The pictures on the listing depicts exactly what the house looks like in person. Communications with the property manager were always prompt, kind, and helpful. She was also attentive to our needs. The house had everything we wanted & it was clean.

Thank you so much, Katie. We hope to you host again! :)
This home had many sleeping areas perfect for 7 adults and 6 children ages 2-10. The outdoor playground was very fun for them and the lake trampoline and slide, blue water pad and kayaks were a huge hit with the youngsters and their parents. We cooked and ate 2 suppers, 2 lunches and 3 breakfasts at the home and were very impressed with all the needed appliances, pots and pans and utensils in the kitchen. The home was clean and lovely and views are beautiful! Walking trails nearby were fantastic and the weather was perfect for late September!

Hi Jonathan! Thank you so much for your great review. We're glad that you are pleased and you enjoyed your stay at On the Rocks! We hope to host you again soon!
The house was perfect for our large family! They even had toys in the kids rooms. Games, coffee, trash bags, laundry detergent, and so much more, which was very helpful to not have to pack and take. The large dumpster provided was great as we filled it up! Our family had a great time and plenty of room for us all. Unfortunately, we did have one major issue with no hot water for the first 24 hours. With that said the manager was very responsive to get it worked on as soon as possible. We never got hot water to the upstairs shower, but other than that we had it for the rest of the time we were there. (We only stayed two nights.) A few other things definitely need addressed, like the garbage disposal, door broken, and the outside could use some love as well. I definitely would stay there again, but would hope these things were attended to first for the price we paid.

We enjoyed every second of our stay. The house is beautiful and clean. There’s ample space to spread out and enjoy yourself, including many levels of decking. You’ll definitely get a workout in going up and down the stairs to and from the lake!!

On the Rocks is a great place for a large family
On the Rocks is a well kept home, well equipped and nicely laid out. We had 7 kids from 6 to 13 that enjoyed the games, the swimming, the boating and the fishing. 6 of them fished and caught close to a hundred small fish off the dock. The weather was hot, so whenever a break was needed, the water and warm and clear for swimming and water games. The entire family had a great time and would recommend this home for a family gathering. Minor thing to consider: Its over 80 steps to get down to the dock. There are plenty of bugs outside but as we are farm families, nothing concerning. Thank you for a great stay.
Great house and accommodations! Some updates are needed. But I guess they are waiting for someone to purchase the house as there was a for sale sign there. The house had everything we needed for my large family. Be prepared to bring bug spray and watch out for the spiders.

Thank you for the review, Gemo. The lake house is no longer for sale so we have moved forward with many updates. And yes- we tell all of our guests in the online welcome guide to bring bug spray and SPF! Lake of Egypt is a very rural area and the house is surrounded by mature trees. It is a beautiful home tucked in nature- so outdoor insects are part of the outdoor amenities. :)

We had a wonderful family time, making new memories together!
The house was large & had several separate areas where we could be together or break into small groups or even be alone. There is a living room area (with comfortable furniture) & a nice family room area (with comfortable furniture).
We enjoyed renting a boat from one of the local marinas, swimming from the dock, using the water trampoline & catching a few fish.
Our large family enjoyed the beautiful, large island in the kitchen, the long dining room table, as well as the nice long table on the deck. There were comfortable chairs to sit around those tables. We ate there, played games & did puzzles on the large surfaces.
The youngest members in our family enjoyed the sandbox & swingset. When we couldn’t get the bathtub stopper to work, they replaced that bathtub stopper by the next day. We appreciated their quick service.
We made many new family memories!
We had a great time up until we checked out. There were some minor issues with showers (water pressure & not enough hot water in one of the showers, but there are 3 showers available. Pretty much everything was great, especially the lake access with the water trampoline & kayaks. Not recommended for anyone who cannot climb a zillion stairs to access the lake though. Upon check out, I let the property owner/manager know the lock on one of the doors was possibly broken. I received a text back asking about why we moved the ceiling tile the in laundry room (no one even noticed that it wasn't originally in place or not). Stated that we basically ripped the screen door out; it was ripped when we got there (I almost took a pic & sent to her, but of course, didn't). We kept the screen door in a locked open position so it would not become more damaged. Upon check out, I noticed the lock on the one door was loose/broken and was told according to the maintenance man it was "fine at the last check out. He explained that 'they pulled the out the lock knob & unseated the tab that holds it in place....It sounds like it was intentionally tampered with because it was inconvenient." We never touched the lock after we unlocked the house upon arrival. I was told they will hold our deposit until repairs are completed. I have never had such an experience in any other homes we have rented in the past. Luckily, I purchased insurance, but now I will need to file a claim.

We are so sorry you were disappointed with the outcome of your stay, Doreen. As described in the listing and shown in the pictures, there are a lot of steps. We hope that future guests find that part of your review helpful. As for the maintenance needs after your stay- we did not hold on to your security deposit or charge for the hours spent fixing things after your departure. Our goal is to always have guests have the best experience in all of our properties and for the properties to be in excellent condition upon your arrival. So we were very surprised by the amount of work needed addressed after your stay. All in all, it is a $1.5 million property and we hope that future guests understand that we strive for excellence and that if anything is damaged or out of sorts upon arrival it is documented and reported immediately to allow us the opportunity to have a swift response. If you are a potential future guest and have read this far, please note that we do care for each one of our guest's experience and take our job as hosts very seriously to provide you the best memories. ❤
