The remarkable town of Alpirsbach is located in the northern part of the Black Forest. The landmark of Alpirsbach is its monastery which is over 900 years old. All year round, guided tours and the associated monastery museum offer fascinating insights into the life of the Benedictine monks. A cultural highlight are the annually held concerts inside the monastery, as well as the Subiaco open-air cinema. In addition to the monastery of Alpirsbach, numerous other attractions invite to a pleasant stroll through town. Visit the Alpirsbacher Brewing World and its brewery museum, which offers interesting insights into the history of beer production. Both, the Alpirsbacher brewery shop and the monastic distillery, offer good opportunities to find souvenirs for the loved ones back home. Furthermore, the Alpirsbacher glass factory creates hand blown artworks every day. Another delight is the Alpirsbacher confectionery which manufactures finest pralines and chocolate products.

Reinerzau, which belongs to the city of Alpirsbach, is located in the Kinzig valley. Enjoy nature in one of the most beautiful valleys in the northern Black Forest. Regardless whether you prefer hiking, cycling, mountain biking or skiing, Reinerzau is an ideal destination for every nature loving person. The Reinerzauer water path leads via an idyllic walkway to the waterworks Little Kinzig and the associated reservoir. 34 information boards along the path explain the element water in all of its facets. Furthermore, an ancient water wheel can be examined. Arriving at the reservoir, a lovely panorama shows the entire beauty of the valley. On hot summer days, the Reinerzauer Silver Lake offers free fun for the entire family. From 8 am to 8 pm, you can swim in the water or sunbathe and relax on the beach. A barbecue area and beach volleyball court ensure additional fun and variety.

With over 100 wells in the city, the sculpture path, museums and a diverse cultural program, the district town Freudenstadt is also an interesting and exciting destination for an excursion. Built in 1599 with an area of 720 sq. ft., Freudenstadt has the largest market place in Germany. Surrounded by beautiful arcades, with its numerous cafes and shops, the market place allows relaxed shopping as well as a beautiful stroll through town. A great way to explore the city offers a tour with the so-called 'Kurbähnle'. You are looking for relaxation and entertainment for your little ones at the same time? The Panorama bath and spa offers fun for the entire family. With over 300,000 visitors annually, it is one of the most popular regional leisure facilities in the northern Black Forest. In winter, the nearby village of Kniebis provides sports fans optimal conditions for skiing vacation. 3,300 ft. above sea-level, Kniebis offers a 44 mi. large network of cross-country ski-tracks as well as a ski resort.

3/5 Okay

Suzanne W.

Nice appartment, not located in town though, so transport is required. Friendly owners on site.
The property was comfortable (my bed was very comfortable) but the room with the bunk beds had no storage or side table/bedside light. We used this room for an adult but even children need somewhere to put their clothes and kit. There was a huge amount of storage in the main bedroom but it's not always convenient for people to swan in and out when they need to. For us English types, tea is a major refreshement and whilst coffee making is generally well provided for, a tea pot and good sized mugs were not available. The owners were very relaxed about our dog, who made herself comfortable on their sofa (on a blanket we provided). Recycling was well explained but I wish there had been a little more tourist information in English. Whilst we were happy with the unit, we felt the Home Away website after we booked the accommodation was very user unfriendly. So much so, we were very worried that the booking was honest and were relieved when an e-mail finally arrived from the owner with an address. However, we were then disappointed to realise that the accommodtion was not in the middle of the town indicated (Alpirsbach), which possibly was our fault for not checking further before we booked.
