Cozy Sequoia Mountain Cabin Getaway

Bedrooms 2
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths

Kick back on the deck of this mountain cabin and sip your morning coffee while taking in the majestic views of Slate Mountain. Or, watch for falling stars and search for constellations free of light and smog polution. The unobstructed views of the night sky are tremendous! You may plan your rock climbing trek or fishing expedition up the Tule River while sitting at the dining table. The comfortable couches are perfect to curl up with a novel in front of a fire as snow falls around this peaceful cabin before you head out sledding with the kids.

You will love the five-minute walk to the Camp Nelson general store for an ice cream, or a Nelson Burger from the Diner.

This perfectly located cabin is ideal for peaceful time away from cell phones, computers and the hustle and bustle of everyday life or merely a foray into the High Sierras to see the giant redwoods in the National Forest and the Trail of 100 Giants

You can easily visit Sequoia and Kings Canyon on a day trip. However, once you are here you will appreciate the lack of tourists, tourist buses, and the solitude that comes with our quiet hamlet located in the Sequoia National Monument south of Sequoia and Kings Canyon.

About Lisa McFadden Neath

Our family started in the rental business in 1974 in Bakersfield, California. It is our passion and pride to offer quality properties to our community and the communities we become a part of. We have expanded to the Central Coast and Sequoias. As owners that are hands on, we are proud of each unique property we offer to others to enjoy for a few days or make their home. As the second generation I am proud to carry on my dad's vision and dreams for our properties.

Lisa McFadden Neath purchased this cabin in 1990

Why Lisa McFadden Neath chose Camp Nelson

My dad had always dreamed of having a place in the mountains to fish and be amongst the trees. He wanted something to pass on to his family so he purchased this cabin in 1990. He loves that we are able to share it with others since he can't spend the time there he would like. He relishes in the great feedback from people that appreciate our property and enjoys getting to meet guests when he is around.

What makes this cabin unique

Our cabin is not a house, a mansion or a hotel, but a quaint and cozy preserved cabin that has been well loved and maintained. The best part? Cell Phones do not work in the mountains and we do not have internet service. This is truly a time away from all the hectic electronics of today's world. I can relax and not feel tied to work.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time! Mom has never stayed in a cabin before and brought everything, even chairs for the deck. She was pleasantly surprised at how well equipped the cabin was, it has everything. We found everything so clean and homey. We loved it and we will be back. We met Joe and thought he was a terrific guy. We enjoyed our cozy fires and the view is spectacular. We even saw some deer in the front yard.

Fun little Cabin

  • 5 of 5

It is a very nice cabin. The bottle of wine was a very nice surprise. Great place to just get away from it all. Nice location, close to the general store. Nice to have a bbq and lots of linens. The board games are a nice touch also. Lisa was very responsive when I had any questions and the process was very simple. Overall I’d say I would stay there again, without question. Just remember , no cell service in the area and no WiFi. That is what I wanted though, just get away from it all for a few days.

Nice retreat to stay in Camp Nelson

  • 3 of 5

We were lucky to book this place last minute and were appreciative of the fact that Lisa let us check in early as we were traveling with a baby. The cabin is old but clean and quaint. We were pleasantly surprised to find some children's toys for our son to play with and a stroller, however, the advertised highchair was not at the house. When we contacted Lisa about it, she tried to find a solution (we were allowed to borrow a restaurant-type high chair from the Camp Nelson tavern), however, it didn't quite work up as the dining room table is bar height. The second bedroom is a little small but we were able to put a pack n' play snuggly in the corner. I was able to make "black out" curtains by pulling blankets over the window treatments. Unfortunately, it still gets a bit cold at night and that second bedroom doesn't get much heat unless the door is open, same as the other bedroom. The house is near the "center" of town which consists of the Camp Nelson Tavern, lodge, and hardware store and about 2 miles away from the Camp Nelson trailhead (which is beautiful, you must hike this trail!!!). Also, it should be noted that you will have to take your trash away with you either down the mountain or to the Camp Nelson Transfer Station which is located approximately 15 mins north of town and only open on certain days.
