★★ 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗧𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗘 ★★ Our focus is on 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 and 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 of the Arts and Craft period. In early September 2022, we completed our most recent interior design program during which we replaced everything: all upholstery, fabrics, queen bed, sheets, towels and lampshades.
Even though we’ll take you back in time with our decor, modern design & convenience is still available for your use in this 400sqf cottage: Free Wi-Fi, UV Smart Phone and Facemask light box, multidevice charging station, washer and dryer (located in our Bungalow steps away) SmartTV, Streaming, DVD collection, microwave, and off-street parking.
★★ 𝗟𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 ★★ The 𝘾𝙤𝙩𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙚 at 𝙀𝙧𝙚𝙝𝙬𝙤𝙣 𝙍𝙚𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 is located in the historic neighborhood of Seminole Heights with beautiful Craftsman-style homes and tree-lined streets. Because of its central location near downtown, the area blends residential homes with nearby commercial spaces and city traffic, offering excellent convenience and quick access to Tampa’s best dining, nightlife, and attractions. However, it may not be the best fit for guests seeking a quiet, suburban retreat with complete silence.
★★ 𝗕𝗘𝗗𝗥𝗢𝗢𝗠 ★★ The cottage sleeps 3 in its beautifully-decorated bedroom with comfortable queen bed. The side tables and warm lighting make it the perfect space to read and rest after a long day out. The City of Tampa limits occupancy to 2 person per original bedroom + 1 additional person.
★★ 𝗕𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗢𝗢𝗠 ★★ The cottage has one bathroom, complete with toilet, sink and walk-in shower. It’s sparkling clean, like the rest of the house. We provide luxurious custom-made Erewhon Retreat tea olive soap, made right from the plants found around the home. Toilet paper, towels, and shampoo are also provided.
★★ 𝗞𝗜𝗧𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗡 & 𝗟𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗚𝗘 ★★ The fully-stocked kitchenette has everything you need. There is a four-burner gas stove, microwave, mini fridge, sink, coffee maker, and basic pots and pans, dishes and silverware. You can sit at the breakfast table with your morning coffee and plan your day. We stock breakfast foods in the fridge and pantry, including cereal, pancake mix, real maple syrup, spices, butter, milk, fresh Florida orange juice, tea, coffee and more.
The cottage’s lounge continues the nostalgic theme, with a charming sofa, newly upholstered chair, and a TV. Curl up with a book, watch a favorite DVD, and make memories here. We want you to feel at home.
★★ 𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗗𝗢𝗢𝗥 𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗘 ★★ The front porch is a great place for relaxing. Sip tea on the porch and listen to the native birds. Enjoy our large Florida Native Plant garden and the quaint historic neighborhood (1911-1926), where hundreds of restored bungalows and Mediterranean homes date from the turn of the century. You also have access to the shared patio between the cottage and the bungalow.
★★ 𝐀𝐂𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐒 ★★ There are several cameras on the property: 1 video doorbell each the bungalow's front & backdoor (to laundry room). Cottage & manager's office front doors each have a video doorbell. 2 cameras on home's side overlooking pathway by fence, & pine pathway on the other side. All cameras record sound & audio upon motion activation for 30 seconds.
★★ 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 ★★ Florida winters are generally mild, and require heating only a small number of days during the year. Please note that the cottage does not have central heating and therefore, heating is not listed under "amenities." As a courtesy, we provide complementary portable radiator heater for cooler nights and days in the 60s and above. A second wall heater is available for times when temperatures remain below 50 degrees during the day and must be turned on by request.

