Italy has a green heart : Umbria : in the center of the peninsula, Umbria is crossed by the Apennines sloping into green valleys (the large Tiber valley that goes down to Rome and the sea); sometimes it opens into a Lake (Trasimeno, Piediluco); beautiful waterfalls (Le Marmore) or clear springs (the Clitunno). Its artistic and medieval towns (Perugia with the Etruscan underground city Rocca Paolina, Cortona, Assisi, Spoleto, Gubbio, Todi....) are at a short distance from one another. Throughout the year every town or borgo has its own festival where you can enjoy simple and genuine dishes prepared in the age-old way with typical local products : cheeses, cold cuts, black truffles, meat, fish, olive oil, wines, mineral waters. The interest in art, music, theater, nature, food... has given origin to manifestations of an international scale : the Festival of Two Worlds (Spoleto), Eurochocolate (Perugia), Water Festival (Terni), Umbria Jazz (Perugia) and many others.
