About this property
The Lookout | 4BR Sleeps 8, Decks + Downtown
Three floors up, the whole top of a restored 1890s house is yours. Four bedrooms, two full baths, a proper kitchen and laundry — eight people, and nobody sleeps on a couch or waits for a shower. Step out onto the deck for the best view in downtown Sandusky: rooftops, the water, and the sun going down over Lake Erie. Restaurants and bars are a walk away. Cedar Point, the Jet Express and Cedar Point Sports Center are all a few minutes out, with parking right here at the house.
The Lookout is the entire third floor. Nobody above you, nobody through the wall, and your own keypad entry — you never touch a lobby or a front desk.
Four bedrooms: three with queen beds and one with two twins. Two full bathrooms, which for a group of eight is the difference between a relaxed morning and a queue at the door.
The kitchen is built for real cooking — range, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, cookware and dishes for everyone. There's a dining table that seats the whole group, and a living room with a smart TV for whoever isn't out on the deck.
The deck is where people end up. Coffee in the morning, a drink in the evening, and a view down over the rooftops to the water.
In-unit washer and dryer, so a four-night trip doesn't mean four days of packing. Air conditioning, room-darkening shades and fast wifi throughout.
The neighborhood. You're in the middle of downtown Sandusky, inside the D.O.R.A. district — grab a drink to go and walk it down to the waterfront. Restaurants, bars and shops are on foot, and Shoreline Park and Jackson Street Pier are a few blocks away.
Distance to: Jet Express ferry to Put-in-Bay and Kelleys Island — walking distance Downtown restaurants and bars — walking distance Cedar Point — 5 minutes Cedar Point Sports Center — 7 minutes Sports Force Parks — 8 minutes Kalahari — 10 minutes Firelands Health — 3 minutes
Getting up here. The Lookout earns its name honestly: it's the third floor of a historic building and there's no elevator. We have suites on lower floors if someone in your group would rather skip the stairs — just ask.
Need more room? The Washington has eight suites in all: twelve bedrooms, ten bathrooms, and we rent the whole house for groups up to thirty. Message us if The Lookout isn't big enough.

The stay was wonderful! The location to everything was amazing! The house itself is beautiful, and our floor was everything we needed! We would definitely stay again!
The property itself was gorgeous. The space was very clean and we loved how close it was to the lakefront. However, the host never responded to any messages sent in Vrbo. I took a chance and replied to the check-in email we were sent, and was told to call a rental number. I called, they explained how to use the dishwasher and said they’d send someone with more toilet paper. No one ever brought more, so we had to go buy more ourselves. The rental was also scarcely stocked - not enough TP, as I’ve explained, and not enough trash bags. We ran out of those, too. The deck was off limits, which was never disclosed to us. Pretty big bummer considering we chose this property thinking we’d be able to enjoy the deck. The handle had been removed from the door and a hole left, which allowed rain to come in when it poured during our visit. If the place was better stocked, the host was more responsive, and the lack of usable deck was communicated with us, we would’ve given a better rating.Host, if you fix these things you will easily get 5 stars.
