This was our home for years. We were married next to the Eno River within walking distance of the home and our reception was held on the deck afterward (in April when the azaleas are in full bloom)! With the birth of our second child we moved to nearby Chapel Hill. We love this beautiful forest location so much that we couldn't bear to part with the home and instead decided to share it with others. We still visit often.

What makes this House unique
We love to walk the miles of nature trails that begin at the end of the driveway and lead to the Eno River. The Eno River trails are a favorite in our family- they provided the backdrop for our wedding and we still walk them often!

A Sweet Retreat
Due to a stressful medical procedure for our young granddaughter my husband and I needed to be in Durham for a week. Knowing that we would be returning to a well stocked, thoughtfully complete home each night was the best stress reliever ever! Laura had thought of absolutely everything that one might want or need in a home, inside and out. Thanks to Laura's support, Duke Medical doctors and our sweet wooded retreat, our trip to Durham was a huge success.
A lovely family haven in the forest
This is a beautifully maintained cottage surrounded by the forest, but still convenient to everything in Durham. We rented this as a place for us to spend time with our son’s family while they were having showings of their home for sale. We had such a relaxing time taking walks and just hanging out. We loved hearing the birds, saw a beautiful hawk come through each day, and on our last day about 10 deer visited just out front. There was so much to do with our two-year-old granddaughter: a wonderful water play table, a slide she never tired of, and inside lots of toys to keep her occupied. Having the play ‘n pack let her nap when needed, and she even spent one night with us. The cottage itself is very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is very well stocked to do any cooking, and lots of space left for our food supplies. We couldn’t imagine a more perfect place for spending time with family.
Great home. Book now
I stayed for 5 days during my kids spring break. We had a blast. The trails out the front door were fun. The house was comfortable and well-equipped. I would come back.
Everything we wanted!
My husband and I have stayed at 213 Jefferson Rd twice, each time for several weeks. We were there in the summer and the winter. It is nestled in the woods and the natural environment is simply wonderful! You can walk into the woods to the Eno River. Although simply decorated, the house is well equipped with everything you need. We cooked a lot there and there was always the right tools in the drawer and the right sized bowl or pan. The main bedroom has a sleep number mattress and we enjoyed using it at its firmest setting. There is a clothes washer and dryer which was very important for our two week stay. It is so surprising that the downtown area is so easy to get to from this home! We wanted to learn about downtown Durham and we were able to go frequently with little effort. There is a deck and grill which we used and enjoyed. In the summer, we had coffee on the deck under the cool trees, even during a hot spell. The kind owners were always available on the phone and we never really needed their help because everything is well taken care of. We recommend this home with confidence and pleasure.
Forest Home Cottage
Great little place! Charming and cheerful and well equipped. We'll be back!
very comfortable and peaceful
the cottage is close to town yet very rural, being located at the end of a residential street. It is surrounded by forest. The cottage is very well equipped with kitchen and living accessories. The heating is fast and very good.
