Bougan Villa is a lovely house with private pool situated in a small development in Bottom Bay on the unspoilt SE coast of Barbados.

The house has been finished to a high standard and has recently been redecorated throughout. The villa has all the accommodation and facilities needed to ensure that visitors have an amazing holiday on this beautiful island.

The well equipped kitchen contains all you need to prepare a six course banquet or a simple G&T! There is a large oven with electric grill and hob, a large fridge freezer with water and ice dispenser and a microwave. There is ample crockery, cutlery and utensils and also a coffee machine, a 4 x toaster and Ninja blender.

The separate dining room is beautifully decorated and has a ceiling fan and bi-fold doors leading out onto the covered terrace. Bougan Villa is one of the only properties on the Atlantic Rising development that has a separate dining room. If you prefer to eat al fresco there is also a dining table and chairs on the roof terrace.

The bedrooms are both air conditioned and have their own bathrooms. The master bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe and en suite and the second bedroom has large fitted wardrobes with ample storage. There are also fans available for both bedrooms.

The comfortable lounge has two large sofas, two ceiling fans and a large flat screen TV with satellite channels. There are plenty of books and also games for guests' use.

The inside living area is comfortable, light and airy and leads out onto the shady extended terrace which is perfect for lazy days overlooking the private pool and lawned garden.

The palm trees provide for shady al fresco dining on the roof terrace and the views from the roof terrace of the nearby ocean are wonderful... the perfect place to enjoy the sun rise or set.

There is free WiFi throughout the villa and the use of a telephone for free calls within Barbados.

The Atlantic breeze on this side of the island means that even on the hottest days the temperatures are comfortable. Bottom Bay beach (voted as being in The Times' and Conde Nast's top-ten best beaches in the world) with its white sands and coconut palms is 3 minutes amble away. Harrismith, Palmetto and Long Bay (our personal favourite) are also stunning beaches which are just a short stroll. For less confident swimmers the Northern end of Long Bay has a very calm swimming area (see photographs).

For those of you looking for exciting night life and fine dining, the busier South and West coasts are a brief car/taxi/bus ride away. For the surfers amongst you a trip to the legendary Soup Bowl at Bathsheba on the East coast is a must, and is only 20 minutes drive away.

Abbiamo soggiornato nella fantastica Villa dal 29/ 01/20 al 07/02/20. Jan, ci ha accolto rendendosi disponibile per ogni eventuale problema ma il soggiorno è andato benissimo! La casa dispone di ogni comfort possibile e immaginabile, un bellissimo patio all'esterno con piscina di cui noi abbiamo usufruito tantissimo dalle colazioni, alle cene fatte con il barbecue. Due camere da letto di cui ognuna con il proprio bagno. Una posizione, a mio parere, fantastica ed una vista sul mare dal terrazzino meravigliosa! Grazie per averci fatto trascorrere una fantastica vacanza! Spero a presto. Saluti. Alessia

Amazing property in secluded part (east coast) of Barbados

We stayed 7 nights at Bougain Villa and we had all we wished for: great and spacious property, all kitchen appliances and tools we needed, nice garden pool, wonderful patio (covered) and an amazing, small roof deck terrace under palm trees! Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Lorraine, who welcomed us and showed us all of the wonderful property. She also gave us lots of local tips and even a self-made banana bread as welcome surprise - how nice is that (and super delicious on top of it as well 😉)! We usually spent our days out traveling and exploring the island (it is highly recommended to have a rental car for this location as it is in a secluded area), but we always spent the mornings at the pool and also chilled there when coming back from our trips at night. Bottom Bay - one of the most beautiful beaches on the island - is just a 5min walk down the road and Sam, who has a little shop there, offers amazing, fresh coconuts! Go check it out while there! The next big shopping center (Emerald) is a 10min drive away but has all the groceries you need for your stay. There are also a couple of restaurants around (with the Crane Beach Resort close by), but mostly are located on the south/west coast. We really loved the place and would always recommend this place to anyone looking for a great price/value and also wants to stay a bit in a more quiet part of the island (compared to the south/west coasts). I hope we can be back at one point! THANK YOU Nicola and Lorraine for this wonderful stay!

