Kid-friendly house with kids movies, games, toys, sled, beach toys, baseball bats, balls, frisbees and more.

Jay Mountain wilderness trails are close-by. Easy trails out the door for hiking, snow shoeing, and cross-country skiing.

Walking distance to: world-renowned Ausable River for fly-fishing, historic Jay covered bridge, park/playground, swim hole by waterfalls, Jay gazebo where they hold concerts in the park in the summer, and JEMS Theater.

Only 10 minutes to Wilmington for more swimming at the public beach, Whiteface Memorial Highway, Santa's Workshop, and world-class skiing at Whiteface - featuring the largest vertical drop in the Northeast.

Cross-country ski centers (Cascade and Verizon Complex) are a 20 minute drive away.

Lake Placid (home of the 1932 and 1980 Olympics) is less than 30 minutes away.

Drive in the other direction to see the Ausable Chasm (10 minutes) or take a ferry ride across Lake Champlain to Burlington, VT. The Port Kent ferry is only 45 minutes away. Check out Ferries.com.

Foodies will be satisfied: there are lots of new family-run farms in area with cheese, milk, eggs, chicken, beef, sausage, bacon, etc. Keene farmer's market is on Sundays, starting mid-June. I will send you a list of farms and farmer's markets.

Additional information about rental rates

Fees and Rental Conditions:

  • Fee if trash not removed $50
  • Property Damage Protection $59
  • Pet Fee $100
  • Laundry Fee if 5+ people $25
  • Tax Rate 3%

Notes:

Damage Protection:

Homeaway offers a great low cost property damage protection. You pay only $59 dollars for $1500 worth of protection.

I used to do a refundable $300 security deposit, but we lose some money that way, as Homeaway takes transaction fees off the total $300.

If you really still want to do the refundable $300 security deposit, we can easily arrange that, otherwise, we will add the $59 dollars to the rental for lots of coverage.

If you are staying 7 nights/week, it is a discounted rate of 140/night. Total of $980 for the week. I also like to give discounts on additional nights added to a weekly rental. Discounts for repeat renters too! Thank you!

Manager info

Year Purchased: 1969

About: This house was built by my grandparents in the 60's to retire in the peace and serenity of the Adirondacks. My grandfather loved to fish and hunt. My grandmother loved how the mountains looked different every time she looked out the window. The house was passed down to my parents and now to me. I named the 2 maple trees out front Grandma and Grandpa! We are dedicated to making this house a comfortable and affordable gettaway.

Why Jay, NY, USA:
We have lots of windows to enjoy the 180 degree views of the mountains, including Jay Mountain wilderness and Whiteface Mountain. There are no visible neighbors. Quiet gettaway. Enjoy the 4 large Maple trees in the fall. Enjoy the trails all year around. Clean and well-maintained home. Rustic decor.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Seclusion! Not another house in site. 18 acres with walking trails.
