Old Times and Adventures

  • 5 of 5

Hi Robin/Rosmarie

My Brother ,Lamar , visited us this past weekend en route to his Colorado property where he is building a cabin. As is the case when family gets together ,we reminisced about "old times " and adventures.

The subject of our Lake Tahoe trips came up and we had a most wonderful time recalling the days/nights spent at Smuggler's Cove and Stonehenge.

The likelihood of our ever returning as a family unit is slim but I just wanted you to know that the times at your amazing homes and your personal warmth and hospitality are among the best our family has ever experienced .

I know it may sound strange, but there is something almost magical or spiritual about our vacations experiences we had there.

Maybe its a combination of the beauty of the place ,the fact that family is "together" with much laughter, relaxation and adventure all melding together.

In any case ,many thanks for you just being who you are and providing the service and caring that you do.

Peace and Blessings,

Geoff M

Owner's Response: Dear Geoff, It has taken us a little time to respond to your review because, quite honestly, we get teary-eyed every time we read it. Your kind words have touched our hearts and have made us count our blessing for being able to open our homes for folks like you. We sincerely hope you and your family can find your way back someday.

Beautiful property in the Keys!

  • 5 of 5

Lake Tahoe is beautiful and having a place to call home for a week in the Keys was amazing. The views of the mountains and all the boats in the keys made for a picturesque setting and a great vacation. The house was really interesting and unique. Multiple levels and lots of decks meant there was a lot of space for our family of 8 and we never felt like we were on top of each other. We enjoyed using the kayaks and rented a boat for a few days, so the dock came in handy too. We also had a lot of fun playing pool and ping pong! There are lots of TVs throughout the house also, and while we didn't spend very much time watching TV, it was nice to have the option of having the news on or sports on and the kids can still watch cartoons in a different room.

The only suggestions/items that could use some attention- there are a few bikes in the garage which would have been great to use but the rims are bent on every bike. Also, a blowdryer or two would have been appreciated in any of the bathrooms (we didn't bring any as they usually are included in rentals we have stayed at- but no biggie- we went and bought two from kmart.) Overall, we had a great time at Smuggler's Cove and would stay again if we return to the area. Highly recommend!!

Amazing Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We spent my wife's birthday weekend with our entire family at this amazing property. There was something for everyone from our 9 year old granddaughter kayaking in the cove to the rest of our crew being entertained with fishing, paddle boarding, lounging on the deck, hitting the casino, or just enjoying the property. Thank you Robin for sharing your unique treasure. We hope to do it again soon.

Robin and Rosemarie, My family and I want to thank you for opening up your home to us for the holidays!

The stay was beyond our expectations....Everything was perfect. The home was stocked with anything and everything we could have asked for and beyond. We went in the hopes of creating family memories, your home afforded us to do that in a warm, inviting comfortable setting. Thank you again for opening your home to our family. Happy New Year to you both Shary

First, the owner was a pleasure with work with. I think that is the first thing anyone should consider when renting a home for a vacation; how well the owner works with their tenants.

Anyone who is looking on VRBO knows that there are so many houses to pick. If you are lucky enough to land on this property, I recommend that you end your search as your perfect vacation home rental has been found.

The home itself was a blast. I was able to use each space of the home so well that it made the home feel huge. Good kitchen, the only need for improvement is the stove top. Every basic kitchen need will be found, even a pizza slicer! The Dining room positioned well next to the kitchen, patio with gas BBQ, and a great view of the marina. living room has AMAZING lighting for evening relaxation; it has two patios, one that opens to the mountains, the second that opens to the marina. created such a nice breeze and view.

the master bedroom is extremely private, spacious, and unique with a spiral stone shower, private toilet closet, and secluded sauna. Very nice view of the mountain.. if you don't like the sun to grace your face in the morning, bring some eye guards as the skylight directly above the bed is either a blessing or a curse depending on your presences.

Downstairs is where the fun is, as well as a second master suite, and a junior suite. I personally slept in the downstairs master suite with views of the marina and private Safari bathroom. the junior suite is perfect for those who like a darker sleeping environment. it has a good private bathroom and nice built in day bed for getting away, reading a book, or even an extra space for a small one to sleep.

The fun.. built in bar with nice flat screen TV, pool table, two day beds, access to the third patio with a ping pong table (didn't use) and the SPA! the wine cellar is a nice feature to look at, but for short term visits it is not likely you will need to use.

having the rare ability to rent PPV on your own was great. you can use a personal credit card to order and it was so easy to take care of (just get the receiver information from the TV and call the number provided on the station you want) Other properties refused this ability which is shame.

you may wonder about the bathrooms as there are no photos, take it from me, you will be pleased. there are plenty of showers, toilets, and sinks.

Overall, this will surely be an annual vacation rental. I won't be looking for another property.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write such a thorough review of your stay at Smuggler's Cove. It is lovely to hear you had a great time. Your comments have made me look into getting gas to the island and installing a new gas cook top which will be a great addition to the kitchen. Thanks again for being such respectful caring guests!
