Overview

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

A dream beach house nestled between the Great South Bay to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the south in Ocean Ridge/Davis Park. There are four bedrooms and two full baths with an open living and dining area that has wood floors, vaulted ceilings and a gas stove for those chilly nights. Outside there is a large deck with a dining area, chaise lounges and an outdoor sectional. Plus, a huge outdoor shower.

The house comes complete with everything you might need: fully equipped modern kitchen with dishwasher and microwave. There is also a washer/dryer. A flat screen TV with DirecTV and a DVD player with a supply of movies for when you want to hang out inside. And ceiling fans will keep you cool in all of the rooms. Outside you’ll find a new gas grill, hammock, and comfy chairs and sand toys to take to the beach.

Fire Island is a unique barrier beach flanked by the Atlantic Ocean where the sun rises and the Great South Bay where the sun sets. There are no roads, just boardwalks throughout the community. And Davis Park/Ocean Ridge is a small quiet community surrounded on both sides by national seashore park. There is a small grocery and liquor store with premium pricing. We provide a wagon for carting your things from the ferry to the house. Which is part of the charm of the beach. There is also a snack bar by the bay and a restaurant and bar on the ocean with a wrap around deck. The Catholic Church has mass on Saturday at 5:00 and Sunday at 9:00. And on Wednesday nights they host a movie night for the kids.

By using a water taxi you can visit other Fire Island communities, each with it's own flare. Or check out the nature preserve at the National Park in Watch Hill, which is just a few miles down the beach. Where you can go on a free Kayak/Canoe excursion.

In season rates are $3,300/week, Friday to Friday. If you can take advantage of the off season, when the beach is truly beautiful, the rates are only $2,300/week.

About Cheryl

We are a family of four, mom, dad, and two daughters. We live close by on Long Island and come here to escape as often as we can. We enjoy boating and soccer. And we like to travel.

Cheryl purchased this house in 2002

Why Cheryl chose Davis Park

We had rented in this community for about 15 years before we were able to buy a house. We've always loved every minute of being there. You are only 20 minutes from the mainland, but you feel like you're hours away.

What makes this house unique

It's very relaxing and rejuvenating to be away from home and the rest of the world. And that's what it feels like to be here. It's a very therapeutic place. And it's also quite beautiful in the off-season.

Would not stay here again

  • 1 of 5

There is no AC and the house is too hot to be inside during summer afternoons, and the week were were there, it was only 80 degrees outside. The wifi never worked and the owner could not resolve. Only Verizon phones get reception, other providers, you are out of luck. The modern kitchen has nothing modern about it except for a new stove. There is an old DW, broken fridge and dirty cabinets. The 4 "twin beds" are smaller than twin and provided poor sleep for the adults in our group. Davis Park is full of mosquitos and you cannot sit outside or walk the boardwalk without being swarmed by mosquitos. The beach is beautiful and there are no mosquitos there. So it's the beach or house and the house is hot and just not comfortable. The clincher... the power went out for over 24 hours and we could not stay. The was alway very slow to respond to emails or texts and just rude in general. I would return to fire island but never to this house. Do not waste your time or money here.

Great location and comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

This home and location is fantastic. Centrally located between the Atlantic ocean and the bay side, we would body surf in the morning then go boating in the bay side in the afternoon. The house is well laid out, the deck in the back is fantastic for entertaining. We'll definitely go back!

Great for a group!

  • 5 of 5

There were 8 of us staying for a friend's wedding weekend and this house was perfect. All of the guests rented cottages and ours was the nicest. The house has recently been remodeled. There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms, a great living room with a fabulous kitchen. The house was airy and open and great for our group. The huge back deck was our favorite feature and we made great use of the outdoor shower (of course!) which was large and clean. I hope to rent this place again. The nights were cool during my stay but even when it gets hot every room has a ceiling fan and extra fans in closets, and the windows provided a nice breeze. There were plenty of clean towels too. We had a great time and enjoyed this beautiful home.
