Enjoy miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking and bird watching. Challenge your kids to a game of horse shoes, washers, badminton, or volleyball and then cool off in the lake.

The house has 5 bedrooms and two bathrooms and sleeps 18 in beds! It is fully equipped with Satellite TV, satellite internet and DVD player, dishes, kitchenware, charcoal grill, two refrigerator freezer combos, a washer and dryer. Inside dining seats 6 at the table and another 6 at the bar with seating for 16 outside on the deck. Bathrooms are stocked with plenty of towels, wash cloths, and hair dryers. All three downstairs bedrooms have queen size beds. The loft bedroom has a king bed and is upstairs. The bunk room is upstairs and has one queen, one full and six twin beds. All beds have very comfortable mattresses and high quality bedding and the full, queens and king beds all have super pillow top mattresses. They are so comfortable you won't want to get out of bed!!

The property has over 300' of shoreline. A two man kayak/canoe is available with life vests. A large deck overlooks the water and has two large picnic tables and seating. If you're looking for the nicest place on the lake, this is it!

About Ferryn and Steve

We are retired teachers who live in the A Frame during the winter and at our next door cabin during rental season. We love to watch the sunsets, water ski, spot bald eagles and relax on the lake during the summer.

Ferryn and Steve purchased this house in 2010

Why Ferryn and Steve chose Broaddus

We bought this property in 2010 and planned to rent it until we retired. However, we are now retired and even though this will be our permanent address, we are going to continue renting because it has been such a positive experience. Our family owns the small cabin next door which enables us to enjoy the lake while renting the A Frame.

What makes this house unique

We use to think that the distance from Houston was too far (takes 2 1/2 to 3 hrs) but after spending time at some lakes close to Houston with the crowds, we think our lake is the best in Texas.

On protected deep water cove with great fishing. This means you can leave your boat on shore or on the dock and it will not be buffeted by waves. Games such as horse shoes, washers, badminton, ladders are available. Also kayak, canoe, life jackets, and floats available. We also have two mountain bikes that you can use to ride through the dirt roads or forest trails. There is a chef in the neighborhood that can help with some or all of the cooking. We can put you in touch if you don't want to do your own cooking.

Cute but there are concerns

  • 1 of 5

The cabin itself is very cute. However it is dirty. We had an issue with roaches and plain dirtiness. There were roaches in the rooms, cobwebs, moldy shower curtain in the front bathroom, etc. I addressed each concern with the owners and while they apologized and acknowledged there was a roach problem, that was the extent of it. It was disappointing.

There is a dock on the property - however the kids were unable to utilize it for swimming. It smelled of sewer and was "slimy."

Owner's Response: I am sorry you felt you had a bad experience. We did spray for roaches right before you arrived but the house was thoroughly cleaned and was immaculate. Your complaint about the lake shore is puzzling. Sam Rayburn is one of the cleanest lakes in Texas. Water levels are variable and exposed vegetation does decay but it does not "smell of sewer". During your stay, you made no complaints and it appeared the children were enjoying your daily outings to the beach and the games that were provided. I must say, the email that you sent prior to writing this review, felt like a shake down. I think our other reviews speak for themselves.

Family Fun!

  • 5 of 5

This is extremely secluded and deep into the National Forest for sure. Being in a cove it was perfect for our large family. The house was very accommodating to our needs and the owners were very friendly and great with any questions we had. Our family was a 20 head count and there was room to spare, we were never crowded. If your family is into fun & games the property is perfect for that. Our family had a blast!!