This cottage was just what we needed for our trip. The host was wonderful and the coffee and fresh breakfast items in our fridge were most appreciated.
Our host Just was very welcoming and went beyond the call of duty to help us with any issues and she also made helpful recommendations about restaurants and sightseeing. All amenities were excellent.
The kitchen was well equipped. The unit was tidy. The air conditioning could have been better. Luckily, there were ceiling fans in the bedroom and living room that helped. The host was responsive to questions and perceived problems.
My husband and I enjoyed our short weekend stay here. This is the perfect place for someone who loves historical homes and neighborhoods. Located close to Busch Gardens, Tampa Zoo, and the Tampa Riverwalk, this is the ideal spot to enjoy events in the city of Tampa. We were able to walk to several restaurants in the neighborhood as well. The cottage was as described on VRBO. A huge plus for this property was that the fridge was stocked with milk, eggs, English muffins and juice! No need to worry about breakfast! Definitely would recommend a stay!
My best friend of 47 years and I had a magical 5 night stay at Erehwon Retreat the end of January 2024. This cozy and comfortable cottage is reminiscent of simpler times. Our morning walks netted many smiles and waves as well as a few delightful conversations with neighbors out in their yards. Great proximity to the airport, necessities, and easy access to Clearwater, St.Petersberg, Tarpon Springs, etc. Google “Erehwon” to learn the meaning and “Old Seminole Heights” to learn more about the area. I will definitely stay here again on future Tampa area visits.

Thank you for your lovely review! It truly means the world that you enjoyed your time at Erehwon Retreat and I hope to welcome you back again in the future!
The Cottage was as depicted in the photo. It was clean, and the host was very responsive. It was a little difficult to find it, and some repairs needed to be made. All said the bed was comfortable, the shower was hot, and there were plenty of towels. The orange juice and eggs in the fridge were a nice touch. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your recent stay. I’m happy to hear that you found the Cottage to be clean, comfortable, and that communication was easy. It is also nice to know that you appreciated all of the amenities. Moreover, I appreciate your candid feedback. As a business owner, it is important to me that guests can enjoy their stay at Erehwon Retreat, and I want to address the concerns mentioned: ??????? ????????????: Because there are several houses on the property, to ensure a smooth process, in addition to the address itself, I provide guests with the name of the cross street, an aerial shot of Erehwon Retreat that depicts the location of the Cottage on the property relative to the other buildings as well as a picture of the parking area and the Cottage itself. This way, even if guests’ GPS brings them to the main building, Cottage guests will be able to easily find their way to the Cottage located towards the back by the parking area. ???????????: I appreciate the feedback about maintenance and take those concerns seriously. I have reviewed my processes with my handyman to ensure that everything is in working order for future guests. I hope that my reviews here and elsewhere are proof that this is a one-off rather than a common occurrence. As a business owner, it is important to me that guests feel comfortable and I encourage future guests to reach out right away if there are any concerns during their stay. As I live on the premises, I aim respond promptly and I am committed to addressing any issues, including repairs, promptly.
What a cute little cottage. So well stocked, and SO clean! Super cozy bed. Good fans and a/c works well. Judy was excellent in responding to questions. Instructions were clearly laid out. Great location. 15 minutes to TPA, downtown, Ybor city, Busch Gardens. Great little coffee place steps away. And a pub 5 minute walk away with amazing food and prices! Wish we could have stayed longer. Would definitely stay here again.
I think there are 2 things that were a "bother" (and I use that very loosely). The hot water in the kitchen does not get hot (easily remedied by boiling water, or microwaving some). And the couch helps keep you from sitting around for too long. 😉
We enjoyed the cottage for 2 months. It had all we needed to just relax and enjoy getting away. The neighborhood is pleasant and is great for walking. Henry, our host, was accommodating and saw to it that all our needs were met.

Initially cute, lots of foliage, owner has issues
We had many unnerving confrontations with the owner. He accused us of not using the soap he told us to, we did, told my husband he was taking advantage of his laundry policy. It took so long because the owners linens were in the dryer so I folded them. My husband calmly told him we only did the two loads he allowed. We went to laundromat so to avoid confrontation. One one occasion he ask my husband if we had an iPad in the rental. We wondered how he knew that and if our communication was really private? My husband was also told that the owner knew more about us than we know. Puzzling statement? He also explained how vacation rentals worked, their structure, and charges and to save money call the owner directly. It seemed inappropriate for a business person. The final straw was receiving a text as we pulled in the driveway that we had violated the fire code by having our plastic suitcase box in the cottage. We immediately removed it and he charged out, to the truck, shaking his cane and yelling at my husband accusing us of moving furniture, and changing his "design", violating his contract and he could kick us out right then etc.
My husband kept saying he was sorry but the owner just keep ranting. Needless to say, we left to cool off from a litany of insults over the previous week's. We returned to the cottage and began to pack up and left ahead of schedule to stay elsewhere.

