Last minute holiday reservation

Last minute 4th of July reservation was needed in Winter Wi. The cabin was nothing fancy but everything worked and it was nice and clean inside. Owner was nice too!

It's worth noting that the cabins, bar, and outbuildings are closely situated on the property. If you're seeking seclusion or a sense of being surrounded by wilderness, this might not be the ideal choice. However, the property is indeed surrounded by wilderness and offers a peaceful retreat far from city life.

Unsatisfied

The price per night was reasonable for a two-bedroom cabin, however, I was very displeased with the overall experience, cleanliness of the property, as well as professionalism and communication of lodge staff. Check in process was nonexistent and it took far too long to get in contact with lodge staff the day of our stay. Upon arrival, the cabin was unlocked and there was a pungent odor throughout the cabin, which took a few hours of open doors/windows and fans blowing to make the smell bearable. On top of this, there was no key to the cabin. The lodge owner told us we should be fine and that the cabins were safe without a key... He also instructed us to ask the bartender for a key the next day as they were closed the day of our arrival. We were on a fishing trip and locked the door as we left for the lake the next morning, so our personal belongings were safe inside. Without a key, we were locked out when we returned that evening and asked the bartender for a key as instructed. After asking for the key, they could not find it. We waited outside for roughly half an hour before they found a key that worked. This experience was far below the standard of other places I have stayed in the area. I will not be staying here again, and I would suggest others look elsewhere as well.

Dalton, I am sorry to hear that you stay was subpar. Here at Bucktail Lodge all of our reviews are important to us. when the cabins are empty for over a week, the traps evaporate out. So the odor we are describing happens with every place that has a septic or holding tank if they have been empty for more than a week. I normally go inside every cabin one day prior to run all the water and ensure the traps are full. I truly apologize for such a bad experience. As you can tell by all other reviews, we have had no such issues. please feel free to reach out directly to us for a discount if you ever would like to give us another chance.

Great little cabin, clean and comfortable. The beds were amazing, stayed multiple different places over the years and the beds are always junk, not at bucktail!!!

We booked 2 days before so we had a great deal three nights for under 450 and being right on the lake. It was just two adults and a teenager so the space was perfect. The pictures were not accurate of the cabin we were in but we were pleasantly surprised when we walked in and it looked better. The bathroom, floors, corners, fridge and cabinets were clean. Wi-Fi was great, we did not use the air conditioning as the weather was great. The beds were very conformable and the sheets were soft and clean. Shower was difficult.Here is my nit picky part, there was not a dish brush or fly swatter :). We were given a half a roll of paper towels and one and a half small rolls of TP. We ran out of TP and paper towels the morning of our last day and didn't have any others available. We could of used something other than what we had limited supply of in the cabin for the outdoor furniture covered in bugs and bird poop.For the price, the amenities were fine, your basics are there. If you plan on grilling bring all the things like foil, charcoal and maybe something to clean grill with.The property is a little messy, looks like a pickers paradise in spots with random things hanging around and partial mowing. The fish house advertised is really not accessible or usable so do not count on that, bring what you need. Overall it was a great place.
