Jackie (and husband) I am appalled by the review you left for Sanibel Moorings; it is filled with incorrect information. My staff immediately responded to your complaint about the palmetto bug, which is not a sign of sub-par cleaning efforts. We do our best to prevent them from getting inside the units, but they are a part of our eco-system here in SWFL and are the price we pay for living and vacationing on a sub-tropical Island. As far as the cleaning issues you raise in the review, we were not aware of these issues and would have addressed them for you, had you given us the opportunity prior to demanding a discount for the palmetto bug. Sanibel Moorings is known for having the cleanest rooms on the Island and prides itself on that reputation. That said, our resort has been filled nearly completely since last fall and we have only a few hours in between guests to prepare for the next group. Again - had we been given the opportunity to fix it for you before you called and demanded a discount, we would have. The COVID cleaning fee and the status of all of our amenities was communicated to you BEFORE your stay (when you made your reservation) in the form of an email, of which we have proof of sending to this address on 4/19/21 at 2:04 pm. Perhaps if it had been read by your party when it was sent to you, you would not have been disappointed. It is also posted on the website as the very first screen that comes up – you cannot get any further into our website until you read the update. VRBO also has this same information posted. We have been very transparent about the status of all of our amenities and services. Canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards were the only items not available during your stay. You should note that while they were not available during your stay, paddle boards are not, and have never been, a complimentary service. Had they been available, you would have incurred an additional cost to use them. That really leaves just canoes and kayaks that were unavailable (because of the inability to properly sanitize and dry the required Personal Flotation Devices between users.) They will not return until the fall, assuming the pandemic is under better control. The following amenities WERE open during your stay and covered by the one-time $50 amenity fee: Beach Chairs and umbrellas (we have never claimed that we are cleaning them daily, but do attempt to clean them as often as possible, realizing that the only time they are not in use is in the dark of night.) Both pools and kiddie pool Tennis / Pickle Ball Courts Grills Bike Rentals Fitness Center DVD Rentals Shelling Lecture Beach Walk Laundry rooms Conference center with computers Beach towel rental Complimentary Wi-Fi *We offer more amenities than any other resort in Sanibel, even during the pandemic! In regards to returning your message…..I have proof that I called you back, and let’s be honest here, just because you demand a phone call from me does not mean that I am obligated to call you back within a certain timeframe (or even at all) especially when my staff has already handled your request immediately and professionally. I do not appreciate being called a liar. You were unkind and unreasonable demanding a discount in the manner that you did, and that was clearly your only objective. You will need to find accommodations elsewhere on your future trips to Sanibel.