A wonderful retreat, just right for two. The proprietor made sure everything was perfect.
We were looking for a quiet place in the warmth of Tampa for the Christmas holiday. Our choice was excellent. The bungalow offered the privacy we sought with the amenities we wanted. The pictures actually how this 1020s era bungalow which has been updated to the 2000s. Henry, the proprietor, was a wealth of knowledge and his book of information made our vacation perfect. The refrigerator was stocked with the fresh food and condiments. Henry had thought of everything. We will be back!

Cozy, Clean, & Conveniently located!
This cottage brings the amenities of a hotel suite into a quiet, peaceful neighborhood. It is well maintained and cleaned regularly. Starter groceries and staples are provided. Privacy is respected, and social interaction is available. The general atmosphere is homey and inviting. As frequent travelers, my wife and I especially appreciated the comfortable bed and the large, plush towels. We highly recommend this cottage and hope to visit again in the future.

Very happy that you had a wonderful time. You didn't let any grass grow under your feet, you really saw the Central part of Florida and got as far S as Naples and the East Coast and yet found your way home every night during your two weeks with us. Would be delighted to see you if your travel plans call for Tampa in the future. Best

Very cute 1930's cottage
We enjoyed meeting Henry and found we had many things in common. He was a perfect host, around when you needed him, not obtrusive.
The cottage is small, but had everything we needed. The cupboards and fridge were stocked with items to get us started.
There are many nice restaurants nearby. Our favorite was the Rooster and the Till. You can sit at the bar and watch the chefs at work.
We rode our bikes down to the river and enjoyed the trails there. We also rode the Courtney Campbell trail that goes along the Bay. It's really nice, but we were against the wind on the ride back which was challenging for us old folks.
The week was relaxing and fun until we discovered our bikes were stolen the last night we were there. We had a supposedly burglar proof lock, but they were able to break it. So if you have bikes with you, I would take them inside at night.

Hi Barbara and Roger,
The Eurostyle in-ground bike rack we placed in service is buried in three feet of concrete. Since opening we've rented 2016 nights and this was the first robbery we've ever had. Since your incident I have purchased two New York Ubar Kryptonite bike locks for overnight storage by future guests. No question your cable lock works perfectly for day use but clearly it was easily popped open and there was no need to cut your cable by whoever stole your bikes.
Correction, the cottage was built in 1923.
As you know I was profoundly sorry and stunned by your loss. Glad you enjoyed the cottage.

Smallish bungalow good for a week; great dining in the area!
Great neighborhood and restaurants. Felt very safe. Enjoyed going for walks and looking at the different homes. The tiny bungalow was perfect for 2 people - super kitchen, smallish bathroom was made for only 1. Nice decor. No internet in the bedroom or kitchen held us back from working. But luckily we brought our own modem as we had a lot of work to do in addition to going back and forth to our new home. The host who went in and out of the house to check on the place and make sure we were comfortable. He was good with making suggestions on where to go and what to see, but learned quickly we were there for work purposes as well as closing on our new home; and not to sightsee. We would stay there again.

Michelle,
Thanks for your note. Of the 268 nights we hosted in the cottage in 2016, you visit was the only stay in which the purpose was other than vacation and we remember what it's like moving a long distance and waiting for contractors and moving vans. Clearly stressful when three hours after check out you message that your husband is on the way back to pick up all the clothes you left in the hall closet. Hopefully, you all are settled in and loving Carollwood.
