Property type condo
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Condo, Studio + Loft, 1 Bath

Welcome to Molokai, the most 'Hawaiian' island in the Hawaii.

Kepuhi Beach Resort is located on the west end of Molokai, next to the longest stretch of sandy beach in Hawaii, Papohaku Beach (three miles of white sandy beach). On any given day, it is not unusual for you to be the only ones on the beach!

This is a smoke-free unit overlooking the former Kaluakoi golf course and white sandy beach. Sun bathing, swimming and surfing is within footsteps of your door. Enjoy the oceanfront pool all day before relaxing at the gas BBQ grill in the evening. Picnic tables are provided for your dining on the great lawns.

Relax in the peaceful atmosphere, sunny days, and star filled nights. This is an island that has not been commercialized with shopping malls, traffic lights, tourism, or people.

Keywords: Secluded, upstairs condo with spectacular view and privacy, steps to beach, beautiful sunsets, gas BBQ grill, perfect relaxing getaway condo just waiting for you!

About Berit Larsen

We live and work on Oahu and like to get-a-way often from the hustle and bustle of city living. For over 20 years, we have been enjoying this tranquil island.

Berit Larsen purchased this condo in 1994

Why Berit Larsen chose Maunaloa

Molokai is the only Hawaiian Island where time has stood still. You can enjoy sunsets, great surfing, hiking, and peace and quiet year round.

What makes this condo unique

You are within minutes of laying on a sandy beach or paddling out to surf. This is definately the place to be to relax and unwind!

Guestbook comments from the owner

This unit was just what we needed! It is located on the west end of Molokai with a great sandy beach just a short walk from our front door. The beach is beautiful, the water is warm, and snorkeling was fun. It was amazing to have the beach almost to ourselves.

The owner is friendly and helpful, and made it easy for some scheduling changes that we made. The unit is well stocked with linens/towels, everything in the kitchen, as well as snorkel gear, cooler, and beach chairs. There was even shampoo and sun block!

Molokai is the perfect island if you want a complete getaway from the city. There are no signal lights on the island and people are friendly. It was truly a relaxing time spent lounging by the pool and down by the beach.

We will be back again!

We saw whales from the lanai, nice property for the price. Owner is responsive, needs a deep clean

  • 4 of 5

The property is clean and overall quiet. We saw whales from our condo and enjoyed barbecuing. We did have super noisy partying neighbors who don’t realize how much sound carries through the thin walls and on the other side smokers on the lanai (it’s supposed to be 💯 smoke free property) We will go back, maybe choose an updated cleaner unit and get the number for property security next time if we need to get support for those two things. Overall the trip was amazing, owner of unit very responsive.

"Peaceful easy feeling"

  • 5 of 5

We were fortunate to be able to stay in this condo for almost 3 months and I can assure you, that all the buildings, that are rentals or owned, are in very good condition. This complex/resort is a 'one of',therefore, some will love this quiet,no frills place and, apparently, some will not. This is our 4th year, however,we knew before coming here for the 1st time, that it was going to be a bit remote. There is a daily bus service,so,you can 'take care of business' without a vehicle, although having one is a treat. This condo has everything you have in your own home, with a cottage feel, plus a "bedroom" loft, with an ocean view balcony on the main floor. What's not to's warm and you're in a non traffic, non noisy part of Hawaii. If you want all the amenities/night life etc. in close proximity,I would suggest Maui or Oahu. This 'friendly isle' is quite different,in a very good way, than the other islands, for sure. In any case,we really, really enjoy staying in this condo and honestly, have absolutely no problem recommending this unit to anyone.

Keep Out - half of the buildings are collapsing

  • 1 of 5

If you like wild areas, abandoned resortes and buildings falling apart you should give this place a shot. The condo was not very well cleaned though, so you may have to accept some mold in the fridge and heavy dust on the bedside table. Far away from everything, but as everywhere in Hawaii the people are really nice.

Owner's Response: I am always saddened when I see that a guest was not happy during their stay on Molokai. I take great pride in running my unit and always stride to make every guest experience a good one. The comment regarding abandoned buildings that are falling apart is correct. There are a total of 300 units on the property - half of them are owned by Molokai Ranch and the other half is owned by private individuals operating under the association of Kepuhi Beach Resort. Unfortunately, Molokai Ranch closed down their operations many years ago and have not continued to maintain their buildings. My unit however is part of Kepuhi Beach Resort. Our association maintains the grounds and premises with great pride. The buildings and units are in very good condition. The comment regarding it is far away from everything is partially correct. My unit is withing a 10 minute driving time from the small community of Maunaloa and approximately a 30 minute drive from Kaunakakai, the main town on Molokai. Most guests that come to Molokai are looking for a peaceful and relaxing get away. Molokai has beautiful people and beaches. If you are looking for night life, Waikiki on Oahu would probably be a better fit. The comment regarding the unit not being clean is surprising. I have an awesome cleaning lady that really works hard. I admit that a mistake can be made with communication regarding a check in date, but that is rare. If I get ANY kind of complaint from a guest, it is addressed immediately and compensation is made to the guest.

Quiet and simple

  • 3 of 5

Hardly anyone around. Very peaceful and quiet. Nice to sit on the lanai and listen to the birds. Some of the buildings were run down and condemned. Far from town. Beautiful sunsets. Heat wave while here so hard to sleep at night without air con. Unit clean and well stocked.
