'Legal Ease' is located at The Surf Condos, an ocean front condo community that has private beach access and easily accessible to shops and restaurants.

This first floor end unit condo has 1 bedroom with a brand new luxurious king sized bed with pillow top Hotel Collection Sterns & Foster mattress. There is also a bunk area with full size futon on bottom and twin bunk on top and 1.5 bathrooms that can sleep up to 4 people (maximum 2 adults 2 children). In addition, there is covered parking and ONLY ONE FLIGHT OF STEPS to carry your things up! Best of all---EVERY SURFACE IN THIS CONDO HAS BEEN UPDATED!!

There are nice clean tile floors and a gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops and all brand new appliances (refrigerator, dishwasher, range w/oven). The kitchen overlooks the living and dining area and has a bar to sit at where you can enjoy the view of the ocean or chat with the cook!

The bedroom and furnishings are comfortable and simple. The layout of the bathrooms puts a half bath accessible to the bedroom and a half bath accessible to the main living area and bunk beds with the shower and bath tub in between, making it very functional. The bathrooms have brand new vanities, fixtures, and tub/shower.

The deck is spacious with a lovely view of the dunes and ocean as well as the pool and courtyard.

About The Owner

Two lawyers are the proud owners of this condo unit. Hence the name, 'Legal Ease', which is a play on the term 'legalese' which refers to that dreaded and often incomprehensible legal language that lawyers often use! We named the condo 'Legal Ease' to remind us that we need to take time to relax and enjoy a beach getaway. We hope that you will also enjoy this great vacation spot where you can relax and enjoy all that Topsail Island has to offer.

Why The Owner chose Topsail Island

We love the location of the Surf Condos, in Surf City on Topsail Island, you are close to shops and restaurants but have the beautiful grounds of a private complex with great amenities including a large pool to relax by after a day on the beach!

What makes this condo unique

We are on the first floor with covered parking so there is no need to lug groceries and all your beach gear up 3 flights of steps! There is also no need to cross the street with children either. You walk through a beautifully maintained courtyard with private beach access. There is also a large pool where children can play with plenty of seating to relax and enjoy poolside.

A Fair and Honest review!

We have chosen to review this Pros & Cons, so other renters are aware of the good & "need fixing" elements for this rental.

Pro: Very lovely complex, well located with security at gate. Very large clean pool and deck area secluded from beach area by the Dunes, very private. Well maintained grounds with walking paths. Very pleasant & accommodating managerial staff. Two well kept walkways with easy & direct access to the beach. Wonderful private parking very condo accessible. Nice floor plan in condo, 1 & 1/2 bath a great bonus. Kitchen granite counters and appliances very well kept, dining and living room furnishings very nice & comfortable couches, as this is where we slept. The owners left a wonderful binder with many tips, dining suggestions, outing suggestions, an extensive TV channel guide, nicely done.

Cons: MOST FRUSTRATING...communication with the owners. Check-in 4 PM, Key in Lockbox, additional key is available in Managers office. There was NO lockbox, no key, & the Office closes at 3PM....1 hour before check-in. We had phone numbers to voice mail, text msg unanswered until MONDAY! Totally unacceptable. Through the help of the onsite staff, who all told us this is a frequent occurrence, we were let in the condo. Many dishes & glassware was cracked. Two baking dishes & a frying pan were caked with old grease & food particles. There were NO TOWELS, LINENS, TOILET PAPER, we were not aware of this prior to renting. Despite "connection instructions" we could not connect to the "provided WIFI" when we called we were told it did not exist! We tried to make ice...the cubes were yellow!

It is a nice condo complex, we will return, but NOT with these renters. There are certain common sense standards for owners & renters. These owners have a lovely condo, but totally lack the skills needed to make this a very pleasant vacation.

