Choctaw Lodge Retreat has much to offer guests including bird watching, nature photography, swamp tours, fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming in natural springs and much more in an area relatively unknown to most people. A continental breakfast is served every morning in the main lodge. Enjoy the peace and quiet of the most pristine area of Florida on the Choctawhatchee River and yet you are just a short 30 minute drive to the Florida panhandle's most beautiful beaches in Panama City Beach or Destin/Seaside Beach areas.
special events: Choctaw Lodge is a beautiful, private getaway perfect for a romantic wedding. It will be our pleasure to speak with you personally on your future wedding plans. Our staff is here to plan your special day offering a range of services from property only to planning you entire event. Feel free to give us a call for further assistance. We are also available for other special events as well.
Choctaw Lodge Retreat offers many different opportunities for corporate and health weekend or weekly retreats. It is our pleasure to give you a five star experience, whether family, girls weekend out or a romantic get away. A hidden gem!

Kathryn and Ron were so kind and welcoming. We had a wonderful stay, felt right at home! The screened in porch, nature sounds and the view were awesome. When we were not visiting close by beaches we were enjoying that porch! Can’t wait to visit again!

Fabulous Getaway Weekend !!

Karthyn and Ron were the absolute best!!! They were so welcoming and accommodating. They served a very delicious breakfast every morning. We plan on returning in the fall, so we can use the fireplace. We had a wonderful time and made new friends. Lisa and Wayne Hughes

Time to get away from the hustle and bustle

What a great weekend. The property was set up as the center home was the lodge and there were 2 super clean cabins on either side. There were walkways to the center home/lodge with beautiful landscaping and many places to sit and relax, enjoy the hammocks, decks off the water...etc. Kathryn and Ron were the absolute best host and hostess we have encountered on our travels. If you are looking for a relaxing time this is the place. Ron took us out on his Carolina skiff and showed us around all the swampy areas and hidden lakes, he was an excellent tour guild. We also canoed and enjoyed the sandy beaches along the way. Kathryn prepared an excellent breakfast for us every morning and we had bon fires in the evenings. We will be back later on in the year.

Beautiful and inviting!

Ron and Kathryn are the best! They are friendly, kind and really made our stay wonderful. The house is beautiful and the grounds and views are just amazing. I loved the lighting under the house and on the trees. The breakfasts Kathryn made us were to notch and we were surprised at everything that was offered. We had fun on the boat with Ron. I loved chatting with them about their experiences. I loved the location because it felt like a real vacation getaway. It was close to Panama Beach and dog races. There are so many things to do within a 30 minute drive away. We had peace and quiet when we needed it and chose when to be surrounded by people and that made it so enjoyable. The house is beautifully decorated, clean and very well maintained. We are definitely looking forward to our return. This is a place we would like to return to for years to come!

River paradise

We enjoyed every moment at this beautiful place. The house was clean and the outside area well kept. Kathryn & Ron were wonderful hosts. The breakfasts were incredible. It was such fun to sit in the screened in porch. Our boys enjoyed kayaking & we enjoyed the quiet and the boatrides.

The house is comfortable, hosts are helpful and friendly. Quiet place to just enjoy the peace of the river. The property is great, with fire pits, decks, hammocks, swings and night lighting.

Wonderful Weekend getaway

Ron and Kathryn are truly wonderful host! They made us feel welcome and comfortable the whole trip! Their sweet dogs, Ann and Bodhi, were the best! Breakfast made by Kathryn was unbelievably good!! Ron was very knowledgeable about the water and it's history- great boat tour! It was one of the best weekend getaway's with great friends that we have had in a long time! We traveled to Destin one day and PCB another day, the drive was not bad for either! We were secluded on the river but still close enough to all the beaches!! We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend anyone looking to stay here as well

What a hidden gem!

Ron and Kathryn where such amazing host! They where super friendly and very gracious. The food was wonderful each morning and the main home dining area was beautiful. It had an amazing view of the river and the old live oaks. Very peaceful and relaxing. A great place to get away from the hustle and bustle and just relax. The kids loved the boat ride on the river and looking at the wild life. Would highly recommend! -Reamer

Great experience, peaceful getaway rite on the river with beautiful landscaping .

Had a great time , everything we wanted to do was close by , 30 minutes to the beaches about the same to great restraunts . Plenty to do within a short distance . And be sure to take advantage of the river . Kayaking was wonderful Ron & Kathryn the owners are truly delightful and made sure our stay with them was one to remember. Ron showed us around the river on his boat and told us a little of the history and even helped us with the kayaks and Kathryn prepares a 5 star breakfast every morning . They are both very enjoyable to talk too and very helpful in planning your time there. Already making plans to bring my family back next year.

Peaceful and wonderful owners.

I would highly recommend the boathouse for a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. I was the only adult with 5 kids. We had plenty of room. The owners were great. The breakfast was amazing. My kids loved everything from breakfast, fishing, boat rides and just hanging out. We will be back for sure.

Perfect off the beaten path place that you want to keep all to yourself but can't help but share.

We were intrigued with staying on the river near the beach as we love the slower, less crowded places but do enjoy going to the beach for the day. We certainly were not disappointed!! This is our new favorite place. There's enough to keep you exploring with the kayaking and if your good with a kayak, can take your fishing poles or use the canoe. We went to seafood market bought our own seafood to cook, ran by local grocery picked up steaks and cooked on the grill a meal that we must pat ourselves on the back for, the best we ate, besides Mrs. Kathryn's breakfast😋, while we were there. But for eating out, Nick's was our favorite place and we often like to go to Grayton beach we tried Camp Helen and loved it. You have to hike in a bit to the beach but it's worth the hike. We just loved to sit on our screened in porch and listen to the wildlife and even had a fire in the fire pit and had s'mores. Here you can stay put and be perfectly content or take a quick drive to whatever you find to do. We definitely will be back, very special place (and might I add for you OCD people like me, cleaner than anywhere I've ever stayed😉) with the breakfast or without for you non breakfast eating people. Ron and Kathryn genuinely enjoy having and hosting people at their little corner of the river, along with Annie and Gracie, just don't sit in Gracie's spot on the boat😁 and they keep the grounds so beautiful there aren't many sticks for Annie to fetch but if you find one, you'll have a new best friend.

My husband Ron and I both grew up on rivers in South Georgia and South Alabama. When we discovered the beautiful Choctawhatchee River here in Northwest Florida, we were in love with the idea of living among nature and waking up each morning with a view of the river, and wildlife scurrying around. It is truly one of the few serene and secluded places left in this area. With the beaches thirty minutes or less away, one can enjoy the best of both worlds! And when additional property became available on either side of us, we couldn't wait to share this little piece of heaven with nature lovers from around the world. With water management surrounding our property, and natural springs close by, one can enjoy the best of nature.

Our neighbors are all likeminded and focused on living in a natural environment. We enjoy boating, swimming on sandbars, fishing, bird watching, biking, long walks and resting in one of the many hammocks or sitting around the firepit at night to catch the night sounds of the owls, crickets and frogs.

The location of this property is what makes it so unique. Any nature lover will find much to do on property or in the surrounding area. And of course, for those who wish to visit the beaches, they are close by and easily accessible.
