Beachfront Cottage on Lake Huron in Straits of Mackinac

Relax and get away from it all on Bois Blanc Island. Located in the Straits of Mackinac, ideal for those who desire a quiet serene escape to enjoy nature and watch the ships pass by. Surrounded by two acres of woods with a large rocky beachfront on Lake Huron, the only sounds you'll hear are those of the leaves rustling in the trees and the waves lapping on the shore. Swimming is available at your doorstep. Hiking and superb fishing at three inland lakes or on Lake Huron is an adventure. Bois Blanc Island is located minutes from Cheboygan where you'll catch the car ferry. Day trips to Mackinaw Island, Petoskey, Charlevoix or the Upper Peninsula are great options if you need a dose of civilization during your stay. Cleaning fee is included in administrative fee.



Amenities: One bathroom with full size tub/shower, two bedrooms (sleeps 6 Limited to 4 adults, and a total of 6 people), fully equipped kitchen, refrigerator, stove, microwave, charcoal grill, antenna TV, VCR, linens, towels, washer, dryer. No smoking, no pets.

Fees will be assessed for not removing trash ($20 minimum) and $25/ quarter hour for not clearing out by check out time (10:00 a.m. is check out - this is FIRM!!!) Fees will be assessed for non-compliance!

Perfect boblo beach cabin

Relaxing! Weather wasn’t great but didn’t even matter. We still managed to swim and bike and each read an entire book. It’s so beautiful and peaceful exactly what we needed.

Perfect July 4th Getaway

We met up with our best friends from downstate for a quiet lake front getaway. It was a relatively central meeting point for us and was super relaxing and fun. The house is well stocked with everything you could need. We really enjoyed our time, we swam in the lake, had a fire, hiked to the lighthouse, watched a beautiful sunset overlooking the bridge, played cards, cooked and just spent really good family/friend time. Karen was helpful with directions and the check in/check out process couldn’t have been easier. We can’t wait to go back. It was a perfect weekend. Thank you for opening your cottage to us.

Perfect place for rest and relaxation, the house is immaculate, the view from the house is amazing, and having your own beach to hang out on is priceless. Do yourself a favor and book this place!!

Quiet getaway

Quiet and peaceful retreat. The cottage is well-appointed with almost everything you could need. No WiFi and limited cell phone service on the island. No grocery store on the island, and two restaurants with limited hours. The kitchen is well equipped. The beach is very rocky so bring your water shoes. We enjoyed the Farmers Market and fresh donuts and a beautiful view of the northern lights. A wonderful place to unplug and unwind!

Island stay

What a wonderful cabin right on Lake Huron. Really enjoyed our stay, recommend this cabin to anyone wishing to stay on BBI. Property manager and owner were very helpful answering any questions. This cabin has a well equipped kitchen with everything you would need. Thank you for sharing you lovely cabin with us.

Memorial weekend

ATV trips around the island, fishing, and bonfires on the beach, relaxing family get a way. Very secluded and quiet, neighbors weren't up. Great time.

Best Place to be Sick!

Our family stayed here over labor day and my husband's birthday. First day there we all ended up coming down with a sickness so we spent the next few days just in this house listening to Lake Huron. We had everything we could need to stay put and still have a relaxing time. Fortunately before we left we were feeling much better and we could do a little exploring. We kept it to the natural environments so nobody else got sick. The property manager was very responsive and helpful to our needs and questions. We would stay here again.

Michigan paradise

We love the cottage right by the lake and the deer that came through twice a day. It was all so quiet and peaceful. The cabin had everything we needed.

Island time

We have been coming to the island for many years. Our stay is usually much different(tents). This year we decided to spruce it up. The cabin is far from a cabin it is a very inviting and homey space. The layout is extremely relaxing and all the amenities you will ever need. Lake Huron is right outside your backyard. The driveway is winding and is a gorgeous walk on its own, perfect for our toddler. We did a lot of fishing, exploring, night gazing and beach lounging. Overall this is a must stay and will be returning!

