The Space:
Professor Rousseau had you in mind when designing your space. He required an electronic lock which makes access available anytime you choose after 4:00 pm. He insisted on comfortable furnishings that include a desk, a fully equipped kitchen, a coffee bar station, top-notch linens, and on-site laundry facilities to name a few. While Professor Rousseau was away on his most recent adventure, we converted his carport to a fabulous outdoor retreat complete with ample seating for all guests, a quaint fire pit, and one of the best grills around. The Stok grill has several accessories available for check out to include a mesh grilling basket, chicken roaster, basting lid, griddle, cast iron smoker/infuser, and all necessary grilling tools. These accessories are perfect for first-time grillers or those with years of experience. We have provided you with many seating options to include Adirondack chairs surrounding the second wood-burning fire pit, dockside seating, a brightly colored hammock, plus your very own picnic table and private seating area right outside your back door. Nighttime comes alive with tiki torches and wonderfully lit spaces throughout the property. Bring your boat, canoe, kayak, fishing equipment, binoculars, and camera! The sights and sounds are unlike anything you have experienced by both day and night. All the wildlife here loves Professor Rousseau and you, his special guest!

THE DIFFERENCE
Professor Rousseau has a deep and personal commitment to you as his guest to provide the highest standard of cleanliness. He intends to not only meet but exceed the Airbnb 5-Step enhanced cleaning process. We will spend several hours between each stay to thoroughly clean and sanitize all surfaces plus wash every item that could have been touched or used by the guest before you.

Guest Access:
We have plenty of off-street parking for your vehicle, boats, or trailers.

We have a special parking area for boats and trailers. Please let us know if you will be bringing one so we may direct you to the parking area.

The Neighborhood:
Crystal River is best known as one of the few places in the world that vacationers may swim alongside the manatees in person during their winter refuge at Hunter Springs Park and Kings Bay. Hunter Springs Park features a sandy beach for swimmers, a kayak launch, a picnic area, plus a boardwalk for viewing manatees. Kings Bay also has a kayak launch, fishing pier, and three waterfront restaurants serving seafood, often fresh off the boat from the two waterfront fishing operations. Within a few blocks of these two iconic manatee hangouts are several incredible restaurants, cafes, and unique shopping venues on North Citrus Avenue. One of Professor Rousseau’s favorite places to shop and dine is Amy’s.

Another City close by is Dunnellon. For those of you that have decided to launch your boat and travel to the Withlacoochee and Rainbow Rivers, two notable restaurants are the Blue Gator Tiki Bar and Swampy’s. Leave early to grab your boat parking spot during busy seasons! Professor Rousseau’s favorite hometown place to eat is Citrus Grill on Pennsylvania Avenue. The menu has many tasty options, and you will love the owners. Tell Debbie hello for us!

Check out the menus for these restaurants and more in your Tiki Hideaway Home Book.

Getting Around:
If your idea of getting around includes a boat, kayak, or canoe, or if you enjoy fishing, you’ll love Professor Rousseau’s. Fish from our dock and utilize our fish cleaning station next to the shore. Launch your aquatic device from our private boat ramp or dock, and you’re on Lake Rousseau, a human-made 3,657-acre lake that offers incredible fishing opportunities. You'll find walleye, pike, smallmouth, and occasionally largemouth bass, year-round.

Safety first! The lake is full of submerged stumps that provide cover for fish. Keep in mind high-speed boating may be dangerous.

In your Tiki Hideaway book, you will find a map of the boat pathway to the Withlacoochee and Rainbow Rivers which feeds our beautiful lake with water. The Rainbow River begins with a headspring basin that produces between 400-600 million gallons of freshwater per day. This river provides us with a glimpse of rare habitats full of a wide variety of fish, wildlife, plants, and looking-glass clear waters. If you would like access to the Gulf of Mexico several public boat ramps are available including one that is only a few miles away from your front door.

Interaction with Guests:
Professor Rousseau believes that you are the most important person on earth during your stay as our guest. He understands that you may have questions, perhaps you have forgotten personal care items, or need something else, including recommendations for tours, dining, things to do, and places to see. Our team is committed to being available 24/7 for your convenience via the Airbnb app, text, or phone. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything. It is Professor Rousseau’s goal that you are 100% satisfied with your stay and he looks forward to reading your 5-star review. Let us know what you need to make this happen!
