About Diane or Jay Gilbert

My husband Jay and I purchased our home in the Peter Pam development when my son James was 2 years old. We bought it from the original owners who lived in Southern California, so the home was rarely used and everything was "like new". We have enjoyed snowy family Christmas' here as well as summers playing at nearby Pinecrest Lake. Being from nearby Oakdale, my husband has fond memories of Pinecrest, when as a child he spent summers here camping with his family.

I have enjoyed decorating our mountain home, mixing vintage pieces, including many old postcards and pictures of Pinecrest from years past with new comfortable furnishings. I think you will find our home to be a relaxing place with all the modern conveniences.

Now that our son is older he prefers to spend weekends at home playing with friends, so we are making our home available to you. We trust that you will enjoy it as much as we have and create many special memories of your own.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a fantastic time over the New Year's. It is such a beautiful place that has been decorated so lovingly and there was not a single thing missing. The beds were super comfortable and all the towels so luscious and plenty of them. The beautiful home did help ease the disappointment of the missing snow and since we could not hop onto the ski slopes we made full use of the home's playing cards, Monopoly game, etc. We cooked great food and enjoyed the sun on the pretty deck. We hope to be back!

Lovely Mountain Home

  • 4 of 5

This was our second visit to this property and we enjoyed it thoroughly. The area is very peaceful and about ten minutes from Pinecrest Lake. The cabin is well outfitted and comfortable for two couples. We cooked and there is plenty of china, cutting boards, pots and pans, etc. We hope to return again next year.

Very comfortable and clean vacation home

  • 5 of 5

This is my second stay in this vacation home and it won't be our last. I have been going to Pinecrest Lake my whole life and have always stayed in cabins but eventually decided we needed a bit more luxury. There is a clean and bright look in a home vs. a cabin (which tend to be dark). This home has air conditioning, a washer and dryer and an upgraded kitchen. When we arrived this year I was again impressed with how clean it was upon our arrival. There is plenty of room for two families and the beds are all very comfortable. There are large closets so you don't feel like you are living out of your suitcase when there is so much room available to store everything. The deck out back is new and large. There is morning sunlight and in the evening it is shaded and cool. On the deck is a large table with an umbrella, it was very comfortable and there was room for all of us. Probably the best part about this vacation home is the cabinet in the living room full of probably any movie ever worth watching. We spent a lot of time watching the Olympics this year but still managed to watch 'Rebel Without a Cause' and 'Rebecca'. We loved having a large garage to pull our car into at the end of every day. The garage also keeps your car cool and there is room to leave your beach gear. Thank you Diane for a wonderful visit, we'll talk to you next year! One last thing is I'd love it if the dining room chandelier had a dimmer on it. ;)

Clean, spacious and updated!

  • 5 of 5

This was definitely a vacation HOME! It was updated, spacious, great décor, and very clean. Additionally, the owners were so easy to get ahold of and work with. We had a marvelous time and will definitely be back next year.

Wonderful mountain home

  • 5 of 5

We lucked out and got this last minute for the Fourth of July weekend (NO idea how this was not already booked)...it was wonderful. We enjoyed dinner on the large deck every night, grilled outside, relaxed on the deck playing tons of games we brought and just enjoyed breathing the fresh air. We let the kids explore a bit, though this is in a community with other homes around and not just open space so they had to pay attention to be respectful of not crossing into other people's property. I was a bit worried it would be too rustic for this city girl, but it was perfect inside. Very comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, and great classic toys in the kids' room that really helped at night and in the morning when we were inside. There was a wii and a dvd player that we used. But the real highlight of the trip was the stuff we got to do that was within driving distance. My husband and daughter were able to book a half-day horseback riding trip the morning of with a really nice operation called Aspen Meadow Pack Station for a reasonable price with exceptionally friendly guides. Highly recommend this. Pismo Lake was packed, being Fourth of July weekend, but it looked like it would be a fun place during the summer. My husband took my boys down to the river and they had fun splashing around and exploring. We took one day and drove down to Columbia State Historic Park where you can visit an old mining town. Very interesting history but engaging enough for all my kids (ages 3-10). They dipped candles, panned for gold, saw a blacksmith hammering on an anvil, had sasparilla floats and ate old-fashioned candy. There were also carriage rides, docent-led tours and lots of fun shops. Worth the drive if you're into semi-education family fun. :) Anyways, we were wishing we had more time to spend here exploring, but my husband had to be home for work. Highly recommend this place and we hope to be back again and maybe catch one of the movies under the stars at the Pinecrest Theater next time. Many thanks to Diane for sharing her wonderful home where we made some happy family memories!

Great Place to Stay!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin (home) was immaculate when we arrived. It's located near Pinecrest lake, and is a quick drive away. The owner was pleasant and helpful when I contacted her with a question about the WiFi and internet service. We had a great time and would recommend this vacation home to anyone looking to have a clean and comfortable stay in the Pinecrest area.

Best place to stay ...

  • 5 of 5

The title is accurate. This is a luxury mountain home. Its by far the best place we have stayed in the Pinecrest area. We have stayed in about ten places. Its well maintained and comfortable. The owners are great. Responsive and easy to work with. The house has something for everyone - games and dvds ready for the kids post a long day of skiing. If its available, take it. You wont regret it.
