Enjoy life “Hawaiian-style.” Our home is designed for a comfortable, casual way of life, whether you just want to “kick-back” and relax at world-famous Kailua Beach (consistently voted one of the world’s top beaches) or participate in the many activities available. One house back from the beach, our vacation home, Kaapuni Kainani, offers the amenities of beach living without beachfront prices. We're also a short drive over the Pali to Honolulu and the famous beach and nightlife of Waikiki.

Just about everything you need for an outstanding, memorable Hawaiian vacation should be here, down to the beach towels and boogie boards. About The Owner

Our family has been based in Hawaii since 1935. Grandpa, a captain at Hawaiian Airlines, and Tutu (grandmother)built this house for their growing family in 1951. There were other family homes built after this one, but the 'beach house' has always remained in the family. Now our geographically extended family members are visitors to the islands as often as we can be, and we always look forward to 'coming home' to Hawaii: the incomparable ocean, Spirit of Aloha, Kailua Beach, and the beach house.

Why The Owner chose Kailua

Family home for two generations, now retained as a vacation destination for us and a rental when we are not using it. Arguably Hawaii's best family beach with miles of white sand for sunning, playing, walking, jogging; protected by a reef but still great bodysurfing, boogie boarding, kayaking, windsurfing, kite surfing. Kids love it, as should anyone. The house is Kamaaina comfortable and casual, but was completely refurbished and redecorated in 2009 to make it up-to-date, attractive, comfortable, and well-equipped with all of the amenities possible. It is a great place to relax away from the crowds on the other side of the island, but close enough for day trips in or Waikiki nightlife.

What makes this house unique

Miles of beautiful white sand beach. We especially enjoy morning walks on the beach, along with the local residents who walk early, swim, or paddle, then go to work. Walk up to Kalapawai Market for morning coffee and the newspaper (or shave ice at Island Snow later in the day). Evening walks on the beach are also wonderful, of course. The pali (mountains) rise behind the white sand, purple in shadow; myriad shades of green, coconut tree silhouettes. The ocean is so blue. We love the sounds of the surf and wind in the coconut trees at night and so many bird noises in the morning. Breakfast or dinner on the lanai overlooking the backyard is a favorite; Tutu was an avid gardener (Outdoor Circle member, a Hawaiian garden club, since the 1930's) and the yard abounds with beautiful tropical plants. Kailua Beach is renowned and very family friendly. Nearby rentals for bicycles, canoes, windsurfers (also lessons).



Windsurfing, kite surfing, paddling/canoeing/kayaking, boogie boarding, jogging, walking, sand play, sunbathing all available steps away at beautiful Kailua beach.
