About Robin Winfree-Andrew

We love to travel, and so we enjoy making our cabin a place for other travelers to relax in a beautiful location. We have both lived in Oregon for over 40 years, and we love to share the incredible beauty of the Cascade Mountains with our guests.

Robin Winfree-Andrew purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Robin Winfree-Andrew chose Willamette Valley

The Forest House is uniquely located on the edge of the Willamette National Forest, and in a great central location for exploring all the McKenzie Valley area has to offer. We hope our guests will enjoy the peaceful quiet of the forest, as well as the sounds and view of Elk Creek from our deck.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Waking up on Christmas morning to everything covered with snow, what more could we ask for? We had an amazing time while we were here: great location, great food, and great company. We went for hikes, even down to the creek in the snow, and built snowmen and had snoball fights. Thanks for sharing your little hidden gem with us; we are thinking this would make a great Christmas tradition!

A Great hideaway!

  • 4 of 5

My family and I had a good few days at this property. We would have liked to have stayed longer but real life beckoned. The cabin is conveniently located to various excursions on the McKenzie. We visited Salalie and Koosah Falls, Belknap Springs, Cougar and Blue River Reservoirs and Clear Lake. All a short drive away. The cabin is quiet and cozy. I enjoyed very much reading on the deck. The only heads up would be that there are areas in the cabin that are a little dark inside and the trail to the creek could use a little attention. Besides that, we had a great time and we would easily go back!!

Cozy Accommodating Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is all about comfort and relaxation. We have gone for years in all seasons and it is always a memorable time. The details are taken care of so there is no need to back basic supplies and it is a true cozy cabin in the forest. We walk the old forest road by the house. It winds up for a few miles and is a great workout and hike. The boys spend endless hours by the creek finding frogs and playing. This time, there was a magical dusting of snow and we soaked at the nearby hot springs. I recommend it to anyone who wants a media free quiet getaway. A gem.

Winter Wonderland

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for six nights and loved every minute of it. While unloading our car we were welcomed by a neighbor. I found no internet or phone service refreshing and relaxing. There was snow on the ground and the second day it snowed 5 inches. We brought our dog Buddy and took him on long walks down the old logging road. We enjoyed the local Hot Springs every day. The owners were Amazing to work with and Robin even called to make sure all was well when a cold front came through. We hope to come again and visit every season.

A disappointment

  • 2 of 5

The setting is beautiful, the deck is quiet and peaceful and it was clean. However we found the upstairs of this a-frame cabin to be totally unusable. It was very hot during our stay and with no air conditioning the upstairs was unbearable. Also the stairs were steep and narrow with limited head space. Essentially we paid for an entire section of the house that we found unusable. The lighting in the house is very strange and inadequate leaving the cabin feeling dark (the kitchen has a desk lamp facing toward the sink because the lighting is so poor). The kitchen was well stocked although not having a microwave was inconvenient and it's the first rental we have been in in years that did not supply paper towels. Would we go back? No. There are other rental homes with peaceful settings and nice decks for less money and with usable upstairs.

Owner's Response: It's too bad you did not enjoy our rustic cabin; we stay there often, and have found that opening the windows and doors, which are all screened, along with the ceiling fan and the portable fan creates a nice ventilation throughout the house. And there are always paper towels in the kitchen cabinet... we certainly try to anticipate our guests' needs. Thank you for your input.

So very relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was charming and the area was so tranquil. My 13 yr old black lab hasn't been this happy or relaxed in years. My partner and I enjoyed it as well. There's no wi-fi and you have to go to the street to get a signal on your phone but that just added to the escapism. If you stay there, be sure to visit Cougar Reservoir nearby so you can experience Terwilliger Hot Springs.
