About this property
South End - Hike, Bike, Swim Relax
Finding rejuvenation and motivation is often a combination of mental and physical stimulation. All are here. Experience the muse which sparked such local classics as The Witch of Tahquitz, Lucille Balls Palm Springs, The Best Guide Ever to Palm Springs Celebrity Homes, and Palm Springs True Crime.
The home of Southern California author Eric G. Meeks, where he wrote some 20 books, many on desert lore. Browse the library of his collection while you walk the halls, refresh your spirit, and rejuvenate in the spa. It was built by Paul Troesdale in 1948, with brick interior walls, and is an exemplary exhibit of mid-century architecture,. Eric and Tracey Meeks have owned it since the end of the last century. They raised 1 natural, and seven adopted children in this lovingly maintained home.
For your enjoyment, amenities include:
• Four desert-cruiser bicycles to explore the surrounding city at a leisurely pace. Multiple bike paths extend from the edges of this residence, making downtown Palm Springs, the Tahquitz Creek paths, and the newly being developed Central Park-like environs of the Mesquite Desert Preserve are only minutes away.
• The kitchen is outfitted in chef worthy Bertozzoni appliances, some spices and oils are included as a starter kit, and sufficient cookware is provided, making your cooking experience a superior encounter.
• Vintage vinyl record player and some 20 classic albums, to play at your leisure. Feel welcome to bring your own and dance the days and nights during your stay.
• A comfortable heated pool, with floating lounges provided. A tanning deck for wading, and a spa. Chaise lounges litter the decking for pleasurable sunbathing.
• Large TVs in the living room and bedrooms. Wifi access to every streaming service with your own accounts. A collection of DVDs in the main room.
• Board games, a chess set, and jigsaw puzzles to help you while away the hours while you relax.
• An original, stacked brick barbecue, that only burns charcoal briquets, produces mouth-watering steaks, chicken, and fish upon demand. Two bags of briquets are provided.
• A circular firepit with four Adirondack chairs to lean back and enjoy the evening sunsets, mountain views, and warm nights.
• Two working areas for you to compose your own sonnets, novels, or work treatises.
• An ample collection of recent books to tantalize your mind and help you escape. Including many of Eric G. Meeks’s own works.

About the host
Hosted by Tracey Meeks

My husband and I are long time Desert residents and don't mind sharing our knowledge of the area. We recently moved to Palm Desert and decided we enjoyed this home so much we wanted to share it with you. It is a 1948 Trousdale, a true mid century modern, but it has had extensive updating. My husband and I own a real estate company in the Desert and have both been selling for many years. If you need help in this arena we are also happy to help. We know that this home sits in one of the most prime locations, enjoyable locations within minutes of down town Palm Springs and also close to shopping and many other enjoyable amenities. We enjoy the bike riding trails, the serenity of our backyard with the beautiful mountain views. All the cool little restaurants and vintage shops Palm Springs has to offer. My real estate license number is #01081343. We hope you come and enjoy our home, we look forward to it.
