Great property to base your stay in Kona. Beautiful cottage with fantastic views. Easy to reach from airport. The photos do not do justice to this wonderfully maintain lodging. Cottage is surrounded by a picturesque, well manicured garden. The cottage is equipped with all your necessary cooking and entertainment needs (travel guide books and board games). Communications with the host could not be better (fast and efficient). We stayed for one week. Close to all local Kona attractions and good jumping off spot for more distant island locations. A car rental is essential to reach destination.

Gale’s cottage was immaculately clean and was a modern Hawaiian craftsman style home that was beautiful and ultimately pleasant to enjoy our stay on the Big Island. We are very particular and usual travel with lots of gear. Gale’s cottage was stocked with all the nice home and adventure accessories that we bring on travel. We will leave that bag at home on our next trip to the cottage! Gale is very communicative and although this is a hosted property you’ll have plenty of privacy.

We have stayed in many 5 star/ Premier host homes and this by far was our favorite. Gale went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and right at home. Many extra personal touches such as fresh baked banana nut bread and Island fresh fruit. We could not have felt more at home during our stay.

Gale was absolutely incredible—truly one of the best hosts we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The cottage was an absolute dream: spotless, beautifully maintained, and in a perfect location for exploring the Big Island. Gale went above and beyond by providing thoughtful recommendations that made our trip even more special. She was so kind, responsive, and genuinely a delight to interact with. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would return in a heartbeat.

This was a repeat stay for us because we absolutely love Gale’s property. Best spot on the Big Island because it’s close to town, but still accessible if you want to go to Waimea, Hilo or Volcano National Park. Very private spot with a beautiful lanai where we enjoyed breakfast each day. Absolutely favorite vacation spot and we will be back! The property is so clean and has everything you need to have an enjoyable time - love that Gale thinks of everything - from banana bread to welcome us, to beach gear and coolers, to kitchen implements and various coffee makers.

Big Island Getaway did not disappoint.

This property is a true retreat. The house was well beautiful and stocked. It is in such a peaceful location that we felt like we had a secret little private oasis. The property manager was fabulous as well! Would definitely stay here again.

Like a 5-star resort for two!

The cottage was beautiful, very nicely decorated, and well supplied with everything. Gale was a wonderful host, with lots of helpful suggestions and advice, and interesting local lore as well. We loved the location especially - close to Kailua Kona, but out in the country too! The little road the cottage is on was perfect for daily walks.