Tranquil perfection

This was my 4th year renting a house on the island, but the first time at this property. It was everything that was advertised and more. I had been staying on the south shore near the store and traffic was nonstop. This house was on the east end and so much quieter. The property is amazing. The wildlife is abundant with a beautiful beach you don't have to cross the road to get to. The house is packed with everything you could possibly want or need. Thank you so much for allowing me and my family to thoroughly enjoy the time we spent together. We will be back next year, that's a promise!

Our souls have been replenished!

This was the perfect vacation for our family to disconnect from the world. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The island kept us busy the whole week with lots of exploring, wild life viewing, fishing, and history. We had deer in the front yard numerous times. Beautiful Lake Huron was mesmerizing, from sunrise to sunset. We were blessed with clear nights and watched the Perseid Meteor showers and the full moon reflecting off the sparkling water. We didn't want to leave and are already planning our return.

Very clean and well-equipped home in exceptional island location

What a delightful stay my father and I had at this wonderful home on Bois Blanc! The clear and detailed directions made it very easy to find and we were settled in in no time. We were grateful for the host’s wide array of local information and activity suggestions, our favorite of which was simply to take in the enchanting Lake Huron shore only steps away from the porch. The timely and detailed communication with the host was perfect and the home on arrival was spotlessly clean. We definitely hope to be back next summer!

Girls’ getaway

We really enjoyed our stay at Cook cottage. The house was fine except for the presence of a few spiders, which totally freaked out the kids! We loved just watching the water and seeing the deer daily. The only thing that might keep me from coming back are the flies. They never stop biting! Our insect repellent did not seem to deter them!

Spectacular view

So peaceful and serene. The views of LH were beautiful, spent many hours on the rocky shoreline looking out at the lake and many nighttime hours watching the shooting stars. Wildlife came right up near the house including deer, cormorants and mergansers. The property was so quiet, hard to believe there was anyone else on the island but us. The house was comfortable and homey, had all the provisions one needed to honker down for the week, pots and pans, wine glasses, even grilled some brats on the charcoal grill. Would stay again for sure. Watch the time to be outdoors as the biting flies are ferocious, especially in the morning and at dinner time. The car ferry to and from the island was easy to use, the guys were were very nice. Definitely was glad to have taken the time to drive around the island and check out the sites, worth the two-tracking roads to get to some of the spots. Miss BBI already, can't wait to go back.

Great Weekend Getaway

We had a great time on Bois Blanc. The house was very nice and the view of Lake Huron was awesome. As said in other reviews you have to bring everything with you and we knew this before coming and were prepared. The beach is all rocks so you need water shoes which we brought. Probably the only negative was the biting flies on the beach. There were fly swatters in the cottage that we used but it really did put a damper on the enjoyment. There are also spiders crawling all over the rocks but they don’t bother you. You will likely have this on the beach anywhere on the island. The cottage itself was great and was well stocked with things you need. The check in-out was easy and the owner provided good instructions and information for getting around. Would come again.

Great Escape

Our second time here, and we absolutely loved it. Honestly, I could just spend all my time just gazing at the water. Super relaxing, lots of wildlife, we swam, read, explored, got up to see the spectacular sunrise, had campfires in the evening, watched the moon rise over the water. The cabin is very clean, and had everything we needed. We will be back.

Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade

Karen grew up spending summers on Bois Blanc, so when we had children, we wanted them to get to know the Island. The boys, like their parents have come to love and appreciate Bois Blanc with all its unique discoveries. We look forward all winter to spending our summers on the Island.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

The privacy of Cook Cottage is what first attracted us to this property. The cottage is set away from the road, when we don't want to see or hear civilization, this is the perfect spot. The east end of the Island has beautiful sunrises and is close to Mary's Lake and trails for discovery. The beautiful view from the cottage down to Lake Huron provides an excellent view of wildlife including eagle, deer and the like. The cottage is bright and cheerfully decorated with a lighthouse decor.

Nights spent viewing the Milky Way from our beach front is uniquely spectacular, as we don't have the light pollution from the mainland. Awesome!!