We had a lovely time, visiting family as well as enjoying the beautiful island

The villa was lovely and provided what we needed during our stay. You definitely need a car as it is based in a remote area and having transport made it easier to access areas. Although we didn't spend a lot of time at the villa as we were out and about , when we did it was nice to chill by the pool both early morning and on an evening. Bottom bay beach is walking distance but I wouldnt recommend swimming there as the sea is choppy, nearby shark hole is a gem of a place. Jan was helpful and attended to any issues promptly. We will definitely be back Jules and Jane

We booked Bougan Villa for a month to spend a little time away from our winter. Having never been to Barbados before we had to rely on online posts and descriptions to choose a place. After much browsing through many sites we found Bougan Villa. It seemed to fill all of our requirements, a quiet, relaxing, comfortable place where we could live for the duration. We were not looking for the all inclusive type of experience, no need for the crowds, line ups and entertainment. Bougan Villa is located in a quiet residential area, away from the crowds and traffic of the highly populated west coast area. Instead, Bougan Villa provides a very relaxing, well maintained space with nice open access to the patio, yard and pool. Sun and warmth when we wanted it, a nice shaded lounging area with an overhead fan when we felt like it. The photos provided are accurate so we didn’t find any surprises when we arrived, as sometimes happens. Our arrival was delayed but the property manager Jan was waiting for us on our arrival and gave us a quick but thorough introduction. During the first couple of days we had a couple of minor issues and Jan dealt with them immediately. So overall, we were very happy with this house and our stay. A couple of things to be aware of, as stated Bougan Villa is quite a ways from most commercial venues including basic living necessities so a car is required. (you could use cabs for a short term stay) The ocean is near by with several beautiful beach but be aware that swimming at these beaches is not recommended for good reason. Onshore winds are constant around Bottom Bay which keeps the humidity and temperatures at very nice levels but the surf was always too much to go into the ocean. Swimable beaches require driving. The upside of the constant breezes is that we did not need air conditioning once during the month we stayed! Also, the bbq is a charcoal grill that needs some upkeep. I did a few minor repairs and we used it many times. For those of you who are accustomed to gas grills, be prepared, life is slower in in the islands. My final comment, (please note, I have no complaints) would be regarding the beds. My wife and I are both quite tall and being from North America where queen and king sized beds are the norm, we found a double to be quite short. Overall, and excellent choice for a quiet stay! Our whole experience dealing with the owner, Nicola and the property manager Jan was A1.

Schönes Haus, ruhige Lage an der Südostküste

Das Ferienhaus liegt in einer Ferienhaussiedlung (Atlantic Rising) an der Bottom Bay im Südosten der Insel. Die Fahrt vom/zum Flughafen mit dem Taxi dauert ca. 20 min und kostet 60 US$. Das Haus besitzt zwei Schlafräume und zwei Badezimmer und ist für vier Erwachsene geeignet, allerdings ist das Doppelbett in dem einen Zimmer für zwei Erwachsene etwas schmal. Ansonsten verfügt das Haus über ein Esszimmer, eine Küche und ein Wohnzimmer. In der Küche befindet sich auch eine neue Waschmaschine. Hervorzuheben ist der Eisspender im Kühlschrank, den wir permanent genutzt haben ! Das Wasser aus dem Wasserhahn ist zum Trinken geeignet ! Einziger negativer Kritikpunkt an dem Haus ist die schlechte/schwache Innenbeleuchtung. Hier wären etwas mehr Lampen (besonders in den Schlafzimmern) bzw. hellere Birnen wünschenswert. Der Außenbereich wird geprägt von einem schönen, kleinen Pool, der regelmäßig kontrolliert bzw. gesäubert wurde. Fußläufig zum Haus befinden sich drei sehr schöne Buchten mit regelrechten Bilderbuchstränden: Bottom Bay, Palmetto Bay (jeweils 5 Minuten) und Harrismith Bay (ca. 10 Minuten). Die Palmetto Bay ist aber wegen des felsigen Strandbereichs eher nicht zum Schwimmen geeignet. Bottom Bay und Harrismith Bay haben hingegen einen sandigen Übergang ins Meer. Alle drei Strände liegen an der doch recht rauen (Süd-) Ostküste der Insel. D.h. die Wellen brechen sich manchmal recht stark, so dass das Baden nur für gute Schwimmer möglich ist. Schnorcheln ist hier nicht möglich. Die Abgeschiedenheit des Ferienhauses bedingt, dass man eigentlich ohne Mietwagen nicht auskommt. Es gibt zwar auf der Hauptstraße (fußläufig ca. 10 - 15 min) eine Bushaltestelle, jedoch ist es sehr zeitaufwändig mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln die Insel zu erkunden bzw. einkaufen zu fahren.

