This beach “Getaway” was wonderful. Clean, well kept home, LOTS of space for large gatherings (families). We had a wonderful time, at the private beach, we did not need it, but there is also a boat launch. Really great beach getaway!
The views were amazing. The kitchen was well stocked. The only thing I will say is that we tried to get in the garage to grab the grill and we had to call the owner to find out how to get in. The welcome packet did not include how to get in the garage.
We want to sincerely thank you for sharing your beautiful place with us. Everyone felt comfortable and truly at home. We really appreciated all the amenities and thoughtful touches you provided, which made our stay even more homy.We truly hope and pray that we'll have the opportunity to stay at your wonderful place again in the future. It was a memorable experience, and we would be happy to recommend it to others.
This was a beautiful scenic property. Kids all loved the York River! Made for nice family photos. The host okayed my friend being there to visit my family and I, as she is from the area, one of the main reasons for my stay. Brian the gentelman who lived in the apartment next door was kind and helpful and gave us information about the York River. Lucy his dog was also very friendly.
If you're looking for a big, quirky house, with a beautiful yard and a small sandy beach, this place is for you. The listing was 100% spot on! Arrival WAS a bit tricky (gps had us take a turn too early), host let us know about it with welcome instructions. My kids are on the older side, but they still thought the setup of the house was fun. Plenty of room for all. Only downside, AS STATED, was that you had to go through one of 2 bedrooms upstairs to get to the 3 bedroom and bonus area with futon. Again, not a surprise, so no big deal for us. Large kitchen, plenty of room for meals and game nights. The backyard was perfect for volleyball and badminton. While there was a lot of seaweed washed up on the beach, there was a nice little area the water didn't hit that was great for tanning, or reading. The neighbor that lives in the house beside was super nice and very helpful, with tips about the area. Funny enough, I think one of the best things about the stay was that the towels provided were a dark blue- not hotel white lol!! While this might not be a house that fits everyones style, it was just right for me and my crazy family!
The home was quiet and nice. Unfortunately, the kitchen Oven did not work or even turn on. It would have been nice if there were dishwasher tabs to run the dishwasher.
Great location for a weekend spent at Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens! Awesome that we got to use the canoe! Also, really nice kitchen!

Hi Jason,
Thank you for choosing The Getaway for your recent trip to the Historic Triangle! We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and were able to use the canoe! Hope to see you again.
Very nice home. Only issues were the ants in the kitchen. Had plenty of room for our family.

Hi Lori,
Thank you so much for your kind words and for staying with us! We're so glad to hear the home had plenty of space for your family and that you enjoyed your time overall.
We truly appreciate you letting us know about the ants in the kitchen, it's helpful feedback. While we do have regular pest control in place, sometimes a few determined visitors still manage to sneak in, especially during warmer months. We've already alerted our team so they can take care of it promptly.

Than you. Glad you enjoyed it. It s officially the end of the season and we will have a deep cleaning done in the weeks to come and then again at the start of the season. We have also ordered some new furniture.
Thanks
Greg
Excellent place to enjoy 4 generations of my family. Plenty of space to play with my grandkids outside and games to enjoy on the inside. Very quiet neighborhood and plenty of privacy.
My group had so much fun with the private beach! The canoe was such a great amenity along with the ping pong table. Would definitely say to make sure you bring your own toilet paper and paper towels etc, but other than that had a fabulous stay in an absolutely beautiful area. Would recommend this vacation to anyone.
Very well kept home, very clean. We went prepared with cleaning products, trash bags, tissue paper etc. they had everything there. When placing grocery orders for delivery the drivers went to the next street over so have your phone to help them get back to you have them take 2 rights and they will be at the house. we loved the peace and quiet that the property gave. The space was perfect for all of us. Had everything you need to cook. We took a crockpot and made meals in them as we were right at the beach. The kids loved the beach all day and at night they watched the moon. Neighbors were very friendly and accepting of the people coming in. Very quiet and relaxing!!! We are waiting to book again for next year! About 25 mins to Busch Gardens and about an 1hr and 20 to Virginia Beach. By boat about 1 hr. We totally loved the community beach its very private, we were down there by ourselves. Which is very enjoyable when traveling with kids. My 4 yr and 7 m old grandkids enjoyed it. Did not have to worry about where they are in a crowd of people at a very busy beach. Can't wait til next year!!! We are already counting down our days!!! Thank you very much to Greg he is wonderful to work with!!!

About the host
Hosted by Greg Granger
I was born and raised in Williamsburg, Virginia. Married my beautiful wife Lisa and we have three great kids who enjoy canoeing & kayaking on the river.
Why they chose this property
I chose to buy this vacation home because of its proximity to Williamsburg. It is close enough for a quick drive and just far enough to feel like you are really getting away. Growing up in Williamsburg we often traveled to Virginia Beach or the Outer Banks of North Carolina for vacation. Now a lovely drive on the Colonial Parkway over the Coleman Bridge and we are there without the headache of a long traffic filled road trip.
What makes this property unique
The Getaway has it all - water sports, a relaxing private sandy beach, and is convenient to Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, Yorktown, and more. With accommodations for 10, there is room to spread out.