Owner's Response: While I understand not everyone has to like me, I do find the review only one perspective, and I will address the comments directly. First, these guests say they were very frustrated, however I do not understand their frustration, I cannot read and comprehend instructions for guests nor can I lift the mat for them to locate the key. I advise ALL guests to READ the instructions and ask questions. Recently, just before their stay a guest report trouble locating the key to the unit --FYI, THIS HAS BEEN COMPLETELY REMEDIED BY KEYLESS ENTRY INSTALLED THIS MONTH (a number code I provide), however, for these guests, I informed them that there would be a lockbox on the door OR THE KEY WOULD BE UNDER THE MAT, and gave contact numbers if they had issues, but they didn't make it through all the contact list so it couldn't have been that much of a delay to access the unit or maybe they didn't read the instructions. I went to the unit the day after their stay, and there was the key under the mat like I said, not sure why there was an issue, but it is a non-issue going forward. As for staff comments, I cannot confirm/deny the comments, just that I only know of one other guest who contacted them this summer about the key. With regards to linens, towels, toilet paper, no where do we say that we provide these items and we do not, it was listed in the "welcome email" that I send, specifically ---don't forget to bring your own linens, towels, and toiletry items. I don't know how I can be more clear. I provide you with a list of resources where you may rent these items, but we do not supply them. About these guests, I will not rent to them again/recommend to others, I had to send the rental agreement 3 times to get them to sign it. They told me that they had sent it to me, but I keep every email exchange I have ever had with any guests form inquiry on, and they never sent it so I didn't find them trustworthy from the start. Next, the cleaning crew noted that the mattress pad on the bed was missing after their stay, so I asked if anything happened, and I received an angry and defensive email that said for the entire week of their stay, they didn't sleep on any of the beds in the condo, which I believe to be an untrustworthy statement, and why be defensive if nothing happened? so decide for yourself who is being fair and honest. I am happy to redact the guest names and send email exchange to support every statement herein.

Legal Ease

We rented the Legal Ease condo recently. This was our first stay at this complex. The pictures represent the condo very well. The pool is very nice, and the grounds were very well kept. Our pros: The king size bed is very comfortable and the two 1/2 baths are very convenient. The under condo parking is wonderful on hot days. The living room area is spacious, The owners were very easy to work with when booking our reservations, even giving us their personal cell numbers in the event they were needed. That is almost unheard of, so we were impressed by that. Our cons: There is not a TV in the bedroom, and we really would have enjoyed that. There was a miscommunication regarding the cleaning of the condo, so it had not been cleaned when we arrived. The owners were able to get this taken care of within an hour or so. It was just a little frustrating after traveling all day. However, we understand that things like this happen sometimes and it certainly did not ruin our vacation. And an exterminator was needed. This may be an isolated instance,, but some creepy crawlies were found during the week. Fun week in Surf City, NC!

Legal Ease

This was our first stay at Legal Ease and Topsail Island. This was a great rental. The pool was huge, and the ocean was a couple steps away. We would definitely stay here again.

Surf City Condo Highly Recommended

My husband and I stayed in Surf City, NC at Legal Ease for our 20th anniversary/vacation. The condo was perfect for the two of us. It was clean and I loved the decor. It was walking distance to the beach. We arrived during Labor Day weekened and it was very crowded but by Monday evening, most folks cleared out so that there was no traffic or crowds. Although we ate in mostly, the restaurants we did go to were excellent. I would recommend The Bistro and the Thai restaurant...and the NY Deli. We plan to visit Surf City again and hope the condo will be available for us at that time.

Highly recommend Legal Ease

This was our first stay at Legal Ease, as well as Topsail Island itself. It took a lot of convincing to get my family to go somewhere new, as we normally have a free place to stay at Myrtle Beach. When our normal place was not available, they wanted to rent somewhere at Myrtle, but I was desperate to explore our wonderful NC beaches. Our stay could not have turned out any better! The Surf Condos are a staple in Surf City on Topsail Island. This unit has been dramatically updated compared to others we considered. The pictures did not do it justice. It is very well-appointed, very comfortable and extremely clean. A great feature of Legal Ease is that it includes two parking spaces under the building, which keeps your vehicles nice and cool. The view is beautiful even though this is a first floor unit. You get a peak at the ocean and a lovely expanse of green grass and sea grass. The porch was very comfortable and also well-shaded so we were able to sit out there at any time of day. The end unit gets a lot of light due to the extra windows. Communication with the owner was easy and responses to any questions were quick. Topsail has a lot to offer and is extremely family friendly. There were no questionable activities or behaviors as compared to Myrtle which has become pretty tacky and somewhat seedy in places. My husband and son said this was our best vacation ever, and they both want to return next year (and as many times in between as possible).