Great Place By the Beach!

We stayed for 10 days at the lovely villa with our two boys (age 5 and 7). Upon arrival, we were greeted and some light groceries were already done for us. Suffice to say, this place is bare. I was a bit surprised as I have done other Home Away places and usually they have sugar, salt and spices. But this place is literally all empty so you will need to buy everything if you plan on cooking like I did. The pool was great, we had a bit of an issue in the beginning but it was all good to go by the third day and my kids loved it. The pool is a bit small. But regardless, its a great place to cool off. The beach was a short walk away. When we were there, there was enormous amount of seaweed. The waves are very strong as well. The boys played in the sand mostly. However, the best beaches are a drive away and we strongly recommend renting a car. Over the place was great! We had a great time!

Fabulous!! Highly recommended.

Truly, lovely property! Spent 10 days in Aug/Sept, and has everything you might need to ensure you have a comfortable stay. The pool is the icing on a rather delicious cake - perfect for cooling down on a hot day! Thanks to Jan for helping make our holiday a particularly enjoyable one.

Fantastic place. House had all we needed and a block from beautiful bottom bay beach. However beach is not swimmable - undertows. My only complaint is we had to drive to any swimmable beaches. We spent a lot of time on the terrace and in the little pool after being at the beaches all day. Safe and quiet place. Very enjoyable

Clean, fresh and well prepared villa

The villa has all that is needed with the exception of one item, a microwave was not part of the deal but it is missed. There's a few other small points like bed heads, but this can be ok. However, there is an issue which is going to be put right and that is the security locks on some of the windows and the main front door, and more importantly the main external front door and frame itself which is a week internal door with the lock connection exposed on the outside. Like I said the villa is great but these issues need to be addressed mostly for night time security.

A great villa away from the tourist traps, 5 minutes walk to the best kept secret Bottom Bay.

We had an amazing 2 weeks. Welcomed by John....lovely man who you see working hard buzzing around the properties. Very private villa with everything you could ask for...its was extremely hot even for Barbadians apparently....35C in the shade almost everyday. Although 'Low Season' the island was very quiet....so sourcing lunch out was a challenge....but we were delighted to drive to Enterprise (Miami) Beach...25 mins....to have the beach and sea literally to ourselves on many days ...bliss...lovely to swim with the locals at 0730...stunningly clean beach and views. Please visit Huntes Gardens.....beautiful and have a drink with Anthony to get the history, walk on cattle wash beach on the east coast....desolate but stunning. If you want a catamaran trip...the only way to go is Calabaza...they only take 12 people...price the same as the others with 20 + on. They pick you up from the villa, crew fantastic, swam with turtles and over ship wrecks...fab lunch. Then we experienced Tropical Storm Matthew for a few hours before it left the Island...all credit to the island ...you wouldn't have believed it had happened the next day. John & Jan thank you for your friendly but unobtrusive advice and welcome to your island. Lisa & David ...Bromley UK .

PERFECT! 5 ********

My sister and I have just returned from a weeks stay here and this is genuinely a piece of paradise! The villa is beautiful with 3 full bedrooms, AC, full kitchen with all the utensils, living room inside and out with full size 6 seater table and BBQ and of course the lovely pool. We hired a car from what Nicola recommended and this was went without an issue. You need a car really as it's a bit off the beaten track but this is what makes it so perfect! The Bottom Bay beach is literally about 5 minute slow walk at the bottom of the road, and by far this was the most beautiful we saw on the island and we saw quite a few! Jan and John were SOOOO lovely and made our stay even more enjoyable, anything you want to know they will know. They're so friendly and helpful and a really lovely couple and an assett to the villa. There is absoloutely nothing bad to say here about the island or the villa other than stay longer than a week as you won't want to go home. I've not been home 12 hours and already writing this review so people realise how fabulous it is. Hopefully I can return very soon! Also, the Bajan people are amoungst the nicest people I've ever met, so warm and kind, always helping with directions with a smile! Thank you Nicola for sharing your peice of paradise! Beth & Kelly

Incredible stay in February, March 2012!

