Overview

About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Sleeping Porch, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

Hand scribed log cabin perched high on a cliff overlooking lake superior. Surrounded by big red and white pines, it truly is the 'land of the pines.' Kick back on the deck or in the large screen porch and watch the ships coming and going from Silver Bay Harbor. Huge view of the lake and Palisade Head. Very private and peaceful.

Tons to do, near Tettegouche and Split Rock state parks and Silver Bay Marina. Excellent waterfalls, Baptism river, swimming, hiking, fishing, biking, rock climbing, sailing, boating, kayaking, the list goes on...

or a perfect spot to sit and take in the views and do nothing at all.

Winter season brings a whole new array of activities and scenery. The snow covered white pines with the blue waters of Lake Superior is amazing! There is a new dove tail wood fired sauna for those sore skiing, snowmobiling muscles. You can access the North Shore State Trail system from the cabin and get just about anywhere on your snowmobile. There are several great cross country ski trails nearby, including Tettegouche State Park, where you can ski into an old hunting camp of several log cabins and a nice lodge. You can pack in a lunch and make a fire in the fireplace. There is also the Northwoods Ski Trail in Silver Bay and Flathorn-Gegoka in Isabella, just to name a few.

There is a queen and a double bed in the loft with a huge skylight for star gazing and lightning storms. The screen porch becomes a sleeping porch at night with a futon and pull down shades, there is also a comfy futon in the living room.

Centrally located on the North Shore only 50 miles to Grand Marais, 58 miles to Duluth or 50 miles to Ely and the Boundary Waters. The Silver Bay Marina is only six miles away. Superior Hiking trail is a quarter mile.

Beautiful, cozy cabin in the woods seated atop the bluffs overlooking Lake Superior.

  • 5 of 5

Magical! We had the most wonderful time. The cabin was wonderful, clean, great amenities. Shawn definitely put a lot of care in setting up the place and it shows. We'll definitely be back! Tettegouche state park building is located at the bottom of the hill - great hiking trails all around. Fantastic place for a romantic get away - we went for our 15th wedding anniversary - could not have had a better time. Thanks Shawn and Ed

Fabulous couple getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This super cozy log cabin (built by the owner btw!) lives up to the pics. It's quite secluded and quiet and perfect for a couples weekend. The big draw for us was the wood fired sauna which was even better than expected. We were there in November so we didn't utilize the screen porch, but that would certainly be a favorite spot for us in warmer seasons. Another plus was the in-floor heating (locked at 62 degrees) which meant we didn't need to stoke a fire all day just to keep the place warm. When we did put a fire on, that little stove totally heats the whole cabin. Just a heads up if you're planning on watching movies all weekend (we weren't but did watch one or two), the TV/DVD combo is about a 19" LCD screen and located in the loft, so leave your epics at home and bring an extra book!

The owners were really communicative and made themselves available for questions once we arrived. They also accommodated a last minute change in our arrival date, for which we were very grateful. We will absolutely be back!

North Shore Home Away From Home!

  • 5 of 5

We just got home from five days at this gem and had such a wonderful time! Mid-October and the fall colors were at their prime for our stay. My husband and I stayed here with our three boys and loved every. single. minute.

The log cabin is beautiful both inside and out. Shawn and Ed thought of everything when they stocked it for their guests, and everything was in good working order. There is a woodstove inside that warms up the cabin on chilly evenings, and we also took advantage of the outdoor firepit enjoying s'mores with the kids. The sauna is a fabulous treat after a long day of hiking! It is ideally situated along the North Shore and the property is bordered by Tettegouche State Park so you have a lot of privacy. We did a few day trips - north to Grand Marais for hiking, shopping and great restaurants, and west to Ely to visit the International Wolf Center as well as the Bear Center. That said, you wouldn't have to get in the car at all to get out on several different hiking trails or beaches right nearby.

We were able to meet Shawn while there, and she is wonderfully warm. We look forward to coming back next year to this little slice of heaven!

Great 65th Birthday

  • 5 of 5

This little cabin was perfect for a birthday celebration. Had everything you could need for a week stay. Shawn stayed in touch with us making sure we didn't have any issues. We loved the sauna and the fire pit. Plenty of wood for us to use. Lots of things to do and see. The lighthouse was very interesting. Went to Ely and the wolf and bear reserve. Drove to Sudan and went to the underground mine. There is no internet and hubby survived a week with no TV. Would highly recommend this cabin.
