About Peter Ryan

We split time evenly between our Montana home and our residence in Huntington Beach, California. She's retired; he's definitely not!

Peter Ryan purchased this house in 2010

Why Peter Ryan chose Livingston

Our neighbors are the friendliest people you will find. Montana isn't somewhere you visit ... it's a state of mind.

What makes this house unique

We have looked out the window to see a dozen deer grazing in our yard or 150-200 elk passing by at the far end of the property.

Better than expected!

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely cabin. The sweeping views are so relaxing. Makes you want to wake up early!

The cabin has everything you need and lots of little extras. Peter was a welcoming and conscientious host. When I booked there was a special for a $100 gift certificate to Chico Hot Springs but it was for 7 night stay (we stayed 3 nights). I inquired about it and Peter informed me it was for the longer stay and I was fine with that answer but Peter gave it to us anyway which was really going above and beyond. We were in the area exploring Yellowstone and I only wish we had more time in the cabin enjoying it and relaxing.

I come from a travel and hospitality background and the owners do a great job of nailing the little details.

P.S. The loft bed is every bit as comfortable as an upscale hotel bed.

Tranquil Paradise

  • 5 of 5

The Ryan's were such accommodating hosts and so very thoughtful. For a time we thought we might not be able to make the trip, and they were understanding of our situation. "Paradise" Valley perfectly describes the area the cabin is located in. Peaceful too! The cabin is well appointed and decorated with such detail. We loved the loft bedroom; a vista view from every side, not to mention the bedding was super comfortable. Cute indoor "outhouse". No matter what activity took us away for the day, we couldn't wait to come back to the cabin. The kitchen was stocked with basic items we needed (salt, pepper, sugar, flour, tea, sweetener, foil, plastic wrap, napkins, paper towels, storage bags). We cooked most breakfasts and several dinners in. Nice to have a gas grill. We also liked having a washer and dryer. Wi-Fi and satellite TV were an added bonus. If you enjoy wildlife, you'll love the mule deer just feet away from the cabin in the mornings and evenings. We spent several long days in Yellowstone. The cabin is 45-50 min from the north entrance of the Park, but it's a beautiful drive along the river. Something to consider as you plan your day. We packed lunch as there are numerous picnic areas throughout the Park. Don't miss Boiling River not far inside the north entrance of Yellowstone; bring your swimsuit and a towel. Easy 1/2 mi walk on flat trail. I'm mentioning a few places we ate and would recommend them if you have time. Dinner at Chico Hot Springs (make reservations), Follow Yer' Nose BBQ in Emigrant (brisket, pulled pork, ribs, baked beans, variety of beer, outdoor seating and good music); Breakfast - The Wildflour Bakery, Emigrant (breakfast sandwich, cinnamon rolls, apple turnovers), Gil's, Livingston (the breakfast combo w eggs, hash browns, bacon or sausage is oh so good, fresh squeezed orange juice and cinnamon roll--a must). We also had a really good lunch there. We heard their wood fired pizza is great, but we ran out of time. We enjoyed browsing various shops, thrift shops, and antique malls in Livingston too. Enjoy the cabin...we did! Thank you Pete and Derilynn.

The rental was perfect for quiet relaxing couple vacation. The rental was decorated adorably!

  • 5 of 5

The rental was very clean with all kinds of welcoming touches. We spent 3 nights and took in the sights of Yellow Stone. It was a little bit of a drive but worth it. Spent one day at Old Faithful and the next at Canyon Falls (Upper and Lower). Our last day hiked Washburn Mt and then had dinner at Yellow Stone Grill. A wonderfully western experience can be had in Paridise Valley!

Spacious, well equipped, and gorgeous views!

  • 5 of 5

Pete and Derilynn have really outdone themselves with this place. I was blown away when I walked inside. Every feature was high end and such care was taken to make it feel like home. The living room and dining area had a huge open ceiling with two fans and a beautiful lighting piece hanging from the very top. The cabin was constructed in 2012 and still felt brand new. The wood work throughout was top quality. There was hand crafted stairs leading up to a loft area that had the most comfortable bed I had ever laid on. I could actually sleep on my side and the mattress would absorb you in with a gentle embrace and the pillows were somehow constructed of the same cloud material. There was a cute little outhouse door up in the loft that had a half bath. The views from the loft when you awoke were breathtaking as the morning sun lit up the mountain view that you were able to completely take in through the full windowed front of the cabin. The kitchen was stocked better than my Grandma's house. Pots, pans, cutting boards, utensils, everything you could ever need. A full fridge, dishwasher, 4 spot electric burner and wide trough sink were just fantastic for cooking and cleaning after preparing our meals. There was a bedroom downstairs next to the bathroom with another bed and closet, but we preferred the loft. The bathroom was the best part of this cabin. There was a huge bathtub with jets and bath salts available for use that was great after a day of horseback riding. The shower had a fantastic waterfall head and regular head with plenty of toiletries available. The towels were so soft and fluffy and smelled heavenly. Derilynn was so kind and had a personalized greeting card ready and waiting for us. She then brought us over some baked sweets and candy to say hello. Communication with Pete and Derilynn was prompt and informative. Our stay was wonderful in this home away from home. Definitely worth it and we will be staying there again on our next Montana trip!

Beautiful cabin in Paradise Valley

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a wonderful vacation based at the Golden Grizzly Cabin in Paradise Valley. It was such a joy to return to the cabin after each day of exploring Yellowstone National Park. No crowds, peace and quiet, comfort and access to everything you need. We used the outdoor grill almost every evening and enjoyed nature's show of thunderstorms passing by the beautiful nearby mountains. Nothing but peace and quiet as well as beautiful scenery surround you. Peter and Derilynn have provided everything you could possibly need in the comfortable cabin. We shopped in Bozeman and prepared wonderful meals. We will always have found memories of our vacation in the Paradise Valley at the Golden Grizzly!