......amaaaaazing! What a gem we found in renting this beautiful home! The house was soooo clean upon our arrival! (we have had bad experiences in the past so we were worried). NOTHING to worry about here! The caretakers John and Jan were there for us for ANYTHING we needed at any time. They went way above and beyond for us. The contact with Nicola prior to booking was a breeze as she answered all of our questions so promptly whenever we had them. She organized a packet of info of things to do and see, restaurant prices, even a little point of interest map to follow with amazing sites to see along the way. Who does this? They do! They care so much that everyone enjoys themselves and it shows! THANK YOU!!!

My first trip to the island and the rumors are true, it’s both captivating and calming. The Villa was perfect in the most idyllic and relaxing location with Bottom Bay on the doorstep; your own private expanse of gorgeous beach (that's how it felt as it was so quiet & empty most of the time).  Jan & John were very welcoming and the font of all local knowledge, with plenty of top tips for visits and happy to help at any time.  Plenty of time was spent relaxing in and by the private pool, and the odd cremated meal cooked on the built in bbq. There are plenty of local restaurants to visit (too many good ones to mention).  A fab 17 days of relaxation in top rated accommodation, we'd go back in a flash!

Amazing

This was was a chocolate box house only it was white chocolate..... this house was fab I enjoyed every aspect of it and it provided me with every thing I need for my stay, near to the beach fantastic pool and the standard of the house was 4* and above. I look forward to renting this house again and recommending it to my friends and family

There's something about Barbados......

Our second trip to Barbados and first at Bouganvilla. The house is lovely, very clean, great neighborhood, and for us a perfect location. It's away from the city and minutes to a fantastic beach with friendly locals. Jan and John were so welcoming, available when needed, ready with advise when asked. Great breezes on the beach and also for sleeping. We never used the a/c. My husband wished there was a blender for frozen drinks; I wish I was back at Bottom Bay, laying on a lounge chair with a rum and coke, listening to the waves, feeling the lovely breeze and watching the cow graze on the cliff. Can't wait until next year!

Booked again already

You know when you have a high expectation about something, somewhere or someone, well what can I say, this exceeded it - not only the lovely, comfortable villa, the friendly locals, Jan the first point of contact, the beautiful surroundings, the nearby beach (it's practically your own), the banks beer, rum cocktails but what a great loacaton quite peaceful and only a stones throw from the exciting bussle of the West coast. Our 10 days flashed by can't wait to go agian Oh and the fish ......

Charming Villa

We came to Barbados to visit friends from college and enjoyed our stay here. The house was charming and in a quiet neighborhood. We had some problems with the native insects getting into the house but we didn't mind, we just want a place that was quiet and away from the hussle and bussle. We did get the chance to use the pool much because the maintenance guy didn't clean the pool, but with Bottom Bay beach a 2 minute walk away we were in our element of hanging out on the beach,

Paradise!

Our holiday was fantastic. The location was superb with so many lovely beaches a short walk away. The Villa was light, bright and immaculately clean with everything you could wish for on a holiday and much more. The pool area was lovely, and the garden very pretty. We didnt have to move to have a fantastic time! The loval beaches were beautiful and quiet, hardly anyone to share them with. The barbecue was great the staying in nights around the pool.

Great holiday

Wow what a holiday, accomodation was fab everything you need comfortable, relaxing and a stones throw away for lovely beach, scenery and shops.Pool was fantastic.A great holiday never to be forgotten.

Perfect holiday getaway!

House was exactly as described - spotlessly clean & had everything you could ask for. There were lots of books & info to help you get around - enjoyed the walk! The garden & pool were very pretty - a great spot to watch the birds & relax. It was very close to some amazing beaches & although it was a very quiet area (exactly what I was looking for), it was only a short drive to busier areas, restaurants, supermarkets, banks etc. Housekeeper & gardener were very helpful & friendly. A great holiday!

Lovely Location

This villa was ideally located for our holiday, exactly as described.We had a very relaxing time that made for a wonderful holiday. It is looked after very well, with good support if needed. It is within easy reach of some great beaches and good local facilities. Highly recommended.
