I do not enjoy writing negative reviews; but trust the two star ratings. We left without staying.
Cleanliness: There are a shocking number of dead bugs. Easily hundreds of dead, dry ladybugs (messaged owner before; see below). We found multiple long human hairs on the bed. A mysterious, milky blue stain all over the couch. Off the loft, behind a small door: bloody toilet paper, a pillow, and a half-consumed drink amongst the insulation… creepy
SAFETY: There are clear signs of forced entry—with what look to be crowbar pry-marks— on the main door. All ground level window screens were cut, missing, or unsecured. And despite a key lock box, the downstairs door was UNLOCKED. And it’s not just us: another female reviewer noted the unlocked lower door and her unease. Once is an accident; twice is a pattern. We felt incredibly unsafe. Even my dopey, happy pitbull resisted entering. Despite the $$$ spent, for my gfs birthday :(, we didn’t stay.
Reviewer-gaslighting: I asked owner about the reviews before staying. He was responsive, said the cabin is sprayed by Orkin & there were no bugs. Trusting his word, we booked. But after leaving, we read the reviews more thoroughly. The owner gaslights reviewers in his responses (e.g. reviewer error—unworking lights “have dimmers” (they don’t)). At best, the cabin isn’t checked on/cleaned often. If bugs and possible break-ins don’t bother you, the views are great. Have 4-wheel drive; sketchy, steep road up, past decomposing houses/cars
