Bayport Cottage is located on Newbury Neck peninsula with panoramic ocean views all the way to Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mountain. We're privately located in a quiet setting on protected Union River Bay. Perfect for lazing around right on water's edge. We're off the beaten path but close to everywhere you'll want to visit. Conveniently located near Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Blue Hill and Ellsworth, which translates into sightseeing attractions, outdoor activities, shops, restaurants and much more.
Bayport Cottage is furnished in an upscale manner with 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths, including a king-size master suite on the first floor. Bayport features an open-style living plan with a cathedral ceiling, a beautifully finished lower level, and a large oceanside deck. For a more luxurious experience, we've just remodeled both bathrooms and the kitchen all featuring granite countertops. We provide all the comforts of home, but with a great view from every room.
Come experience it for yourself. Enjoy everything we have to offer. Come enjoy all the sights and sounds of the rocky coast of Maine!
We strive to provide you with the perfect vacation experience.
The Rock: Everyone who stays at Bayport knows about 'The Rock'. So what's the rock, you ask. It's a huge flat rock that appears at low tide. You'll want to carry out a beach chair so you can sit on what seems to be your own private island and bask in the fresh ocean breezes. It’s really that good.
Perry's Lobster Shack: Perry Long's Lobster Shack is right on Newbury Neck where you can eat fresh lobster on Perry's pier out over the ocean. The setting is great and the lobsters are even better. Wait for your lobster to cook with a glass of wine while Perry steams 'em up for you. You can take them home or enjoy them right there. It's the best lobster roll we've found. And, believe me, we've tried a lot of them.
Best Public Beach: Ssshh! Don't tell anyone, but one of the best local beaches is right here on Newbury Neck, just up the road from the Cottage--a pebble beach with a grand view of the mountains.
We looked extensively on the Maine coast before deciding on Surry. You know what they say about real estate. Location, location, location. We couldn't be any happier with our location. We love being on the water with the view of the mountains. Being close to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor is ideal. We are halfway between Ellsworth and Blue Hill. Surry is tucked away and a great spot for relaxing. A two-week vacation wasn't enough time. So, we bought our own little piece of Maine and built Bayport Cottage. Now we can go back again and again.
Many of our guests tell us that Bayport Cottage is the best vacation rental they've ever stayed. We strive to make your stay at Bayport Cottage the ideal vacation experience with superb and friendly service.
Great location in Maine. We were able to be close to Acadia National Park, without being over whelmed by people.
Surry is peaceful and quiet, lovely back roads to explore.
House for us was perfect as we needed a main floor bedroom for one of our guests. Very clean, well equipped, especially the kitchen. Really enjoyed the water view in the morning and walking the beach.
Thank you so much
If you want privacy in a lovely environment along with beautiful sun rises over your own beach, Bayport Cottage is the place. The house is gorgeous without being pretentious, comfortable and outfitted with everything necessary for a wonderful stay. The cottage is near Ellsworth, Bar Habor, Blue Finn and Acadia Park. We were always able to find something interesting to do, see or eat! As an artist I was especially thrilled to find Virginia Sarsfield near Blue Finn who creates homemade papers. We also recommend a day trip to Isle Au Haut (via ferry). If you think you might be interested in booking Bayport Cottage and spending time experiencing Maine, do not second guess yourself.
We had high expectations for our first trip to Maine, and the cottage exceeded them all. It was perfectly located about 40 minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia. Close enough for day trips without all of the crazy hustle and bustle.
Mary Anne was wonderful to work with. We really appreciated all of the lovely touches like fresh cut flowers, chocolates, and a special basket of goodies. It had everything and beyond to make us feel at home. The cottage was beautifully decorated and very comfortable for our family of five. While most of our days were spent hiking and exploring Acadia, Bass Harbor, the Schoodic Penninsula, and Ellsworth we really loved having the beautiful yard to come home to every evening. It was so nicely landscaped and privately tucked away in the woods, and our kids had such a blast exploring the beautiful shoreline and beach that were just steps away. I easily could have spent days doing absolutely nothing but watching and listening to the wildlife, and reading on the hammock and swing near the shoreline. We couldn't have asked for more. If we ever get back to Maine...we will definitely be staying at Bayport Cottage.
The Weber Family
We could not have picked a more perfect place for our Maine vacation. Our hosts, Mary Anne and Bill, thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. By going in October, we were treated to fabulous fall color on the property as well as having the special treat of seeing a pair of loons on the bay. We walked down to the water's edge from our backyard, just a few steps away, and visited with them daily. The home is so comfortable and had all of the amenities. It is set back from the road so we weren't bothered by road noise. We recommend this property to anyone who wants to enjoy a true Maine experience and enjoy it in comfort! Pam & Rom Welborn
Our entire family enjoyed our stay at Bayport Cottage! Mary Anne greeted us upon our arrival and showed us the house. Bayport Cottage has everything you need to cook in or to lounge around. The basket of treats was very thoughtful!
The house was the perfect size for our family of 5 and there was plenty to do at the property. We enjoyed our own private beach and caught fish right from the shore. We rented kayaks for the week and got to explore by water - seeing porpoise, seals and bald eagles!
Shopping and restaurants are within a 10-15 minute drive of the cottage and Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are less than one hour away. We enjoyed shopping and eating in Bar Harbor; hiking in Acadia National Park; watching the sunrise at Cadillac Mountain; sea kayaking on the western shore of MDI; fishing and catching lobsters out of Southwest Harbor and having a great meal in Bass Harbor.
Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer to enjoy the many, many other fun things there are to do in the area! Can't wait to visit Maine again some day!
The cottage was ideal for our vacation week. Tucked in the woods but on the waterfront gives you the best of both worlds. Acadia National Park was close enough for easy day trips. We took full advantage of the well-equipped kitchen as well as the lobster pound down the road.
Canoeing, kayaking, bicycling, and swimming are as close by as right out your door. Or go to Acadia National Park, where you'll find all the same activities and hiking too. Wildlife is abundant. Don't be surprised if you spot a whale from the top of Cadillac Mountain.
Bar Harbor, Blue Hill, and Ellsworth are a short drive away where you'll want to go for great food, shopping and lots to do. Whale watching, boat rides are just some of the activities to consider. Several golf courses are within an easy drive. Eating fresh lobster is another regular pastime. Something for everyone or come just to relax in the fresh ocean breezes.
