About Lara Pullen
I am a work-at-home mom with three children. We love to travel and frequently rent from vrbo. We love moving into a comfortable home in the heart of a community and exploring local life. We hope to offer the same joy to you by renting out the Yellow Cottage for your vacation. We live next door to the Yellow Cottage and I hope to be able to make your visit to Oak Park an enjoyable one.

Why Lara Pullen chose Oak Park
We love Oak Park. We moved here for its diversity and its vibrant, child-friendly culture. We live next door to the lovely Yellow Cottage. I was raised in the Midwest in a simple yellow home that looks much like this Yellow Cottage.
What makes this Cottage unique
This home will allow you to explore Chicago and Oak Park while living comfortably in a home away from home. As a mom, I understand that a good vacation is a comfortable bed and the ability to put good food in front of my children. If you stay at our cottage you will not be eating typical restaurant fare. We have a grocery store that is just walking distance away and a Whole Foods that is a 5 minute drive away. You can serve healthy food to your family or take them, like I do to the Buzz Cafe (as seen in New York Times) for a good cup of coffee and simple, wholesome cafe food.

Great home base for staying in Oak Park.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Yellow Cotage. As a native Oak Parker who has been gone for 17 years my family and I enjoyed the house and it’s location. While the house is older it has been updated very nicely.
Very basic accommodations and linens.
Decent accommodation in Oak Park where it is difficult to find convenient lodging.
down memory lane
the yellow cottage was the perfect location for a week of looking back at our younger days. my pal paul and i loved our stay. everything went well and a large part of the credit goes to our hangout in oak park. thanks for wonderful hosts and a beautiful place to hang.
This house has it all! Comfy beds, a perfect location and on those really hot, sticky days, it has enough air conditioning to cool off the upstairs, too :) It's near public transportation into the city and also close enough to the many wonders of Oak Park. Every time we visit Chicago, we cross our fingers that THIS house is available!
Good Family Setting
This neighborhood in Oak Park is really cute and family friendly. There are little shops, coffee and restaurants within walking distance. The drive to downtown Chicago is not bad at all.
The house is good for our small family of 4. The floors are pretty creaky, but that is to be expected in an older house :) Plan on staying there again when we come to town!
We're return guests. Suggest non-skid strips in the bathtub and more comfortable seating on the back porch - otherwise, it's a great place to stay in Oak Park!
Oak Park is home to the Frank Lloyd Wright home and studio. The Village also contains many of the homes that he designed. Because of this and other styles of architecture, the Village may be considered a living architectural museum. Visitors travel from all over the world to see the architecture in the Village. Oak Park is also the birth place and childhood home of Ernest Hemingway. The Village has a museum dedicated to his life and work. Hemingway's home is also in Oak Park and is open for tours. The Harrison Street Art District is located about 15 minutes by foot from the Yellow Cottage. The art district has street fairs and studios. It also has many activities for children: everything from drop-in fun to two week all-day camps. There is a lovely yoga studio (Yoga Trek) that is walking distance (15 minutes) from the Yellow Cottage. The studio has classes and it is also possible to book private sessions at the studio. Other local attractions include: coffee shops, beer gardens, many parks, conservatory, public pool, theater, shopping, library, ice skating rink, and a sledding hill.
