About Marga

We first visited Kiahuna Plantation in 1997. It is a magical place that has a way of drawing you back over and over. We realized a dream in 2010 of purchasing our condo at Kiahuna. We look forward to enjoying our condo for years to come and invite you to enjoy it as well. Aloha! Craig & Marga (Eastern Wasington State)

Marga purchased this condo in 2010

Why Marga chose Poipu

Kiahuna Plantation is truly a special place. The resort has wide open spaces, beautiful gardens and is beach front. The plantation style buildings add Hawaiian character.

What makes this condo unique

An incredible beachfront resort. The Poipu area is conveniently located for exploring the island of Kauai. Shopping and great restaurants are close by.

Quiet getaway

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed the condo. Its was in a quiet location. Very close to the BBQ. The bed was very comfortable. Kitchen is well stocked with everything you needed. It would be helpful in the future to have more towels provided, as well as Beach chairs. I've already recommended the condo to a close friend. If we come back to Kauai we would book this Condo again. No ka oi .... “the best”

  • 5 of 5

I loved my time at Kiahuna. I’ve stayed at several different units at Kiahuna Plantation, and this one was clearly the most enjoyable for me. I was looking for a place that was quiet, secluded, surrounded by beautiful vegetation, away from the road and the beach, yet an easy walk across the street to restaurants and shops. Yes, to all the above.

I’ve been to Hawaii more than 30 times, and I have “done“ most of the things I care to “do.“ This time, I was here for quiet contemplation. It so happened I had torrential rain for three days, but this was the perfect place to be when the inevitable happens. I sat outside most of these days, wrapped in the warmth and the fragrance of Hawaii, surrounded by beautiful plants, and lulled into my contemplative mood by the sound of the rain. I don’t know any other unit at Kiahuna that could offer such peace during a time like that. In addition, the inside was more than I could ever ask for or need, and Marga was great with questions and details ahead of time (and I was picky, because I knew what I wanted), as well as the entire registration process.

I would go back to Kauai on a moment’s notice. I’d always choose Poipu. And I could ask for nothing better than this unit at Kiahuna. I really appreciate the laid-back feeling here, which somehow has sustained itself over the past 30+ years, (in the midst of the growth of unnecessary glitz all around it, which is clearly just not Hawaii). But this is the real deal, and so is Marga. No ka oi.

I’m grateful.

Clean place to stay while enjoying Poipu

  • 4 of 5

The condo was clean and the location was perfect for kids. The only reason I bring it down a star is that the pull out couch had a busted spring and wasn't the most comfortable. It was fine for my 3 year old, but a bigger kid or adult would have issue with it. In general the condo facility was clean, but definitely not quiet or secluded. This unit was more secluded than others on the property, but overall there was general road and club party noise. Never a big issue for us, I could sleep no problem, but I would say quiet and secluded is not the right description. Definitely a family friendly place. Kids EVERYWHERE. If you don't have kids and don't want to hear kids crying before bed or screaming with joy in the yard at 6 am, I would recommend you try a different spot. BUT.... if you do have kids, this place is ideal. You can let your kids be kids without feeling like you're ruining someone else's quiet vacation.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. Our management company is on-site and available 24 hours a day. Their maintenance department is excellent and ready to respond if called. I have contacted them to have the broken spring replaced. Kiahuna Plantation is well suited to families with children as well as couples and singles. At times during the year, there are more families and that must have been the case during the time you traveled in the first part of December. You did note that our condo was more secluded than others within the resort. We have never experienced road noise during our visits. Live music on weekends or for special events at nearby bars and restaurants follows a 10 pm noise curfew. I’m happy to hear you slept well. I hope you can return soon and maybe even get away without the kids next time! Aloha!

Fantastic location !

  • 5 of 5

It was our first time to the island of Kauai & after just a few hours there my husband & I were already planning a return some day. We have been to Maui before which we also loved but found the island of Kauai so much more relaxing, true Hawaiian experiences and a much more laid back feel. There were so many small towns to explore.

The condo was perfect as it came with everything we needed. Even tried the boogie boards out, beach umbrella and cooler to keep the drinks chilled. With the ocean breezes coming thru at night we slept well.

There was a small village shop across the street which had lots to offer. We loved old Koala and found a great pizza place there which also does take out. The beaches on the plantation were fantastic for finding Hawaiian monk seals basking in the sun, quite an experience to see for the first time. The public beach is a short stroll away so it was nice to have options for swimming & snorkling in many different areas.

We put many miles on the rental car and found the island so easy to navigate with little traffic. We also rented bikes on the coconut coast which we would highly recommend as it is a easy pedal all along the coastline with never ending gorgeous views of the ocean. Many restaurants and food trucks along the way to keep you fuelled.

Still dreaming about my morning coffees sitting on the condos lanai while watching the geckos , listening to the tropical birds & admiring the money pod tree! Very peaceful!

My husband and I had been to Oahu and the Big Island 40 years ago. This time we chose Kauai and Maui, vowing it would be our final trip since we visit every 40 years. Then we stayed in Craig and Marga's and decided we would definitely return to Kauai and to this condo. This condo is gorgeous, comfortable, and laid out perfectly for a truly wonderful, relaxing vacation. We saved time and money cooking in the well-stocked kitchen. We had breakfast on the patio while viewing the lush landscape. Every day we strolled down to the beach for swimming and over to the public beach for excellent snorkeling. We explored the island, took 900 photos, and slept peacefully in a very comfortable bed. Thank you, Craig and Marga, for sharing your condo, boogie board, beach umbrella, and guide books; for answering my many questions; and for emailing clear directions and suggestions of what to see. I hope to be writing reviews of your place for many years to come.

Kiahuna Plantation- wish we were still there!

  • 5 of 5

Craig and Margaret, I just wanted to let you how much we enjoyed our stay in your condo. It is situated in such a lovely and peaceful spot at Kiahuna Plantation. The condo decor is very tasteful and just tropical enough without being the least bit kitschy. You have equipped the unit with everything guests might need or want, down to the "Swiffer" and broom and dustpan. The bed is very comfortable and there is plenty of storage space for clothing. And how is that the ubiquitous Kauai roosters do not seem to have discovered your location? All we heard were the doves in the daytime and at night the geckos chirping. Ahhhh!

You will also be glad to know that we found the staff at Kiahuna to be very pleasant and helpful. The weather was fantastic for our entire stay. The one day it rained quite a bit in Poipu, we were on a Napali coast raft excursion and had no rain up there, surprisingly, just smooth waters and sunshine. Fantastic.

We would love to return for another stay some day!
