. Williams were so nice and they obviously take great pride in their work - they do a wonderful job taking care of the house and grounds! We look forward to staying here again - it was just perfect!

Eleuthera at its best

The property is good even for small family like mine. Definitely rent a jeep to reach here. It is very rough jungle road with many bumps and paddles near the house. The beach just in 100 yards from the house’s balcony. Very beautiful , very clean. Really no people around. Just watch those big rocks in the water: walk another 100 yards to the right for a spot without rocks. There was no trash bags in the house, no baking sheet, although baking recipes book. No coffee, tea, sugar. You can buy everything in a convenient store near by - just 5-10 mins drive. But we literally needed 1 trash bag for our stay. The Tipi’s restaurant near by (5 mins drive) is just the best: by the ocean, live music, great choice of drinks and food. You can reach it walking the beach, but we would not recommend if you are not rock climber. Definitely going come back since we got more experienced now. The Rock Sound airport is closer though.

Fantastic Beach

The beach here is fantastic---pristine and remote. We saw only a few people each day we were there. We saw two jet skis one day, but other than that it was completely quiet and serene. It is approximately 100 steps from the back of the house to the edge of the cliff and then 16 steps down some pretty steep stairs to the beach. You cannot see the beach from the house, but once you get there, the view is beautiful. We were really happy with the beach chairs that were set up on the beach---large metal chairs with cushions. The house itself was very, very clean and had nice appliances, as well as a stock of beach accessories (buckets, cooler, boogie board, etc.). The washer and dryer worked great, as did the mini split AC units in each bedroom. There is no AC in the bathrooms or kitchen, but between the many fans provided and the AC units in the bedrooms, we stayed nice and cool. The house is functional, but it really needs to be updated, and the king size mattress replaced. The bedding and towels need to be replaced. The house is clearly well-loved/used, but the accumulation of old and mismatched bedding, towels, dinnerware, etc. does not enhance the property.

Island beauty at its best!! A gem of a place!

We traveled to Eleuthera as a family of six to stay at the Garden of Light. We always tend to look for more quiet vacation rentals away from the crowds. The Garden of Light was an absolute perfect find for us! The house was great, it had everything we needed for our stay. Barbara was so helpful with giving us all the information we needed before our arrival and shared everything one might need to know about the island. Upon our arrival , Mr and Mrs Williams, the property managers, were there to greet us and answer any questions we had. If you needed anything during your stay, they were there for you. They even cooked us a fabulous dinner our last night there. They do catering on the side. The beach was absolutely beautiful and we really had it all to ourselves. There are very few houses along the beach. Tippys restaurant was about a mile and a half walk away, which was great. There are many beautiful beaches to visit and restaurants to go to. It is good to make reservations ahead of time because they fill up fast. The people are so friendly and it feels very safe on the island. We had an amazing time at the Garden of Light and highly recommend staying here. It’s so beautiful, peaceful and relaxing! We can’t wait to go back!!!

Fantastic Experience!

We had an overall great experience with the 'Garden of Light' house within the Monticello ground. The communication with Barbara was excellent - always fast, informative and helpful - from the very first contact during the booking process until the end of our stay. While on location, the direct contact with the caretaker Winifred Williams was also always very helpful. The 'Garden of Light' house is not new, but well-maintained and in good technical shape, including fast wireless internet and life TV. The furniture and beds are comfortable and of good quality, the kitchen is well equipped and spacious. The grounds around the house are beautiful, well-kept with lots of palms, bougainvillea and flowers. The 150 feet walk to the beach was always a pleasure, often with sight of a flock of Anis (local cuckoos!). We specially liked the many outside seating options. Depending on activity and preference for shade or sun we could choose between several terraces, decks, and one pavillon at the house - and of course the 2 beach-decks, the upper one for the fantastic view and the lower one directly on the beach. Last but not least the beach itself: a fantastic soft pink sanded beauty, practically fully private as there are only 7 private access points to the entire 3/4 mile beach! During 8 days of stay we never saw more than 8 people spreading over the entire beach. Overall an fantastic experience - we felt very private, happy and always safe at Monticello!!

Garden of light

The beach pictures in the listing are outdated. Storms have eroded the beach, the hillside, retaining wall, steps and palapa. The Palapa for Garden of light is gone. The stairs have been rebuilt, but to a very steep angle which makes it very challenging to carry the provided chairs and umbrella down to the beach. Do to the angle of the steps, it is best to hang on with both hands. It is a very quite location with a gorgeous beach that does not have much traffic of other people. Since garden of light is set back from the beach cliff, it has less wind and therefor more bugs. use your bug spray when out on the decks. Upstairs shower hot water was inconsistent. We were unable to get the downstairs TV to connect to any of the apps, though it showed the Roku was connected. Upstairs TV connected Refilling the 5 gal water container was a bit of a challenge The 2 stores where often out, but purchasing individual gallon containers was possible. The 2 stores in governors harbor where basic, limited veggies, no fresh meats or fish, all Frozen. Despite reports of fishing boats going out every day, they did not, and no success at purchasing fresh fish in governors harbor during the 10 day stay. I was successful in Tarpum bay with purchasing fresh fish on a Thursday at 130 pm when the boats came in with loads of snapper. Bottom line, governors harbor area is a food desert, properties beach is great but treacherous to walk down the stairs unless holding on with both hands, one shared palapa.

Paradise in Eleuthera

The property, gardens, views were very beautiful. We could hear the ocean waves but would love to have a view from house. The path to the ocean and benches at the top of the stairs was a very beautiful view. The beach was clean and great for walking. Even with ocean waves, getting into the water was accessible. The outside areas were well furnished and delightful to use. Especially the deck off of the kitchen. We did not expect the house to be divided into two living levels. To access up; kitchen and 1 bedroom, and down; living room and 2 bedrooms, the stairway is outside. That was doable but it felt like 2 houses. If people downstairs wanted early breakfast, it was disturbing to upstairs sleepers. Upstairs people didn’t feel like they had a living room when downstairs went to bed. That said, we managed. The BBQ grill was a disappointment because it didn’t have grates. It was a flat grill like cooking on a pan in the house. Never seen anything like that. We like the center location on the Island. One person in our party had a leg injury before arriving. Care received at Eleuthera Wellness Clinic was excellent and so appreciated. It was only 10 minutes from the house. Unfortunately, the wound reached a point where one couple had to return to the US early. Luci and Barbara were very kind and understanding. They were immediately available to communicate with and very sympathetic to the situation. Mozzatos have a house on 10 Bay Beach on Caribbean side. Would love to see it!

Amazing stay!

We have never been to Eleuthera before and we absolutely loved the island. The house was very clean, and had all the amenities that we needed for a wonderful stay. The beach in the backyard felt like it was our own and it was never crowded. The property manager Daniel was very helpful and showed us around the area. We highly recommend this house for anyone looking to visit Eleuthera.

Ocean front home with everything we could have possibly needed

From the moment we booked a stay at Garden of Light Barbara and Luci were very helpful in getting us organized and ready for our trip. The house was exactly as pictured in the listing. The kitchen was fully stocked with all sorts of cooking implements. There were endless beach towels and even snorkel gear and boogie boards. The beach in front of the house was stunning! Most days we were the only ones there. Overall, it was clear we made the right choice by booking a stay at Garden of Light.
