A fabulous vacation home!
What a wonderful time we had at Peter and Joan's Orleans home! The house is large, comfortable and has everything a family would need to settle in quickly. The house is centrally located in Orleans and is within walking distance to Nauset Farms (small market), Sundae School (ice cream parlor), Xia's (Italian restaurant/pizza), and the Barley Neck Inn Restaurant. A short drive brings you to Main Street where you can stroll the quaint shops, and see the Orleans Firebirds--the best baseball team on the Cape! Nauset, Ridgevale, and Coast Guard beach which have beautiful soft sand is a short drive away. Well worth visiting all three beaches but especially Ridgevale which has an inlet with a shallow, sandy depth which is especially good for families with small children.
You will not be disappointed at this wonderfully equipped home. Communication and the rental process with Peter and Joan was effortless. We highly recommend this home and hope to return in the future.
The Bongiorno Family
We had a wonderful stay at this clean house in a perfect location!
Even more beautiful than we expected
The review that said this house has that "Wow!" factor is absolutely correct. Extremely spacious, with a gorgeous outlook to Meeting House Pond on one side and a lovely (though cold, probably because we came the first week of June) swimming pool on the other. Peter and Joan were very gracious and I felt confident they would have helped with anything we needed. Everything you need is here, except linens - ironing board, coffee maker, W/D. It was perfectly situated for the rehearsal dinner we hosted at Barley Neck Inn and the wedding at the Captain Linnell house. Just a lovely, serene place to be and one I'd return to without hesitation. Thanks, Peter and Joan!
Beautiful, quiet space with excellent water views. Their home is spacious, clean and very accommodati
Peter and Joan keep a wonderful home that helped my family create some wonderful memories.
Lots of Space And beautiful view
This was our first vacation as a family. Me, My husband and my 7 month old twins loved all the space the house had to offer. Having the TV in the sun room was actually great bc we could chat and watch TV after we put our boys down to sleep without having to worry about being too loud. The pool is lovely and private. The days were cooler being mid September but we did get the opportunity to use it one day. The water view with deck off the master bedroom was lovely to wake up to. Being walking distance to Nauset Farms was great for morning stroll and coffee. The people there knew us by name by the end of our stay. Our only wish was that there was more sidewalk to take longer walks. We love walking with the stroller in he mornings at home. But with no sidewalks on a main road we were worried about having the kids on the side of the road. Nauset beach was very close which was great (again if there were sidewalks we would have actually walked there). Overall I'd recommend this house especially for a family who needs space for everyone to spread out. We immediately felt at home and were so very glad we canceled our hotel room we originally had booked! Finally the owners were very responsive and easy to work with :)
a house with a "wow!" factor
This house has that “wow!” factor – from the very moment you approach the driveway and the vista of Meeting House Pond and the marina opens up on your left. The “wow!” factor continues as you walk through this amazingly well-equipped and unbelievably well-stocked house, with its wonderful views from, in particular, the lounge and the main bedroom windows.
The pool area at the rear is great, with sun loungers and a table and chairs for al fresco dining: it just lacked sunshine while we were there! (We were suffering from the tail-end of Hurricane Hermine).
The deck area at the front and the very extensive garden leading down to the Pond are great places to sit out in the evenings when the sun – what little we had of it! – goes behind the trees at the back.
From the house you can easily walk to Nauset Beach – a wonderful beach that goes on forever and is a must to be visited.
A short drive takes you to the Centre of Orleans with its many local shops. To the north of the town are a useful supermarket (Stop & Shop), a Liquor Store (you can’t by alcoholic drinks in the supermarket!), as well as a number of restaurants / take-outs: we would highly recommend ‘the Knack’.
The house is also wonderfully situated for activities further afield. We went on a whale watching trip with Dolphin Fleet Whale Watching out of Provincetown (27 miles) – and saw about 40 whales! We took the Hy-Line Ferry from Hyannis (25 miles) to Nantucket and, while there, visited Nantucket Vineyard / Cisco Brewers / Triple Eight Distillery – there’s a free shuttle from Nantucket Town – for what turned out to be an amazing (and educational!) experience.
We would also recommend a trip to Chatham (9 miles) – to us a very typical Cape Cod town.
With so much to do from this ideally situated house, our week there went all too quickly …
