The condo was nice and the location was great. The only issue we had was an infestation of cockroaches. We contacted the manager and they were going to take care of it after we checked out.

Private Lanai is Fantastic

The lanai has tables and chairs and is a great place for meals. The condo complex has lush landscaping and a fantastic pool/spa and sunset viewing area. The unit was dated, however it is well decorated with great wall art and knickknacks. The unit is well stocked.

An amazing stay. Property manager was helpful w a late check out. Kona Makai is our favorite place to stay. Quiet, romantic, and peaceful. Not as suitable for little kids…. The plants and grounds are amazing

Clean, quiet, but needs a little attention

The place was clean and quiet and reasonably well furnished, however the place needs some attention. The TV didn't work when we arrived (however the owner was quick to fix it), the two sliding glass doors were difficult to open and close and would not lock. The shower valve needs replacing, and the front door lock needs servicing.

Hi Tom, thanks for letting us know about your stay. After going over your feedback, the homeowner wanted to address the items that you mentioned: -We apologize about the TV. The wires were altered by a previous guest. We are glad we got it resolved during your stay. -We recently had the wheels on the sliding door replaced, so they should be opening much more easily. -We weren't aware of the shower valve and will schedule a plumber to have it replaced. -The sliders do lock, but many guests have trouble with them. We'll get them serviced as well. Thanks for taking the time to leave your review!

Overall this location was amazing. There was some confusion due to separate emails sent from Verbo and the property owner stating different check in info. However, the local contact, Collin, was very helpful getting it sorted out. The condo was clean. The bed comfy. The view from Lanai is beautiful. There were some standard size toiletries that are likely from or shared with previous guests. If thats a problem, you should bring or buy your own. Also, to avoid extra cleaning costs guests are required to empty trash, and do their own dishes and laundry before leaving...

Gorgeous maintained gardens and property. Beautiful Sea views. Fabulous location. Wonderful amenities. Comfortable home. Quiet, Peaceful surroundings. Unfortunately the email information sent by the owner was grocery outdated. We didn't have the correct code to get into our unit. Then the property manager we were to call if we had any trouble hasn't been the property manager for a year. We didn't have data so couldn't access the wifi to txt the owner. So checking in was an adventure but finally after going and looking for help we found a kind landscape gardener who helped us call the 'property manager' who couldn't help us, and then finally the owner got back to us with the correct and updated information. Other than the above mishap, I highly recommend this property and amenities.

Misleading

1) the door was challenging and frustrating to open. The owner informed us a few days prior that they are replacing the door after we leave because it is complicated to work. Didn't help us. Only my husband was able to open the door with some effort. 2) we were notified two days prior to departure that in order for the dryer to work we have to turn on and off the circuit breaker each time. 3) pool is NOT kid friendly. The pool rules say no diving, no jumping, no pool noodles, no cannonball, etc (not safety rules such as no running by the pool). And they enforce the rules.

We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following: - Thank you for choosing to stay in our Kailua-Kona condo and for taking the time to leave a review - In our welcome email, we explained how to use the lock and after a couple of text messages with your husband, he responded that you both understood how to use it - We explained that our traditional key lock was being replaced with a digital lock for security reasons. We've had several guests take the key to the condo, so this will eliminate this from happening in the future - Before your stay, we notified you that our dryer was having an intermittent issue of stopping and the workaround was to reset the breaker. Since your stay, we have upgraded the electrical panel, so there's no longer an intermittent issue with the dryer - the rules for the pool area are safety standards for most condominium complexes and guests must abide by them We truly go above and beyond for our guests and are confident that future guests will have excellent stays!

It was so amazing! So close to the ocean, which I loved! To be able to walk a short little walk down to watch the beautiful sunsets and hear the waves! Close to stores and lots to do. Had everything we needed.

The condo is located in a great location! It's right of the coast line so you have beautiful ocean views and sounds. I awoke to the sounds of tropical birds and frogs every morning! Large 1 bedroom unit! I loved everything about my stay at Mona Makai. I'd highly recommend! Colin was super helpful!

So happy we found this property! Host communicated well at every step. Clean, comfortable, quiet. Fully equipped kitchen including coffee and a few seasonings. Roomy bathroom with plenty of towels and soaps. Stacked washer/dryer with soap. Plenty of snorkeling gear. Beautiful ocean sunsets at the end of the property with access to water. Walkable trip to farmer's market (< 1 mi) or 1.5 mi to see most of Kona waterfront shops and food. Best stay of our trip to the Big Island!

Lovely Hawaiian style condo by the sea

We loved this ground level condo. It is in a perfect location , close to shops and restaurants. We enjoyed our breakfast on the lanai watching the ocean. We had everything we needed. We enjoyed the Hawaiian art and comfortable bed. We did not want to leave. We hope to be back soon. Mahalo!

Clean and Quiet

This unit is clean, comfortable and quiet, with plenty of parking and apartment complex is right next to the ocean. There’s a nice breeze that comes in from the lanai, and with the fans in the bedroom and living room, we never felt the need for the air conditioner. There’s also a nice pool and place to relax at the water’s edge and watch the sun set. We would definitely stay here again.

Great views

Every winter we come to Kona and always try to stay at a spot where we can just sit on the lanai in the morning and soak in the ocean view. This property did just that, great view and even better on the ground floor.

Great Location

The views from the condo complex were lovely. We enjoyed watching whales and the nightly sunset watch. The complex landscaping is beautiful, but the condo could use a little updating and a deeper cleaning. There was food leftover from the previous guests in the fridge, and the lint trap in the dryer was broken. We also couldn’t get hot water at first and never received a call back from the property management company, Evolve. We finally found the water heater in the kitchen and turned it on. Overall, a nice stay.

Overall condo could use a "refreshing" for sure. The complex seems to have a large issue with ants. I ended up with tons of bites just after laying by the pool one day.

Been to Maui 3 times, and by far, this was our nicest place we've stayed at. Beautiful 1 bedroom, 2 bath condo with a sliding wall partition which turns it into a 2 bedroom with a murphy bed and a daybed. You also get a covered parking spot to yourself, elevator for those heavy bags and you are just across the street from the beach. Both bathrooms are updated and beautiful. If you have average sized feet (I don't), they have all kinds of snorkel gear, boogie boards and other beach toys for your family's use at the beach. Close to restaurants, shopping and grocery stores. Save money by going to the grocery stores and prepare your meals in the beautiful kitchen with dishwasher (who wants to do dishes on vacation?). If you stay here, don't bring a ton of clothes. They have the biggest stacked washer and dryer I've ever seen. Worth every penny!!! If we are ever back to Maui, we will be staying here!!!
