Close to town and facilities and yet feels far away.
Please note: There is a spiral staircase which leads downstairs. This is a beautiful wooden staircase built in the 1960's contemporary style. It does not have risers and can be challenging for some dogs, very young children and elderly people. Also please note: we have retained many of the original vintage mid-century modern fixtures . if you are looking for modern and brand new this home is not for you. We have all modern appliances and the house is beautiful, the location amazing, but it is not your traditional modern home. The bedrooms are simple and they are not huge, though they have everything you need.
The house was designed by a renowned architect. The upstairs emphasizes the community living space - with beautiful open design. If you love the outdoors, wildlife, incredible private beach location - this is the house for you!
The upstairs queen bedroom has air- conditioning. The lower level of the house is partially built into the earth, and thus stays cooler. We recently added a floor AC unit for the downstairs queen. We have many floor fans available for additional comfort. It is a wonderful area for sleeping, and also includes the sitting area with large flat screen TV. We are committed to using eco-friendly cleaning products.
This is a house built in a Scandinavian/European mid-20th century design style. We like our renters to be very happy and to leave very rested and rejuvenated. We do everything we can to ensure you get the vacation you deserve! This is a place of deep serenity and peacefulness, exquisite wild views, and one of the best private tidal beaches in the world! The sunsets from the beach are extraordinary. If you are lucky you will see the full moon rise and the sun set at the same time. This is a spot where you can see that.
This location will leave you breathless. Watch the boats sail by, grill on the deck at night while taking in a magnificent sunset or take a short stroll along the marsh or in nearby quaint town of Wellfleet, and enjoy some of Wellfleet’s most celebrated restaurants: The Pearl, The Bookstore Café, Ceraldi and Mac’s Shack. Venture just a bit further down the road and you’ll be in the center of downtown Wellfleet enjoying gallery walks and square-dancing nights on the Harbor.
More about Wellfleet: Home to the pristine and impressive National Seashore, haven for artists and literary scholars, heaven for foodies, Wellfleet offers all of the rugged beauty of the Outer Cape with all of the convenience of more cosmopolitan areas. Several stunning ocean beaches are all within a few miles drive, clear kettle ponds are scattered throughout the landscape (and great for little ones), WHAT Theatre and the Wellfleet Drive-In provide live and vintage entertainment respectively, and the Audubon Wildlife Center is fabulous for trail-walking. If all of that activity makes you work up an appetite, stop in at one of many amazing Wellfleet restaurants (PB Boulangerie is a local favorite for those that love truly authentic Parisian bread and pastry.) For even more excitement, Provincetown is a 20-minute drive down Route 6, and boasts great shopping, whale watching and nightlife.
National Seashore nearby
With some 27,700 acres of federally-protected undeveloped uplands, bogs, pitch pine forests, sand dunes, and ponds in six towns (Chatham, Orleans, Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro, and Provincetown), the Seashore takes up almost half of the town of Wellfleet and about 70 percent of Truro. In addition to six glorious ocean beaches, comprising nearly 40 miles of the finest seashore on the Atlantic coast (see our Beaches chapter), the Cape Cod National Seashore boasts nine hiking trails that meander through varied terrain.
Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary
U.S. Rt. 6, Wellfleet
The Massachusetts Audubon Society operates this 1,000-acre-plus tract of salt marsh, woodland, beach, tidal flats, and moorland. What was once a turnip and asparagus farm is now a haven of self-guided nature trails and superb bird watching, along with a natural history day camp for children and week-long field trips for older folk. Guided walks, canoe cruises through Nauset Marsh, Monomoy cruises and seal and whale-watching trips are regularly sponsored. The excursions are extremely popular and book up fast. The one-and-a-half-mile Goose Pond Trail, part of the 5 miles of trails, offers a look at a diversity of habitats and leads to the shore. It's an excellent place for viewing shore birds, hawks, and herons. If you're still getting to know Mother Nature, borrow or purchase a copy of the 32-page Goose Pond Trail plant identification booklet at the visitor center.

About Michael Schvarzkopf
Our family built this house. We were among the first builders on this road on the Cape and have a long history in the area. It is quite magical and special to us. We come from Boston. Our parents have passed away, sadly. The house is now owned by the adult children who live in NY, New England and New Mexico. We work for nonprofits, the UN and own a bakery in Maine.
Michael Schvarzkopf purchased this House in 1965
Why Michael Schvarzkopf chose Indian Neck Heights
The scenic beauty, spectacular beach and area. Wonderful town nearby. Outer cape is unusual and a great area. Many renters have said this location is 'the best on the Cape.'
What makes this House unique
Amazingly quiet and peaceful. Beautiful views and gorgeous beach. You can rest like you haven't in perhaps a long time! And play as well...Our land is proud to be part of the endangered Diamondback Terrapin ecosystem. Each year these turtles nest on the property and are protected by the conservancy with wire covers. Each year there are sightings of the beautiful red foxes too!

Incredible location and view
Just wanted to say we had a great time at the house this past week. Very comfortable and what an incredible location and view! We look forward to coming back next Summer!
We look forward to having you back!
beautiful spot and place
Great place. There were 6 of us for two weeks, and it was spacious enough. My older son came for a week, and slept on the futon in basement. He was fine with that, but not much privacy. Beds were all comfortable, and we did not find the basement to be musty or overly humid as others have mentioned. The fans were all welcome as there were several days it got pretty hot and humid outside. My only complaint is the state of the screens on the sliding glass doors (one sliding glass door could not be opened at all, which was a bummer). On our first day there, the screen for the main sliding glass door into the house came off. The manager of the property immediately responded and told us it would be replaced, but it never was. Thus preventing any cross breeze thru the main living area, which was needed. The other screens were also on their last legs. That would be my primary recommendation - replace those screen doors. Nonetheless, we had a great time. Thanks.
I'm glad you had a great time and so sorry about the screens. I don't believe we heard from you about this, or we would have made sure that the property managed remedied the situation immediately. We do pride ourselves on quick responses, and would have been very happy to help you out. We are in the process of replacing all those screens. Thank you so much for your feedback.
Peaceful, hidden, bright, spacious
Peaceful and hidden spot, great for families with teenagers. They have their own space downstairs. Upstairs is light and bright. The open layout lends itself to family time. Nice views of marshes, just around the corner from a private bay beach! Thank you for sharing your lovely vacation spot!
We are so glad you appreciate the design which places emphasis on the family/ group space. And yes, the hidden gem of a location! Please do come back.
Amazing Family Vacation!
We had a wonderful family vacation with our adult children in this beautiful, comfortable home. Everything was as represented, and there was plenty of space for six adults to comfortably spread out. We loved time spent out on the deck, with the beautiful view of the salt marsh, and spent many happy meals together there. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to navigate. We enjoyed exploring the beaches of Wellfleet and appreciated the chairs and umbrellas provided, although one extra umbrella would have been welcome. Thank you for this opportunity to create some special family memories. We hope to return sometime in the future.
