Awesome place to stay!
This place was great! We just got back from our stay. We were there for an early Thanksgiving celebration with family that lives in Laurel Springs. The cabin has everything you need. It had all of the essentials plus tons of dvds (my little one loved the Paw Patrol ones), toys for little ones, games, books, etc. We have a 14 month old so it was nice that everything was babyproofed. Our Golden Retriever enjoyed playing in the stream beside the house. The bed was super comfy & the cabin was very clean. There isn’t a ton of room when sitting on the toilet but was definitely doable for a weekend. We would definitely stay there again & would recommend it to friends & family!
Thank you for your response and we are so happy that you enjoyed your stay. I take my grandchildren, ages 1 to 8, up to the cabin when I can so things are childproofed and plenty of things for them to do and watch. Paw Patrol is certainly my grand-daughter's favorite so I am glad your little one enjoyed watching it as well and playing with the toys we have there. We are so glad that you had a great time with your family and hope to have you visit again.
Quiet and quaint getaway, tucked away in the woods, small but sufficient. Lots of DVDS & games too.
I shared this cabin with my 2 pre-teen children for 3 nights, and they absolutely loved it. We were surprised to find such a great selection of DVDs that everyone loved. This was especially great as we had one day of hard rain and flash flooding, so we hunkered down inside and had a game day/movie marathon. We had brought games to play as well as our own movies and were excited to find there were other ones there as well (we didn't even play our own!), so we had lots to do on a rainy day. Both beds were very comfortable- so often beds in rentals are hard like bricks. Not these. My kids shared the lower "bunk" of the futon bed and my son remarked how cozy the covers were. I had read about the tight quarters of the bathroom, especially the toilet, and was curious to what I would find. It was indeed impossible for me to sit straight on the toilet, but I didn't mind sitting sideways- it worked, and didn't hamper my stay at all! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the kitchen sink that didn't drain well. I did call the property manager who was very nice, and came out immediately when we had left to clear it with Drano. It drained a little better afterwards, but the water would still fill the entire sink (both sides) quickly when washing dishes- making that very challenging and more time-consuming than I would have liked on vacation. It either needs bigger pipes to drain, a garbage disposal, or a small dishwasher to make washing dishes less of a headache, as I often had to wait several hours for the water to drain before I could continue. That being said, my kids are already asking when we can go back to stay. The creek beside the cabin and the woods behind it make so peaceful, and if wasn't as chilly, I would have sipped my coffee and eaten breakfast outside listening the babbling water each day. We even heard an owl at night and were surprised to not see a deer walking by in the morning. I have to say the pictures really don't do it justice- it's decorated like a real log cabin and very cozy. If you have a small family, this is a perfect nature getaway in a great location and lots of amenities if you get rained in! Also- definitely don't use GPS to get there- I didn't read that recommendation from the owners until after the fact. You will otherwise wonder how far from civilization you are going. In truth, it's only 5-10 minutes from town at the most and you can get anything extra you need from the nearby stores.
We are so glad that you and your children enjoyed your stay. The quick trip into town makes it very convenient. The sink has been running slow and we are going to check that out further. I had heard that there had been a lot of rain so I'm glad that you all were able to watch the movies and play the games at the cabin. We hope you come back again and enjoy the deck and the creek.
Rustic, Peaceful & Private Home Away From Home
Very private, rustic and clean. I honestly did not see a speck of dust. The linens were clean and fresh and beds comfortable. The decor was precious!! Perfect for my Mom and I along with my little Yorkie (so nice to be able to have her with us). The creek was wonderful and we enjoyed building a fire and making s'mores at the fire pit creekside. There is also LOTS of deck space with a huge charcoal grill, perfect for a family.
The only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 was the tiny bathroom and there was a great deal of pine straw on the deck, which I took care of immediately upon arrival. However, this cabin truly was like walking into your own home. There were extra condiments in case you forgot something, a nice little basket in the bathroom with extra toiletries, a hair dryer and even a flat iron, and Keurig for coffee!!! Tons of movies and books as well as lots of toys for little ones. You don't find all that in other places!
The check in was a breeze and it was wonderful to have cable and WiFi!! We didn't even have to carry our trash away. We bagged it all up and left in a container on the back deck per instructions, which was a huge help to us.
We would gladly stay here again! Maybe next spring!!! Thank you for sharing your home with us. It truly was a retreat.
Thanks for you review. We are so glad that you were able to relax and enjoy yourselves. This use to be my full time home, so peaceful and quiet, so we left everything there to try to make it feel like home to visitors. The house was built in the 1960's, must have been for a very small family, and I purchased it in the 1990's. The bathroom was very small but didn't take long to adjust to it. The house and location were so neat, peaceful, and private that it quickly made up for a very small bathroom. My son was practically raised there as was able to play in the creek, hike, and play outside without any worries. We have done a lot of cosmetic updates to make it fit with the surroundings. Thanks again for staying at our cabin and hope that you visit again.
Great little cabin. Felt like home.
Great experience. Home owners were very helpful/communicative, even though they were out of town. The cabin itself was lovely, and sitting outside on the porch at night time was indescribably peaceful/wonderful. Would stay at again...
We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and were able to take advantage of sitting on the deck at night. It is so peaceful and all that you can hear are the crickets and the creek. Thanks for visiting.
Very well stocked, just bring your clothes and food. Bathroom small and took some getting used too.
Very secluded, perfect get away to recharge your batteries. Do not forget to pack your flashlight. Gets very dark at night. Thank you for the flood lights. Bobby, the property manager, even stopped by to check on us. If they will have us, we will be back again.
Glad you enjoyed your stay. It does get very dark with the only lights are from the lightening bugs, or the campfire if you choose to use the fire pit. We are glad you were able to recharge and relax and you are welcome back any time.
This is my second stay at the cabin and have enjoyed each. it is quiet, tranquil, and a great place to veg or get back in touch with nature, and myself. The cabin is well stocked with all the comforts and is charmingly decorated. The carpentry work inside is amazing. It's just a great place to get away from the noise, and listen to flowing water, birds, see butterflies and deer, and kick back on the large deck or couch.
Thank you for being a repeat guest at our cabin. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay. It is a quiet place to just go and relax. Please let us know when you are ready to return again. Thanks
