Mala Villa is a decidedly contemporary architect designed villa inspired by its setting. The sloping site leads down to the shore of a tranquil lake and has been used to full advantage. Opened in 2008, the villa is situated at the end of a quiet road just 10 minutes away from the beaches, restaurants and shops of Hikkaduwa Town.
The property was designed by architect Rihan Peruma and the simplicity of his design with lofty, light-filled interiors, enhanced by contemporary furniture and the bold use of colour creates an environment which is a joy to encounter. High ceilings and natural air flow keeps the villa cool sustained by the natural cement floors.
Picture windows give uninterrupted views of the lake which can be reached at the foot of the gardens just beyond the private pool. The villa offers a welcome change to the colonial style of beach villas which line the coast.
Mala Villa sleeps up to six adults in three spacious ensuite air-conditioned bedrooms - two doubles and a twin. The twin can be configured as a double on request.
The villa comes with a housekeeper to look after you, performing daily housekeeping tasks as well as looking after the pool and garden. Whilst the villa is set up for self-catering and has a fully equipped kitchen, we can arrange for a daily cook to come and prepare meals for you; there is a modest cost for this.
