About Bern McGovern
My wife and I bought this beautiful cabin in 2012. We've been coming to Big Bear for years and I finally convinced my wife to take the plunge and we bought our first Vacation Home. We both work and live in the LA area, but enjoy to get out of the city whenever we can. Big Bear was the perfect place for us as it's just close enough for us to go on short notice. We are positive you will enjoy our home as much as we do.

Why Bern McGovern chose Moonridge
We wanted something close to the slopes as we love to ski and snowboard as much as possible. The lake is beautiful in the non winter months as well. We also wanted a home that had that 'cabin' feel. After all we are in Big Bear! Once you pull up to the house you will have no doubt that you chose the right place.
What makes this Cabin unique
We fell in love with the house as soon as we saw it. The unique log exterior screams Big Bear. If we were going to buy a vacation home in the mountains, we wanted to make sure it felt like a cabin. The double decks were also a huge bonus as the view through the trees is amazing, not to mention the 6 person hot tub on the bottom deck. Another huge plus is the GIANT game room on the first floor. You can gather around the TV with plenty of room for a large group and watch your favorite movie or slide over to the pool table and challenge someone to a game. Either way, this house has it all!

Fabulous cabin & location!
Staying here was perfect! Had 3 teens and 4 adults and it was roomy and comfortable. The game room was a hit with the boys as they could have there own "hang out" and listen to their music. They all got back from a cold rainy day of snowboarding and the Jacuzzi was the first thing they wanted to do.
The owner was awesome! Available whenever we had questions or concerns. Friendly and wanted our stay to be the best! Thank you Bern! We would definitely look into renting your place again.
The house was great, very cozy with plenty of space for everyone. Perfect location. Very clean. Game room was a lot of fun. Bern was very responsive. Hope to stay here on our next visit to big bear!
Great place to get away from it all...
Pros: This place is huge. We had plenty of room for the 6 people that went up. Grocery store and restaurants are nearby. No cell reception (AT&T) in the cabin, which I enjoyed because I really wanted to get away from technology. Great hiking trails nearby (10 minute drive). Place has great heating, we were never cold (November). Pool table and shuffle board were fun to have.
Cons: $175 Cleaning Fee, which is fine, but then we found out after we paid that we had to sweep the floors and empty all the trashcans in the place (then take the trash to the local trash receptacle) or we would be charged another $100. Also, the hot tub was locked at 101 degrees (barely warm), so we did not use it.
Overall: We all had a great time. This place was fun to be at. Just wish we could have enjoyed the hot tub.
The house was amazing super clean, and looked exactly like the pictures. My family had a great time, and Bern made the stay easy. Kept in contact and answered any questions fast.
The family and I absolutely love this cabin
Very spacious and clean
Had a great stay
My kids really enjoyed themselves
The game room was entertaining
The location is in a lovely area
Easy check in and out, no issues at all.
We stayed at this property over New Year's and made the best of our stay. The house is located right across from a little hill which is perfect for sledding. The kids had a blast sledding and sliding and playing in the snow all day. The only problem is that when you walk into the house on the bottom floor it is ice cold. There is no heater down there. We had to stay upstairs the entire time because it was too cold to be down stairs. It really is a shame because the best part of the house is downstairs. That is where the pool table, shuffle board, large flat screen tv and a large couch to relax one is. We did not use this room at all. Also we were told there was supposed to be rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom as well as paper towels and there was only 2 rolls of toilet paper in the entire house and no paper towels. There is also only 1 hand towel for the entire house! We had to run to the store to pick up toilet paper and paper towels which isn't a big deal because it is a short drive to the store. Overall, I think this is a great house with a great location for families but the downstairs room was way too cold and we didn't even get to use it. If you stay at this house bring plenty of firewood to help heat the house.
UPDATED: We just replaced the heater in the house so everything is heating much better!
I'm sorry to hear you were not able to use the downstairs. There is heat down there but the heater is located upstairs so the upstairs always stays warmer then the downstairs as we mention in our cabin instructions. We also have a space heater located in the garage for those extra cold days.
There should have been two rolls of toilet paper in every bathroom so I do apologize if that was not the case. I'll make sure they double check that in the future. I also give every renter my personal cell phone to text/call me if you have any problems. We appreciate the feedback as we don't know if no one tell us.
Located on a quiet street less than a mile from Bear Mountain. Very private as the house is covered by huge trees. Close proximity to grocery store and village.
